I did a lot of research before buying this TV. The upscaling ability is what sold me because our cable provider is unlikely to have much (any) 4K content for a long time. We have a 42" 1080 HD TV in the bedroom and this set puts it to shame. To make matters more striking, this set replaces an old Sony 55" 720 DLP with a bulb that was on its last legs. So, I was expecting to be impressed. But, the color, detail and overall picture quality of the 900E is even better than I hoped. The tech reviews said it had near 4K quality on normal HD signals. I'm certainly no expert but I'm stunned.

I was surprised how Best Buy interpreted my comment, "The upscaling ability is what sold me because our cable provider is unlikely to have much (any) 4K content for a long time." They listed it as a "con" statement under "Use with or without cable." In fact, it was just the opposite. This TV does an AMAZING job upscaling regular 1080 content to what appears to be a very near 4K picture. That's why I bought it. Now, after several weeks, I haven't changed my mind. I'm still just as impressed as the day they delivered it.
