It will run Android apps!!! Great buy.

After doing a few hours of research this looked like the system for me. I wanted alot for a little including the ability to run android apps. And Best Buy had it on sale. However 3 different sales people told me flat out it does not run android apps even when I showed them Googles listing it as app ready. Once you power it up it will update to Chrome build 53.x or higher you can run almost all android apps. Some will not resize, but even this will get resolved. HOWEVER, if you live remotely like many here in Maine, it will not automatically update over a cellular network (i.e., hotspot, jetpack, etc). That protects you from a surprise data usage charge. There are three workarounds. Go somewhere you have wi-fi access and update. Make a recovery thumb drive on a pc or mac. Or for those with good pc skills and on an unlimited data plan. Do a Ctrl Alt t to enter the CrOSH shell and enter the command line "update_over_cellular enable" without the quotes. Then type "exit" to close the shell tab again without the quotes. I did the thumb drive first since I wanted to have recovery media, then I did the command line change. All of this can be found by a careful search of the Google Chromebook Support forums. Remember, if you have a normal Wi-Fi setup this will happen automatically. Best Buy employees should be aware of this. Android enabled Chromebooks are the hottest thing this year and there is no better buy than this ACER R11. Buy it with confidence.
