Best dishwasher I've had!

Read online reviews and this was highly recommended. It didn't disappoint. Plus the crew at Best Buy knew their stuff and they were able to help me compare features with other models and brands. This was one they said customers raved about, and they were right. Competing stores were not nearly as helpful. I would also recommend their install...very simple and fast.
So the dishwasher gets regular dirt off with regular washes. The heat dry is good and does not melt plastic. I had some of the disposable stuff bend (just the lids) but you're not supposed to reuse those anyway...doesn't affect regular plastic containers.
Others said water built up in the tub. I do not have that. It dries well and cleans well and water does not pool at the bottom. Use tough cycle if you want to clean baked on stuff....it really works. Be warned it takes 2.5 hours (really!) BUT it cleans EVERYTHING. Every spot...even baked on cheese. As I understand it the models with pots and pans (which this doesn't have) cleans similarly but faster because of more water spouts, but they only had the ones with the trays on top, which means a little less room on top, so I chose this one...I don't mind the long load when it's on tough, but if you want faster, go with the pots and pan model, but still keep kitchenaid...it is excellent.
It's bigger than any I've had so we do fewer loads, and let me tell you, the food is caked on sometimes by the time we run a load. Even pulpy orange juice. Everything still comes clean and super shiny. The installer said make sure you use a rinse agent, so we do, and he was right. Super, squeaky clean. Even glasses with film from our old dishwasher come clean now! AND the peanut butter knife. You'll love it!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Made in America?

Good question - it's made by the whirlpool, maytag people, which I think are in America

Where is the silverware basket the door or the bottom rack

Bottom right....front to back...it's very spacious. Just know going in that you don't have the right side of the bottom shelf, but you'll love the size of the tray. Also we took off the separators at the top...they were cumbersome, but removable so you don't have to use them.

Can you cancel the dish washing cycle at any point since the operating buttons are on the top edge of the door? Doesn't look like you can access the controls while the door is closed while washer is running.

Yeah - you just pull it and you have the option of resuming.

What is the decibel level of the washer when running?

I can't remember but it's quiet. You hear water girgling between cycles, but it is super quiet when the cycle is running. No swishing. There are quiet models, but this is quieter than regular dishwashers even 5 years ago.

Are the Controls accessible with granite lip enclosure ?

The granite countertop covers the upper "lip" of the dishwasher completely. Will that affect the ability to use the controls?
No. You punch the controls in while the door is still open....when you close it it locks and begins.
