Computer Did Not Work

I got this computer for my son. Every time he went to watch a video, the hardware failed and it would not boot up. He had to reset the computer back to factory standards for it to work. He took it to Best Buy and the Geek Squad said it was not a hardware problem, it was a software problem. He finally paid for the Geek Squad service and they looked at it again and said oh yeah this is a hardware problem. The store then looked for something comparable since this computer was sold out. The closest ASUS was less RAM, but cost more because it had the upgraded graphics card. They wanted him to get that one, but they wanted him to pay an extra $100 for it. The next closest was an MSI, but it was 17 inches instead of the 15.6 and it had less gig dedicated to the graphics. We have never really heard of MSI so hoping it is a good brand. It also had a CD/DVD burner which we didn't really want either. We went with that one, but not totally happy we had to downgrade a little in our estimation for the same price (they took $40 off the price). We ended up with features we did not want and less RAM dedicated to the graphics. This was frustrating since he was using it for a gaming computer. It is also heavier with the bigger screen and CD drive.
