Fantastic product. Better than Apple for once!

Something's going on at Microsoft. It has been ages since they made anything "cool" AND unique.
Since our trusty old Dell finally kicked the bucket we went to Best Buy to test drive all these new convertible 2-in-1 laptops/tablets. The Surface Book is totally unique in the way it looks, works and feels. It definitely has a cool factor the others don't. By the way, I absolutely love the backlit keyboard and how customizable everything is. The voice recognition is also very well done, although not quite as good as Apple's.
Aside from the hardware, Windows 10 is probably their best OS yet. I was a die-hard Windows 7 guy, but this might just be better. Of course Win10 is most useful when you are dealing with touchscreen technology, but everything just works. It's different for sure, but interesting, not annoying. 8 was just plain annoying. 10 they got right.
I never thought I'd say this, but I like my new Surface Book better than my iPad (my whole family uses Apple products at home, with the laptop being the only exception). I find myself drawn to the Surface because it's so flexible and fun to use. I love how the tablet screen can be detached and put in backwards so you still have a nice slanted prop on it if you want, and you don't feel the keyboard underneath, which is one of the things that sets the Surface apart from the others. Really, you need to go into a store and test drive these things.
Overall, it works perfect as a stand-alone tablet and as regular laptop. Makes the MacBook seem ancient in comparison. I've used them all.
Nice to see Microsoft back in the game. I grew up with Windows so MS holds a special place in my heart, but our whole family still finds our iPhone, iPads, and AppleTV our regular "go-to" devices. I hope Microsoft keeps this up. Xbox and Azure are great products, but there is still a lot of room left for improvement in other market segments.
If I had to find one complaint it's that the tablet screen can sometimes be difficult to detach unless you're prepared to grab it with your whole hand and pull quickly. In other words, it requires more than a gentle touch. It's hard watching first timers try to detach the screen. When closed in regular laptop mode it can also be difficult to open the screen initially. My 8 year old could not figure it out. It's like a delicate clamshell you have to pry apart. You get used to it quickly, though. These minor things pale in comparison to how great the overall package is. Kudos to Microsoft.
I would recommend this to a friend!
