Really Good Powerhouse Gaming PC

I've been playing on the Asus - ROG Zephyrus G16 for the past couple days. Here are a few of my impressions so far.
First, this feels like a premium build laptop. When I first picked it up, it looked and felt like I was hold a MacBook. I really like the aluminum build and it has some cool lighting options on the rear lid. It's super thin, has multiple USB and USB C ports along with HDMI and microphone input. I like that all the ports are on the side of the laptop as opposed the rear. Just makes cord management way easier. The keyboard layout feels good to use, although the track pad will need to be adjusted for most. I had to press as far left as possible in order to make a click on something on the screen. If I pressed the middle at all, it wouldn't take. The speakers sounded really good too. They don't have that muffled volume that many low quality speakers have. It can get pretty loud too, which is a good thing when I talk about the fan volume.
The biggest pro for me is the screen. My games looked absolutely beautiful. This is my first experience with an OLED 240HZ screen and WOW! The boldness of the colors, the blacks are super deep. I play a ton of first person shooters and the clarity of the environments and movement of enemies was just clearer. It's so hard to explain in text. It just looks amazing and improves the gaming experience so much.
So I had some big issues with the actual gameplay. When I first booted up the PC, download steam and started playing I was experience HUGE framerate drops. Like from 120 to 15. It honestly made games unplayable. I tried updating all driver, bios, Armoury Crate and nothing made a difference. I was emailing back and forth with tech support. Finally I just wiped the PC and redownloaded everything. After I did that I stopped experiencing frame rate drops and everything has been running incredibly smooth. I am constantly running at above 120 fps. Everything looks gorgeous but the fans do make it sound like an airplane is taking off in my bedroom. I did take off a star mainly because I have had two game crashes in about 5 hours while playing. I dont know if it was the PC or the game itself.
Overall, it's a great gaming PC. You'll have more than enough power to play every game imaginable and you'll be future proofed for many years to come. Even with some of my gameplay issues that were resolved, I would still recommend checking out the ASUS - ROG Zephyrus G16.

Unique Twist to Earbuds

Bose Open Earbuds Ultra are what Bose self describes as “Earbuds Reimagined.” It’s definitely varies from the current trend of earbuds. The earbuds do not actually go inside of your ear canal. So this means you can hear the outside world and noise cancellation is not a feature. These are not going to be earbuds that you’ll want to wear on an airplane or maybe at the gym. I wore them for about 3 days while cleaning and hanging out at home. They worked great for that purpose. The question you need to ask yourself before purchasing these is this: Do you want to be cut off from the world while listening to your music, podcast, etc. or to do like the idea of your music commingling with your everyday activities?
The main pro of the Open Earbuds Ultra is that the sound quality is terrific which is to be expected from Bose. This should be the main thing when considering any kind of headphones and Bose delivers as always. It will take a moment to get use to the earbuds not being inside your ears. You can still hear all the highs, lows, bass and it sounds amazing. Again, a lot of your listening experience will come from how much noise there is in the background. Music will get drowned out if you’re in a noisy environment. Something else to keep in mind is that if you play music loud, others will be able to hear it. My daughter said she could hear my music when I turned my volume up to 70%. If
The comfort of wearing the earbuds is both a pro and con to me. It actually feels better to me to not have earbuds inserted in your ear canal. Sometimes I feel like there’s pressure from wearing something like AirPods. Having the speakers sit right by your ear feels great. However the trade off is that the earbuds have to clip onto your ears which I didn’t find the most comfortable. I didn’t like the feeling of having something clamped to my ears even thought they were incredibly secure, more so than other earbuds.
Another negative I have with the Open Earbuds Ultra is that I am not a fan of how they look aesthetically. This is a personal preference but I didn’t like the way it looked when I was wearing them. Others opinions will differ. I didn’t like the volume control either on the earbuds. It felt like it jumped too much when I wanted to volume higher or too low when I wanted it lowered. I ended up just using my phone to control volume.
I really like these earbuds. I plan on using them around the house when I’m in a quieter environment. I do actually like the feeling of not having buds inserted into my ear. As I stated earlier, your intended use will really determine if these headphone will be an appropriate purchase for you. If you want to use while traveling, at the gym or have noise cancellation then buy a different set of Bose headphones. If you want to have the music integrated into your life but not feel like you’re completely cut off then I would highly recommend giving the Bose Open Earbuds Ultra a try.

Great for vacuuming, Not so much for mopping

First off, I do genuinely love iRobot vacuum cleaners. I really like the idea that you can come home to a nice, freshly vacuumed house while you're at work or running errands. When I saw the iRobot was "upgrading" their vacuum/mop combo, I knew this was something that I'd want to check out. Unfortunately, the Roomba Combo j9+ did not live up to expectations.
Set up for the combo was super easy with the iRobot app. I did run into a circumstance where I had to reconnect the vacuum to my app which I thought was weird but not too troublesome.
As expected, the vacuuming aspect of the Roomba was superb. The vacuum mapped out the interior of my home after the first run and I have been running daily for the past 10 days. The vacuum does a great job of picking up crumbs and other debris that's left on the floor. When it's done cleaning, it returns to its base to empty and recharge. It works great and I'm incredibly satisfied with the vacuum part of the combo.
I'm imagining 99% of people reading this review are going to want to know about the mopping feature of the machine. The system in general is fairly easy to use. You fill up an interior plastic container in the housing of the base. The vacuum while leave the dock, back up and fill up with water. Then as the machine is vacuuming the rear of the unit comes down with a small mop attached and mops while vacuuming. The best way I can describe the mopping is that it just leaves streaky water marks on your floor. It didn't seem like it was doing a very good job of mopping. I purposely left a mark on the floor and the mop wasn't strong enough to clean it. If you're looking for something to spread some water on the ground and pick up some of the surface level dirt then the Roomba Combo j9+ will work okay. For what it was advertised to do, I expected more. For that reason, I cannot recommend that you purchase this item.

GoPros Best Action Camera

I’ve owned multiple GoPro’s cameras. When I saw the GoPro Hero 12 Black announced I figured it was time to upgrade from my Hero 9. These cameras are designed for someone like me. I love getting action shots of me and my family out on the lake or attaching the camera to my helmet while I’m out cruising around on my OneWheel. The camera will get all the shots you want, won’t get destroyed by water and the videos look great.
The GoPro Hero 12 Black is the newest release in the Hero lineup. First thing I want to mention is how great the enduro battery is with the Hero 12. I was able to get over 60 minutes at 5k 60 frames of filming. That’s a big step up from the old batteries. The other big additional feature on the Hero 12 Black is HDR video and photo. This is a major step up from my Hero 9. My videos and photos look much more vivid. I don’t know if the majority of the users will notice much of a difference filming with HDR on. My favorite feature is the video stabilization. Hypersmooth is what makes GoPro great. You cannot have an action camera where all your videos come out looking bumpy or blurry. Hypersmooth 6.0 makes all your motion videos look incredibly stable so that you don’t miss any of the action or your audience doesn’t get motion sickness. I took some video out on the river of me stand up paddle boarding. The video quality was amazing and everything looked smooth and clean. The GoPro provides something that you can’t do with your phone camera alone. It allows you to capture moments in places that would destroy your phone. You get to capture rare memories and that’s priceless.
I own a Hero 9 but I have used a Hero 11 Black. The big question I would guess is whether or not to upgrade if you have a Hero 11. If the inclusion of HDR is a must have for you, then this is a no brainer upgrade. The Hero 12 Black is the best GoPro camera I have used and I would highly recommend picking this up!

Works as advertised

I think most guys want to be well groomed down below but honestly, it’s a little scary. You don’t want to risk using a regular razor and other trimmers are not necessarily designed for that sensitive of an area. So I was intrigued to try out Manscaped Lawnmower 5.0 and see if the product lives up to the social media advertising that I see.
First, the product is packaged very nicely. It comes with two different types of blades. Trimmer blades which can get down to 1.4 mm of hair length or a foil blade which can shave up to 5 mm of growth. The trimmer blade can use three different attachments (which are included) to get you a trim up to 12 mm. The kit even comes “Crop Soother” which is described as “ball aftershave lotion.” I think that no matter the look you’re going for, the kit will include the attachment product to satisfy your needs.
As for the shave itself, it was surprisingly painless. One thing that I never knew I needed was a light on the razor. That little addition made the shave incredibly easy and made sure that you didn’t miss any spots. It also made it easier to keep the razor at the correct angle. I didn’t have any snags except once when I titled the blade a little too much, so user error. The shave was relatively quick and the end result had me looking well groomed.
Bottom line, this is a product for shaving men’s lower region and it works as advertised. I’m not scared to have future shaves and that’s the most important. I will continue to use the Manscaped Lawnmower 5.0 and recommend that purchase the product.

Easy to use smart lock

I wanted to look into getting a smart door lock because I wanted to have a method for my daughter to enter the home without giving her a key. The first thing I noticed about this Level smart lock was that it did not look like a smart lock. There’s no branding on the exterior or interior locking mechanisms. The finish looks nice and very high end. The set comes with the lock, all the screws needed, two keys and a bolt extender in case you have a deep installation location. Speaking of installation, it was super easy. Install the battery into the lock bolt, uninstall your old lock and install the new one. You will need to download the Level home app. Syncing the lock to the app only took a couple minutes. Once you calibrated the lock, you can hold down a button on the app to lock and unlock your doors. I went about 25 feet from the lock to test the range and it worked like it should. I also synched it up with my apple home and get notification when the door is locked/unlocked on my cell phone. It’s a super simple product to modernize your home. If you’re looking for a reliable smart lock, I’d highly recommend check out this product from Level.

Nice wrist band for the Apple Watch Ultra.

I got this band for my Apple Watch Ultra because I wanted to have a black colored nylon band. Apple brand name versions only come in green, cream and orange as of the time of this review. So the obvious questions is how does the quality of this nylon band compare to the brand name version sold by Apple?
First, the Rugged Nylon band appears to be strong quality. I’ve used the band for about a week and have not had any issues with it. The band connects seamlessly to the Apple Watch Ultra. The nylon band fits fine and the hook that connects to the hoops keeps your watch in place nicely.
I took the band to San Diego with me over the weekend. I used it in a couple of pools and in the Pacific Ocean. I know Apple makes some band specifically for ocean usage but I do not see any damage done to my band. They also held up fine in the pool which was to be expected.
So far, I do not have any complaint about the Rugged Nylon band. If you own an Apple Watch Ultra and want to have some additional color options at a good price point, I would highly recommend purchasing this wrist band.

Nice Vacuum for Small Jobs

I got the Shark Wandvac Self Emptying unit because I was looking for a cordless portable vacuum to use around the house. I have carpeted stairs and needed a vacuum to use on the staircase and other tight places around my house.
The package comes with the vacuum and the self emptying docking station. Assembly is super easy and doesn’t take up a ton of space in the house. You charge the vacuum by attaching it to the docking station. One really nice feature is that you can turn off the self emptying mechanism. This is handy if you have a job in the house while people are sleeping but don’t want to wake them up with the loud self emptying. Now let’s discuss performance.
First and most importantly, the Shark Wandvac does a really good job at cleaning. The vacuum has a clear holder and there was a lot of dust and debris in the holder after I was done vacuuming. The vacuum is very light and super easy to maneuver while using. It’s able to make super angles and worked great in the staircase.
My one complaint would be the battery life. I do not know what Shark advertised as the usage time but I was able to get about 20 mins on a full charge. This would work fine for a small job or spot cleaning but if you’re looking to get continuous usage or you have a large home, you may have to charge in between jobs. I vacuumed my top floor and had to recharge to complete to bottom floor (the vacuum battery died when I started my lower floor). The recharge time for the vacuum was about 2-3 hours. I took off a star from my review because this battery life is a little too short for my liking.
If you’re looking for a lightweight portable vacuum to keep in a room or maybe somewhere that you do not want to carry a full sized vacuum, then the Shark Wandvac should work great for you. If you need a vacuum to do large jobs, I’m not sure this vacuum will provide the battery longevity that you need.

Beast of a Gaming Laptop

I’ve been using the Alienware x15 R2 for the last 5 days and here are my initial impressions.
First, the laptop looks great. It’s packaged very well. It feels like you’re opening a high end product. The laptop itself is very thin and sleek. This is the third Alienware laptop that I’ve owned and the x15 R2 is noticeably thinner. The potential downside of the thin casing is the there’s only one USB A port, along with two USB - C ports. One of the USB C ports is a Thunderbolt port for external monitor use. The laptop came with a USB C to Ethernet adapter. This could be an issue if peripherals like a controller, headset or cooling pad need to use a non- USB C outlet. I ended up buying an adapter and problem solved.
As for the gaming, this laptop is a beast. The 3070 ti handles everything you could possibly want in regards to gaming needs. I was playing Destiny 2, running at 120 fps and it looked amazing. I didn’t experience any frame rate drops during gameplay. The 360 mhz refresh rate of the screen makes all gameplay seem like it’s really fast. If you’re not used to higher refresh screen rates it takes a few minutes to get used to how fast it looks.
The main concern with gaming laptops is the cool. Dell states that this laptop is designed to run fine at temperature up to 96 degrees C. During my gaming sessions, the laptop was regularly running at 90 - 95. I didn’t notice any throttling during gameplay at these temperatures. Dell has advertised there’s a four way venting to help reduce some of the heat. If it’s a concern, get a cooling pad but the heat shouldn’t make a difference.
There’s a few additional feature I wanted to mention. The keyboard on this laptop feels so good. I don’t know what it is about Alienware keyboards but I personally believe they feel the best to use. The keys are spaced nicely and everything feels natural. Also the speakers sound surprisingly good. The sound came out sharp and clear. Some laptops sound muffled but I didn’t experience that at all. In regards to the battery life, I was getting about 2.5 hours of life while just web browsing and I had a few small downloads. You probably won’t be gaming while not plugged into the adapter so this should be a concern.
Overall, this laptop is amazing. As I’ve mentioned before, this is my third Alienware laptop and it’s definitely the best. The sleekness and performance make me feel very comfortable highly recommending the Alienware x15 R2.

When it comes to gaming performance, the slightest disadvantage can be the difference between winning and losing a match. With a 240Hz refresh rate, lightning fast 1ms (GTG) response time and full adaptive G-Sync compatibility and FreeSync Premium support, you can be sure that the Odyssey G4 won’t let you down on the battlefield.

Great Gaming Monitor

It’s been about 3 years since I upgraded my gaming monitor. After seeing the quality of the gameplay on the Samsung Odyssey I wish I would have done it sooner.
This monitor is 27 inches, which in my opinion is the sweet spot for gaming monitors. I play a lot of FPS and the size is perfect. The monitor comes with an HDMI cable and a DVI cable so you’ll be able to use the input that you would like. The screen is adjustable in height, can tilt and also be turned to horizon view. Set up is essentially plug and play. There’s a QR code to register you product but no additional downloads.
The main thing that I noticed when playing was how smooth the gameplay looked. The 240 hz refresh rate is a game changer. I play at 120 fps and it looked incredible going from 144 Hz to 240 Hz. I was playing Destiny 2 and it looked like an upgraded version of the game. It’s so hard to explain but the movement looked so good that I had to readjust my play style to hit shots. Everything looked smooth and fast. The colors popped and made me notice things in game that I hadn’t noticed in 100s of game hours. Blacks were dark, bright colors really stood out. There’s no lag time between gameplay and what appears on screen. Lastly, the monitor looks very upscale while sitting on your desk. I know that’s not too important but you want something that looks classy in your gaming setup.
I honestly didn’t realize how much of difference an upgraded monitor would make. It has made my gaming experience much better. I absolutely recommend picking up this Samsung Odyssey gaming monitor.

I have had this antennae installed for last year worked great, until yesterday. suddenly lost all reception.
I have had this antennae installed for last year, worked great. Recommended to family and friends. Yesterday abruptly lost all reception. What caused this? Nothing changed with my set up. Has this happened to anyone else? What is the best resolution? Thanks in advance.

we do not keep all our music on our iphones. we use ipod nanos. can we plug in the nano to this device? love the portability of this unit.
You can run a cord directly to the speaker. The cord is not included with the speaker. The cord runs from the headphone jack to the speaker.
