I have used my TI-83 since high school, and it is a great calculator to have around when you need to crunch some numbers. This works great for any math classes.
What's great about it: great calculator
What's not so great: not much memory, screen is low res

Director Peter Weir's high-seas adventure Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World stars Russell Crowe as Captain Jack Aubrey. Along with his loyal crew, Aubrey engages in a grand game of cat-and-mouse with a renegade French frigate from Napoleon's army. Adapted from the series of novels by Patrick O'Brian, the film is presented on DVD in widescreen with a wealth of audio options. Not only can viewers choose either DTS 5.1 Surround Sound or Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound versions of the original English soundtrack, there are also Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks dubbed in French and Spanish. Along with English and Spanish subtitles, the disc is rounded out by a handful of theatrical trailers. Fans interested in additional supplemental features should check out the two-disc edition that was released simultaneously with this disc. A full-screen version is also available.

Good seafaring movie

This movie shows the hardships of a seafaring life without glamorizing it like Pirates does. Russell Crowe does an excellent job, and the acting is overall excellent. It is, however, a bit gory and violent for kids.
What's great about it: effectively communicates the difficulties of life at sea
What's not so great: not as action-packed as many will hope for

Satisfying link between the trilogies

Revenge of the Sith has some of the greatest lightsaber duels ever seen, but falls short in terms of dialogue and acting. Regardless, this is a movie that any self-respecting action or sci-fi movie lover should watch.
What's great about it: great action
What's not so great: lousy storyline, some cheesy acting

Some have criticized this two-disc special edition of the mega box-office smash Spider-Man, but those pans are way off base. In reality, there is little, if anything, wrong with this DVD. To begin with, the visual presentation, framed at 1.85:1 and anamorphic (yes, there is a full-frame edition out there to confuse consumers), is near perfect. Detail is solid and colors are vivid. In addition, the darker scenes, a crucial element of the film, are stable, with no signs of breakdown. The auditory part of this set, presented in 5.1 Dolby Digital (in both English and French) is both aggressive and crisp. Dialogue is never washed out by sound effects, while at the same time, the use of those effects with the surround speakers is generous. The real marvel of this disc though are the special features, and they are plentiful. The first disc, with the movie, not only contains subtitled facts about the production and the history of Spider-Man, numerous television spots and theatrical trailers (for this and other Columbia/TriStar films), and bibliographies for the main cast, but also two full-length, scene-specific commentaries, one from director Sam Raimi, co-producers Grant Curtis and Laura Ziskin, and star Kirsten Dunst and the second from visual effects producer John Dykstra and his team. The second disc continues the supplements. Divided into two sections, "The Web of Spider-Man -- The Comic" and "The Goblin's Lair -- The Movie." As you might have figured, the first section covers the history and mythology of the comic book series. There is a documentary from the comic book artists over the years, a comic book archive of Spidey over the years, galleries for the villains and the girlfriends, and more. The second section covers the film, with a nice documentary on the making of the film, with plenty of behind-the-scene footage, and an even longer E! Entertainment television special called "Spider-mania." In addition are a couple of very short screen tests, profiles on director Raimi and composer Danny Elfman, a gag reel, and plenty of conceptual art and production paintings. If this all weren't enough, also included are a number of DVD-ROM features for each disc, including the ability to create your own commentary. There is plenty here to please any fan of this film, from those that grew up with this classic comic book character, to those that are newly introduced.

Federal agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is having a very bad day in this unique, action-packed drama series in which events unfold in real time and the entire season takes place within one 24-hour day. Bauer is the director of the Counter Terrorist Unit in Los Angeles. He's also a married man who is attempting to rebuild a trust-depleted relationship with his wife Teri (Leslie Hope), and a father to independent-minded teen daughter Kim (Elisha Cuthbert). Shortly after midnight on the morning of the California Democratic presidential primary, Jack receives information that an assassination attempt will be carried out against Maryland senator David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) -- the first African-American with a legitimate chance of capturing the White House -- sometime within the next 24 hours. Jack's mission is made even more difficult when he learns from his boss Richard Walsh (Michael O'Neill) that someone within CTU may be a mole involved with the foreign-based conspiracy. Meanwhile, Palmer, unaware of the assassination plot, receives a phone call from a dogged reporter who says she has evidence that his son Keith (Vicellous Reon Shannon) committed murder. He allegedly killed his sister's rapist. Palmer initiates an investigation to uncover the truth and must decide whether to break the story himself or wait. Jack is contacted by terrorist Ira Gaines (Michael Massee), who informs him that his wife and daughter have been kidnapped by Gaines' henchmen. Gaines threatens to kill them if Jack refuses to follow his detailed instructions. Gaines' goal is simple: Jack is to carry out the assassination against Palmer himself. As the hours pass, the conspiracy deepens, and Jack learns the surprising truth behind the plot and his role in it.

This three-disc set contains all 22 episodes from the Emmy Award-winning first season of the situation comedy Arrested Development. Each is presented in an anamorphic widescreen transfer that preserves the original broadcast aspect ratio of 1.78:1. English soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. English, Spanish, and French subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include three commentary tracks recorded by series creator Mitchell Hurwitz. He is joined by many of the cast members on one of those commentary tracks. Deleted scenes, original songs by David Schwartz, and footage from a panel discussion on the show held at the Museum of Television & Radio round out this excellent collection from 20th Century Fox.

sophisticated humor

Cancelled by FOX after an abbreviated 3rd season, Arrested Development follows the story of a riches to rags family. The humor in the show is nonstop and often subtle, and much of the hilarity comes from the superb characterization. Highly recommended.
What's great about it: hilarious once you get to know the characters
What's not so great: you need to see a few episodes before it becomes really funny

Steve Oedekerk's martial arts comedy Kung Pow: Enter the Fist comes to DVD with a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, while a Spanish soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital Surround. English and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by the director, alternate scenes and deleted scenes, a making-of featurette, trailers, and promotional spots. Although the film was a box-office dud, this is a solid disc from 20th Century Fox.

stupid humor

If you like crazy, over-the-top comedy and/or Kung Fu, this movie may just interest you. Featuring much dubbed footage (audio and video) from an old Kung-Fu-style movie, Kung Pow is foolish but entertaining humor.
What's great about it: hilariously stupid, good parody of Kung Fu movies
What's not so great: the story is pretty lame

The wacky Zucker brothers are at it again with their '80s cold war spoof Top Secret! Paramount's work on this 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer is only mildly passable at best. There is an overabundance of dirt, grain, and other defects in the transfer, and some of the colors and black levels aren't nearly as sharp as one might hope. While the image is decent, Paramount could have done a much better job at cleaning up this print. The soundtrack is available in both Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in English and Dolby 2.0 Stereo in French. The 5.1 soundtrack on this disc is evenly mixed with a few directional effects sprinkled throughout the movie. All aspects of the mix are free and clear of any excessive hiss or distortion. Also included on this disc are English subtitles and closed captions. Fans of this nutty comedy will be happy to see the inclusion of four deleted scenes from the film. The scenes are in very poor condition, but are quite amusing. A very funny commentary track by director Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, Jerry Zucker; producers Jon Davidson and Hunt Lowry; and moderator Fred Rubin provide a belly full of laughs and chuckles all the way though. Sure, there are a few stories about the production and history of the film, though mostly this is just a goofily entertaining commentary full of funny asides. Finally, there are three storyboard sequences and a theatrical trailer for the film.

Set in East Germany in the 80s, Top Secret is a movie in made by the creators of Airplane. If you like movies like Airplane or the Naked Gun, you will likely find this movie laugh out loud funny.
What's great about it: random humor
What's not so great: honestly, the plot is stupid

The NBC series' first season begins with the origin stories of several lonely, disconnected people who learn they're destined to become superheroes. At the center of the unfolding tale is Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia), a nurse haunted by cryptic dreams who believes he's meant to do great things with his life. Peter tries to convince his politico brother Nathan (Adrian Pasdar), who is running for the U.S. Senate, that something strange is happening to both of them, but Nathan is adamant about maintaining a low profile and keeping his personal life out of the press. Meanwhile, a Texas cheerleader (Hayden Panettiere) discovers she's completely indestructible, but she's in for an even bigger shock when she realizes her family is hiding a dark secret. Over in Los Angeles, a beat cop (Greg Grunberg) develops the ability to read minds, and an Internet stripper (Ali Larter) begins to manifest a murderous alternate personality. And in Tokyo, bored cubicle drone Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) is desperate for the kind of adventures found in comic books and Star Trek. (In a sly in-joke, Hiro's father shows up later in the season and is portrayed by Star Trek alum George Takei.) Hiro's wish is miraculously granted when he develops the ability to travel through time and space, teleporting himself instantly from a Tokyo subway to Times Square. But Hiro's elation quickly turns to fear when he witnesses a nuclear explosion lay waste to New York City. Upon teleporting home, he realizes he's just seen a glimpse of a catastrophe that will happen in a few weeks unless he can stop it. Heroes from across the globe gradually meet up and form alliances as they try to prevent the nuclear attack and fight back against a shadowy, superpowered serial killer known as Sylar (Zachary Quinto), who is able to murder the would-be superheroes and steal their abilities in the process.

Heroes is a serialized drama about people with extraordinary powers who must band together to stop a great evil. You will not be able to get enough of this show.
What's great about it: intriguing weaving story lines, interesting characters (for the most part)
What's not so great: some of the characters' stories are not terribly well fleshed out

The PS2 memory card has enough storage for at least 15 game saves on average. However, it would be much better if it had more space than 8MB on it.
