After 17 years with paying for Dish, I finally decided to cut the cord. I did the research and bought an antenna, booster, and a TiVo Bolt. I wanted to have a DVR since I had grown accustom to having one before. The set up was relatively painless, and went a little quicker than instructions tell you. I does take some work figuring out which channels to check and uncheck in the channel list, but when you finally figure it out, it works similar to a regular tv. The recommended show recordings were a nuisance, and I had to figure out quickly how do stop the recordings. Deleting the recordings is slow and cumbersome. My problems came later. My particular TiVo came with a year subscription to the guide, which you have to subscribe to in order for the TiVo to work properly. After updates, sometimes you would lose channels for a day or two, then they would show back up again as if nothing had happened. The final straw was I had some channels disappear altogether. I could find them on the signal strength menu, but not on my channel list, so I couldn't tune to them. After 3 months of talking to customer service and numerous cases (which they just kept closing without fixing the problem) I still don't have the channels. I asked for a couple of months of the guide service since I had lost it, and they declined. Also, if I quit my subscription, they won't even fix the problem. I cut the cord to stop having to pay someone else for a free product, totally not worth $150/yr when other dvr services provide it with the purchase of their product. Buyer beware, they don't stand behind their product!
