nice laptop but a few issues

I bought this after reading the prior great reviews and looking at the laptop on display at best buy store. its a beautiful, sturdy design. nice keyboard where the backlight actually has good visibility. great sound (with headphones). however, I have 3 complaints:
1. the power button is located on the front right side. exactly where you would naturally grab a laptop to pick it up/ move it, etc. so I kept shutting it off every time id reposition it on the desk. worst placement for power button I have ever seen.
2. when doing anything even mildy graphic intensive, the fans come on rather loud and then begin to cycle between high and extra high speeds almost rhythmically. sounds like you are in a wind storm fast-slow-fast-slow-fast-slow. very loud and annoying with the speed shifting every 1 second.
3. using the HDMI output for HD monitor intermittently cuts out for a second or 2 when using graphics intensive things. I was playing a 2D browser based game and the external monitor would go black and lose sound every couple minutes, then pop right back on. the main laptop screen is ok, doesn't flicker. just the external HDMI line.
bottom line. I'm not happy. my HP envy from 2 years ago did a better job with the video than this does. computer passes all diagnostic tests. so I assume design flaws? returning it 24 hours later for something better

protects from scratches only, not drops

although this product looks very professional (I got numerous compliments), it doesn't do much in the way of protecting your $600 phone. The Galaxy 4 has a glass screen that is so big, it goes to the very borders of the case. this makes the phone extremely easy to crack, even in a minor fall. I dropped my phone about 18" with this cover on and the whole screen shattered. if you use this product, please handle your phone very carefully.
The second annoying issue is where to hold the front cover flap when taking pictures, which we all do a lot of these days. you have to let the cover dangle to the side so you can see the screen, yet not let it swing around too far that it blocks the camera eye. it becomes annoying very quick to fumble with this, and fumbling can easily lead to dropping (see above)
What's great about it: covers the screen, sleek, stylish, low profile
What's not so great: no protection to edges of phone, gets in the way when taking pictures

not great

Ive had this vacuum for about a year. bought it for quick clean up jobs, and especially for the car. When it was brand new, I was almost able to vacuum the front and back floors of the car on one battery charge... almost. with just occasional use, after a year, it dies in about 3 minutes now. It also takes about 12 hours to charge fully. 12 hours for 3 minutes of use. not worth the wait. buy this only if you need it for very quick jobs.
aside from the battery issues, it would otherwise be a great unit. small, portable, and good accessories included.
What's great about it: size
What's not so great: battery life

first one i bought had a noisy fan, so it kept me awake at night. i exchanged it at best buy for a quieter replacement.
it does a decent job at putting humidity back into the air and looks modern enough.
there are some useless features like the humidity percentage buttons. i mean do i really need do decide if 55% too much humidity??? or maybe today i feel like i only want 45% (range is 45 to 55 in 5% increments) big difference (sarcasm)
and the UV light to sterilize the water? is that really necessary? are you going to keep the same water in the tank for 3 years until it gets rotten and needs to be defunken by a tiny light? i drink tap water without running through uv light, why does it need to be sterilized to evaporate into the air?
the mesh element disintegrates after a few washes, even following the care instructions. and it gets really dirty brown, so you will need to wash it often. why does it get so funky? i mean... i purified the water with the UV light feature before it enters the element, didnt I?

can you get rid of an operating system to replace it with another?

yes, but you will need a way to install the new one, possibly a cd drive or large flash drive maybe.

Which netbook would be the best for a kid who has a blog, is going into 8th grade(a.k.a.) will be writing a 10 page paper, and will upload pictures???

will need research, typing speed, high speed internet and multi-tasking abilities
the HP mini 1xxx series does have a nice sized keyboard for typing and are affordable. personally i think a value priced desktop would be a better choice though. or, buy yourself the netbook and give your kid your old computer. I never type on my mini, i always go to my desktop with the 24" screen to do my typing and photo editing. plus i cant see buying expensive office software for such a small, basic netbook. download free openoffice.org for your netbook if you get one.
