No Buyer's Remorse!!
on July 8, 2017

I have bought (and returned) many TVs in the last 2 months while trying to furnish a new house. Philips, TCL, 2 Sony's, Hisense, and Vizio are named I've tried. Only 1 of the Sony's and this Vizio have stuck.
Black levels are fantastic, no problems with casting, picture is gorgeous, and the settings are great. I love the Calibrated picture setting.
What I am not too keen on is the remote. There are no video control keys, etc. I also am not too fond of the apps not being built into the display. I've heard that a software update will fix this for the M and P-series displays. Until then, I've purchased a Roku Premiere Plus to avoid having to cast. It works just fine, I just don't find it appealing.
Display quality and Vizio's customer service make this purchase more than worth it!!

Not Worth the Sale Price

I purchased this TV after failed attempts at experimenting with lesser brands. After reading all of the great reviews and seeing blacks and motion handling as pros for the 700D, I thought I couldn't go wrong. I thought I had finally found the best TV for under $1,000.
What I actually had purchased was a TV that froze whenever I went to change the volume while watching something on an app. I got a TV with terrible clouding and horrific contrast in black and dark scenes. I got a TV with a buggy UI, terrible pixelation problems with motion handling, and unnatural, harsh colors on SD content - even after HDR and proper calibration.
If you watch a lot of TV, care about what your eyes are looking at, and want to say you spent your money well, then my recommendation would be to shell out a bit more money and go for the 900E from Sony's BRAVIA line. Can't go wrong with that TV. If not the 900E, go for the Vizio P55-E1. It's not much more than the sale price of this TV and it has technology equipped to handle motion and eliminate clouding, etc.

The True Value
on June 6, 2017
Posted by: MBTV
So let me start out by saying that I started out on the hunt for a large smart TV for under $550. I bought a Philips 4K tv from Walmart, was disappointed in the smart features (or lack thereof) AND the picture quality was incredibly poor. I returned the Philips and purchased the highly acclaimed TCL "bang for your buck" 4K Roku TV. The Roku platform was very impressive, but unfortunately the picture was not. Needless to say, I returned the TCL.
After that experiment with the ultimate budget-friendly TVs, I decided to shell it a bit more money for a highly recommended big brand name TV. I purchased the Sony XBR55X700D from Best Buy based on the stellar reviews it had on this site, the brand name, the BRAVIA line, and the sale price was right below $850. I thought it was the perfect compromise...until a couple of days later when I was disgusted by the fact that I had paid a nice chunk of change for a TV that could not handle SD quality material, could not adjust the volume without freezing or stuttering, had horrendous blacks and dark scene performance, and had worse motion handling than the first two (much cheaper) TVs that I had purchased. I returned it within a week.
I went back to the drawing board and did my homework this time. I researched for countless hours and learned about all of the different technologies available, what those technologies do, read more professional AND personal reviews, watched hours of videos online, and I had it narrowed down to three before entering Best Buy: the Samsung KS8000, Vizio P55-E1, and the Sony XBR55X900E.
From a spec aspect, the Vizio P55-E1 should've been the perfect TV and the answer to all of my needs. I was not sold on the SmartCast capabilities, but I figured it had to be better than the buggy performance of the 700D. The KS8000 had insane, eye-popping colors (as Samsungs tend to have), but I didn't like the fact that it was edge-lit and not FALD. The 900E was lagging behind in 3rd place due to my negative experience with the 700D. That all changed when I got into the store and finally got to look at the TVs. I spent a good 2 hours watching, comparing, and analyzing screens/performance. I had even thrown some OLED TVs into the running. What I found was that nothing but the higher end ($5,000+) OLED TVs (and maybe the 930E) could compete with the 900E's picture quality and performance. My God was it stunning.
I ordered the 900E, picked it up the next day, hooked it up, and I have FINALLY found what I have been hunting for - true quality and value. The VA panel coupled with FALD, 120Hz native refresh rate, Sony's X1 processor, and HDR make this TV the absolute best performance purchase. The picture is PHENOMENAL. Motion is smooth across all material - whether it be SD, 720p, 1080p, or 4K (but of course 4K still reigns supreme here). The colors are magnificent and spot on. The contrast is unbelievable. The Android UI is actually fast and pleasant to use. The 900E is just the perfect TV. No buyer's remorse or return this time!
TIPS for your search:
1.) Be willing to spend a bit of money. You really are paying for quality and will get what you pay for. If you watch a lot of TV and care about what you're seeing, the price is more than worth it. It's a true value.
2.) Always, and I mean ALWAYS, go and look for yourself before making your purchase. At the end of the day, it will be your eyes watching the TV, not Random Reviewer #5 or Cedric from Rtings.
3.) Specs, technology, and user interface do matter. There is a difference between FALD and edge-lit displays. There is a difference between IPS and VA panels. There is a difference between 60Hz native and 120Hz native refresh rates. And in addition to specs, technology matters just as much. The P55-E1 checks off all of the boxes that the 900E does and then some (P55-E1 supports Dolby Vision), but there is a stark difference between Vizio's interface and technology compared to Sony's or Samsung's. Play around with the menus and see what you like. Do not purchase a TV purely based on specs. Make sure your decision is well-rounded so that you're satisfied with your purchase.
Happy hunting, everyone!

does this tv handle 1080 content well? i mean almost every satellite & broadcast channel is only 1080 so can this tv handle that well and make it look decent?

Absolutely! The 900E does the best job I have seen a 4K TV do with 720p, 1080p, and even SD content.
