Giant capacity, QUIET, stable

I replaced my fancy, stinky, otherwise effective front loader with this gem.
I have washed the equivalent of 2 full loads of towels, jeans, winter coats and snow pants, mixed clothing, rugs, and dog beds in this behemoth.
On its WOOL cycle, I washed a boiled wool coat with years of salt stains that our dry cleaner insisted could not be remedied. Voila, it's as clean as the day I bought it 20 years ago! No kidding.
The Cabrio is nearly silent, and it spins out like a dream. Sometimes the clean clothes are barely moist!
It uses a unique method to gauge how much water to use. It makes a muffled whining sound, which I liken to a scanner, then the water sort of sprays down onto the clothes rather than rushing in through a big hose. This has meant a MUCH QUIETER experience even for my daughter's room upstairs, which shares a wall with the washer inlet hose wall. We used to hear the rush of water and shudder of the valves as our old front loader switched on and off to fill and rinse. I think this Whirlpool Cabrio takes a more "thoughtful" design approach.
The list of cycle options seems gratuitous until you read them and start to wonder how well you've actually been taking care of your washables. There's a ColorLast cycle that actually has preserved our many red shirts (Go, Bulldogs!) among other laundry items.
I am not a big fan of the theory that one can really, really know exactly how clean clothes get, unless you're talking about stain removal (which, let's face it, has a lot to do with timing and pre-treatment products anyway), BUT I think my clothes must be cleaner since there isn't even a hint of my detergent or softener scents on my clothes, etc. afterward. Not that I'm wasting softener. I can tell it's working because the familiar dry Chicago winter static cling is absent since I bought this in December.
The only caveat here is that when taking advantage of a machine that can wash larger loads, you have to consider your dryer's capacity, too.
Previously, we had a double capacity washer & a triple capacity dryer. Because of that difference, the drying times almost always matched the washing times. But now with the Cabrio, which functions like a triple, you'd assume I am back to the dryer taking longer. Well, the Cabrio makes up for that annoying time gap by spinning out the loads like a boss.
To wit, the digital timer on the machine is ACCURATE. If it says "22", your stuff will be done in twenty-two minutes, period.
I do not hate doing laundry. But if you do, you'll be enchanted by the tones the machine makes upon pressing the selection buttons, hearing the cycle end chimes, and especially the lid-open sound when you take a load out. We say it's like angels just did our laundry, so pleasing!
We bought this on sale for $450 the first weekend in December, so if you wait, it might go down in price again. I hope for your sake that $450 wasn't just a pre-holiday super special deal. Everyone else in the Chicago area wanted $550 or much more (!) at that time. Budget $30 for the *required* new attachment hoses, and $15 for responsible haul-away/recycling of your old machine.

Cleanup is a breeze, safety features abound

$80 at Best Buy, haven't found it anywhere else for less, doesn't go on sale.
It's the only one of its kind. Note: it's not advertised as having a cool-touch exterior (a deliberate design choice for some heated appliances) but it doesn't get real warm anyway. Also, the dimensions listed online make it seem like a monster, but it's not even as big as a breadbox.
The ease of cleanup is why I sprang for this: flip a dial, the oil drains through a fine-mesh filter into an airtight, lidded, heavy-duty plastic pan, slide that out and put it into the refrigerator for another day, and put the parts in the d/w.
The basket handle folds down and into itself, then into the fryer itself, so storing the entire unit is not an origami fight with my cabinet.
Also missing from the online description is its temp dial. Some pages say "Temps: one", which is wrong-o. Heatup to 360° took about 4 mins. The see-through lid was overtaken by condensation sometimes, but at least I could tell if the oil was fully bubbling top to bottom around the food.
To wit, after cooking 16 shaggy, breaded chicken cutlets (about 2 mins each, in batches of 4 or 5), the oil loss (absorbed by the food or drained off after cooking) was minimal. After chicken and chips, I replaced maybe 1 cup prior to filtering the oil and dropping risen yeast beignets. All right, all right, all riiight.
So far, worth every penny.

My load of sheets for a big mushroom shaped ball and often gets of balance...sheets are a big tangled mess...anyone else have this problem?

I always wash sheets with at least a couple of towels (not necessarily deliberately, it just happens this way) to tamp down sheets' natural tendency to billow.

I recently purchased a Cabrio washer I was wondering can u just use cold water on the cycles or do u have to have both hot and cold hooked up...also it seems that it is not putting enough water inside the drum to wash... thanks Angie

Yes, you need both. Some cycles require an optimal blend of hot and cold to make good on the promises Whirlpool makes about the effectiveness of all those cycle options.

And since the water is gently dispensed from the top of the load, near the soap tray, less water is needed to saturate the clothes. There are other design reasons to require less water, but I can tell you, don't worry!

Is it quiet to run

YES! It uses a unique system to gently and quietly fill, and because it's so stable (load-balancing and all), it isn't prone to shaking the roof of your house.

I'm looking for a small handy size fryer for one or two persons that won't require a large quantity of oil. How would this be for frying oysters and small single portions of French fries?

...Likely too large, and you'd need to always cook the fries first to avoid transferring any oyster-ness to the fries.

I think this fryer's 1.8 liter max oil capacity, for which 1.5 l is the minimum to operate it, might prove wasteful. Although you can filter and reuse the oil successfully, I wouldn't if there is seafood involved.

I bought this one because I cook long items, like churros and strips, but maybe one of the round fryers might be best for small, roundish-food batches.
