Add a little extra oomph to your television's sound with this Samsung sound bar. The basic setup features a 2.1 channel speaker system with left and right speakers to balance the experience. I replaced my older Soundbar and I now have MUCH cleaner crisper sound and much deeper base. This will (never) beat a Stereo Speaker set up but WAY Closer then expected for the price.

The Samsung 50" HDTV is excellent and very low price with good quality and proven leader in the industry. This is our first venture into HDTV and I could not be happier. Easy to set up. Has backwards compatibility for older options along with all the new bells and whistles.
I recommend getting at a minimum a Sound Bar. The sound is OK from the Factory however they are tiny and point downwards.
This is normal for all HDTV. In order to get the (slim) design sound quality had to go. As a minimum a low cost Sound Bar with no Sub Woofer works just fine. You can always go up if you are into really big sound. However with the 50" being the (entry level) for a home entertainment system that is a personal choice.

Only @ Best BuyThis digital optical audio cable connects your A/V components to a TV or A/V receiver and transmits digital audio signals via the optical audio jacks.

My Sound Bar came with RCA Analog cables and I connected using those. Then I used the Digital Optic Cable (separate purchase) and I could tell immediately a difference in the sound.
The Cable is low cost but well worth the small price for what you get.
I have no Cons to report at all. Good right out of the box and the easiest set-up of the whole process with HDTV.

Very good for the Price

Descent sound for the small size and cost not boom box but good for small TV more then anything.
More then one way to hook into the TV the Analog cables come with the sound bar. I bought the Light Cable (separate) to hook into and I could tell a difference in how it sounds.

Is subwoofer required for soundbar operation ?
Do I need a subwoofer added for soundbar to enhance more clear and crisp TV sound output? Or will soundbar work for what I want without a subwoofer?
I view a Sub woofer as an extra item not needed with a "Sound Bar". The vast majority of time you (need) a sound bar with 40 inch and (smaller) TV because the speakers just suck big time no matter the model you buy.
Then you get into 50 inch and you still need a sound bar but want a little more kick add the Sub Woofer to your system.
From 50" and UP you would most likely move away from a sound bar for "Home Entertainment System" and go to separate speakers and Sub Woofer.
In the end a Sub Woofer is more "felt" then heard with the ears...
If you are big into stereos and will not make the neighbors angry then I would never bother with a Sound bar at all and go straight to Sound system with separate speakers and sub woofer.
Then you get into 50 inch and you still need a sound bar but want a little more kick add the Sub Woofer to your system.
