Installation (drive cloning) was incredibly simple

Bought this as a replacement for a dying OEM Seagate 400GB drive in a 4 year old desktop. (Vista began cranking out "imminent failure" messages for the old drive about every 20 minutes -- all mechanical tests were fine however it showed a high number of bad and/or unstable sectors. At least I had time to decide on my path forward and install a replacement drive before it gave up entirely.) The best surprise in installing this new drive was how easy it was to clone the old drive onto the new drive, using the Seagate supplied utility -- once the new drive was bolted in, the cloning and start up process was nearly automatic (took about an hour for physical installation [including an over-due cleaning inside] and then about 2.5 hours for the cloning, which included moving about 275GB of data). I've had it running for about a month now -- it's very quiet and so far performs very well. A side benefit is booting up Vista now takes less than half the time -- which I attribute to the problems cropping up on the old drive. Data loss from the old drive was never a concern as I diligently back up to two external drives -- having had to pay for data recovery for a drive that went bad years ago I have the need for good data backup practices indelibly etched in my brain (and wallet).
What's great about it: Installation (cloning of old drive)
What's not so great: Nothing so far
I would recommend this to a friend!
