While this product has a lot of potential, I had a number of problems. The most serious is that the plug just stops working after five minutes. You then have to unplug the plug and plug it back in again. The other hardware issue is that the WiFi signal is weak -- not even full strength when your smart phone is right next to the plug. Finally, the phone software requires you to be logged into Best Buy in order to control your lights. This is inconvenient and a potential privacy concern.
Positives: Nice physical design. Software is easy to use.
Conclusion: This product is on the right track but should have been tested more thoroughly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

If the power goes out where this is plugged in, (assuming there's a battery backup on the modem/router) can this notify you that there's no power? Thanks, MN Maniac

No. There is no battery in the plug.

Will this help boost my Internet ...my walls are thick and I don't get as much internet on my sons video games upstairs.

No. Purchase an Internet repeater. They can be bought for as little as $20 and are small devices that hang off the wall.

i keep getting a "Registration Error" and says that registration call failed, to reset device and try again later. Have reset twice and same result. ????? What can i do to resolve this. Thanks, oscar

It took me a couple of tries to make the registration work. Try resetting the device to factory default settings per the instruction sheet and trying it again. Remember, you must have a Best Buy online account to make the software work on your phone before you try registering your device. Also make sure your phone is close to the plug when you register it.

how can I rest this device ?

(1) unplug the plug, (2) keep holding the button on the plug and plug the plug into the wall, (3) keep holding the button for about four seconds until you hear a click inside the plug.
