You found your new 4k TV - And I'll tell you why:

If you're anything like me, you've been wanting to upgrade your TV for a little while now. This is a big decision, money is tight, and you don't want to deal with the hassle of being wrong. You want something that is big, 4k, ultra high definition, maybe even has HDR, looks amazing, just simply works and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
So you begin to research. Hours and hours, days of carefully looking at TVs. Then it hits you, INFORMATION OVERLOAD, you're more confused than ever. So much conflicting info, reviews, tech specs, prices, marketing gimmicks... that one TV looked amazing until you realized it's lacking in one area or another and/or costs way too much. The search continues -
Or does it? After owning this TV for 3 months now, I can safely say that this TV is the one for 99% of people looking in this size/price range.
I'll break it down real quick - this TV meets or exceeds in every category that matters and is the most competitively priced combination of these high quality options. Here’s why:
PROS:
Sony Bravia – Brand name quality.
65 inches - HUGE! It costs a bit more, but you've always wanted a big TV. Do it - you'll be staring at this thing for years to come, why go down to a 55" or 60" to save a couple hundred bucks? The difference is night and day between a 55. I'm about 8-9 feet away and I can finally see the detail I was missing before.
4k – THE DETAIL! Stunning resolution. 4k content looks amazing. Future proof.
HDR – THE COLORS! Yes, this TV did not launch with HDR, but an update introduced it in late Sept. (2016) and it looks incredible! HDR is something you thought you could live without, until you realize how big of a difference it really makes. HDR options add $400-500 to TV's in this size range, not here. HDR is new, and it is the future. Trust me, the difference it makes is impossible to explain without seeing it first-hand.
Native 120hz – NO MOTION BLUR! Yes, this is a native 120hz and not a marketing ploy. This is one of the most important things a TV can have in my honest opinion. Fast, clear, non-blurry pictures. Soap opera effect if you want it (google it). Most cheaper TV's are 60hz and have 'fake' refresh rates. It's a marketing ploy. Don't get tricked. 60hz may save you $200, but why have a 4k TV, if it's going to be BLURRY in motion? 60hz is never an option if you want true clarity, watch sports, action movies, or play video games.
Smart TV – CUT THE CORD! Netflix, Amazon, Youtube, Pandora, & 100's more of streaming apps and even games, all in one remote! Android operating system and google play store. Internet required, and 25Mbps+ is best for streaming 4k content. You can stream Pandora from your phone and cast videos from mobile to your TV.
CONS:
NOTE: If you own this TV and are having software/connectivity issues from time to time, UPDATE ASAP! Even the Sept. HDR update was buggy. You need to update to the Nov. 17th update on Sony’s website or through the TV – I waited to write this review until the software was fixed. Internet connectivity would cut out every time I turned the TV on, input titles would stick on the TV, apps would freeze or not work and I would have to reboot the TV. Many have experienced these issues I found. Finally, this most recent update fixed all of those issues. TV stays connected to my router, no little bugs anymore, apps all work flawlessly, I can stream from my phone whenever I want (even if the TV is off), and it never has trouble finding it and turning on. Great job, Sony team, for supporting your product!
Black Levels / Local Dimming Zones– The blacks are pitch black in normal lighting conditions, but a bit lighter in a completely dark room. But I’m nitpicking here, because it’s inherent in the technology of all LCD TV’s. Plus, you won’t notice it, unless you’re coming from a $2k+ OLED – or a high local zone dimming LCD. I watch a ton of movies in the dark and this is not an issue, but I’m listing it for videophiles.
Artifacts – Again, nitpicking, but when CineMotion (soap opera effect) is on high, the interpolated frames can have small, odd, artifacts with extremely fast motion and high contrasting backgrounds, especially around subtitles. Again, not noticeable, unless you’re looking for it. This can be turned off or brought to a lower setting easily. I still keep it on High for most everything though.
TLDR SUMMARY– Stop wasting time you could be using to watch your new TV – this is a high quality, big 65 inch, brand name, 4k, ultra high def, HDR, native 120hz fast motion, Smart TV, that looks beyond amazing! It is well rounded for all content viewing – gaming (low input lag), movies, sports. Above all else, you will not find ALL of these features in one TV for less money, stop searching. If you find something cheaper, it is most likely skimping or lacking somewhere, and hiding it. Your next step up is going to make a marginal difference if at all, and cost hundreds if not thousands more. Rest assured, you will enjoy this TV and aren’t leaving anything on the table.
