Wash clothing efficiently with this 4.2 cu. ft. GE washer. Its deep fill button lets you add extra water to the tub for loads that need it. The dual-action agitator on this stainless steel GE washer moves in both forward and reverse directions to thoroughly clean even heavily soiled items.

A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY

Bought this machine to replace the Kenmore I left behind after selling my house. Figured that it would be easier to get a new washer than to take the old one with me. Now I realize that was a mistake. The Kenmore was 9 years old and worked fabulously. This GE has a lot of issues and makes the simple chore of doing laundry a long drawn out frustrating task. Here's what I deal with with every load...1. weak agitation ( the salesman said that the "gentler" agitation saves your clothing. Actual results... clothes that are still dirty. And YES I am using the HE detergent as recommended, as well as a stain remover / whitener....2. low water levels. The deep fill feature is a joke. It is nearly impossible to get the machine to sense the size of your load. Most of the time the water rises only 1/4 of the way up the tub on a large load. This leaves me having to add more water...and not with the ease of pushing a button. The machine won't let you reset any of the settings while it is already in the process of filling. Therefore, I take a 5 gallon bucket of water from my sink and haul it to the machine. PROBLEM SOLVED...well not really. After all of this I have to deal with the rinse. The machine only has a memory to go back to that 1/4 fill and does a lousy job at rinsing. 3. It takes forever to get the wash done. If you are in a hurry.....forget it. There are way too many pauses between cycles. A large load runs about an hour. So, summing up my review, I will say this.....I looked at many washers before making this purchase and chose this one because it seemed to have the features (although updated) that my old Kenmore had. The newer Kenmores are no longer the way were back 10 years ago. Now I am missing the days when I could do a load of wash easily by turning a knob, setting the water level and temperature manually and hearing that agitator working knowing that my wash would come out perfectly. This new GE is a perfect example of a product that was "fixed" when it wasn't broken...all in the name of technological advancement. If you can find an older machine from say 10 years ago or so, you may want to give it a look. I will be searching Craigs List for one like I had to leave behind in my move. I do not recommend the GE washer to anyone.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
