Stay Away from this model...

I had the Surface pro 1, 3, and 4. This has been the most frustrating model so far. I've returned two of them already, this is the third one. If you have surface 3, DO NOT upgrade. Cons: Full of bugs, almost anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. (search for problems with surface 4)_ Out of the box expect a 2 GB windows upgrade for 2 hours. Available hard drive space is only 85GB out of 128GB after windows upgrade. (buy an external memory stick) Display freeze (requires hard restart) Display turns dark. (restart to fix) Keyboard freezes, requires restart. Sound driver can't recognize headphone. (reinstall driver) broken speaker on one of the devices i purchased. battery life at best is 5 hours. 9 hours battery? really? Class action lawsuit anyone? Computer never sleeps, Loses significant battery life while computer is off. (imagine you charge it at night, only to find out it is empty in the morning during lecture). Fix will be issued in 2016 by Microsoft. Bigger screen size was achieved by reducing bezels. When holding the it in tablet mode, fingers (usually thumbs) touch the scree, it goes crazy. (no fix, they better go back to original size) No longer double tap and drag option. still only 1 USB, no USB C. Light bleeds into screen, more visible at the bottom.
Pros Better Keyboard. Larger track pad. Great resolution Much needed improvement on heat distribution Fan rarely kicks in.
This product was not ready to hit the market, they pushed it to make it to holiday shopping, and decided to fix it afterword. Surface pro 3 was a perfect device and only needed to address the heat issue. unfortunately Microsoft missed their chance of perfecting it. how bad does it have to be when Microsoft officially make a public apology for their new Surface 4 device! They announce that they will fix some issues in 2016. Many updates have been sent already, but problems still persist.
