Best Keyboard EVER

Just dont use the setpoint software unless you want another program slowing your computer down. It was plug and play of course for win vista/7. I have owned mine for over a year now and havent had a single issue, it is the perfect keyboard. I will never own a non-backlit keyboard again.
I previously owned a RAZOR backlit board which I returned within a week because it always looked so dirty and the buttons sucked. I also have a Logitech G9 keyboard I got for free, and do not use because the button action is not as nice.
A year in and its still sleek clean looking and working great.
What's great about it: It has laptop like buttons, light up nicely, very sleek design
What's not so great: Setpoint software it comes with.

Every brush, or change in grip on this will make loud popping/brushing noises. The dragonspeak software is only good for your voice, so dont expect to record a lecture and have it transcribed to notes for you. I havent been able to get anything I would call great sound quality from this, its really only meant for voice - if you use the mic in from even a $150 shure condenser mic it sounds much worse than plugging the mic into a computer and recording. I bought a pack of little rubber feet for mine so I could it down on a desk and it not rattle so bad when I adjust the position or move it on my notebook. Im guessing all the recorders will be the same for this sensitivity issue when holding, but why not get a $30 one and save the money, this one doesn't even have a rechargeable battery!
What's great about it: Lots of features
What's not so great: COnstant noise when holding in hand.

This game failed to include songs engraved into the public. its hard to find anyone who knows the melody enough to sing the songs. But my biggest complaint is the amount of European punk rock songs they added. They are the lamest type of music for this game, drums aren't fun when its just random hitting with no real beat or groove, and it seems that generally these euro-trash/punk rock songs have terrible drum parts, awful melody, terrible lyrics and a repetitive guitar part.
I do like that the drum parts have been kicked up a notch and they have added some new patterns. In RB 1, I could sight read most of the songs on expert and pass, this game I have seen plenty I cannot sight read.
Its great to be able to download songs I know people will recognize, I just wish the game CAME with good songs in the first place.
What's great about it: Download good songs
What's not so great: Half the songs aren't relevent to the united states culture.

Ok, someone commented about it mixing stations, I dont know if you can really blame that on this. That person lived in orange country cali, where the stations are close and in high numbers.
Anyway, this dynex one does the job but it doesnt sound as good as my old belkin, I will be returning it and forking out some more dough for a different one.

Poor screen quality, slow!
By Gibhunter from Tennessee
This thing is slow for any multi tasking in comparison to android tablets my friends have recently purchased. This device is outdated arleady - it costs more than the better new tablets out there, and has far far fewer features. I will be selling mine shortly online to get some honeycomb action.
EVERY website I am interested in still uses flash, and since flash has been moving towards GPU acceleration and been getting more efficient I dont see it dying out as fast as apple thinks. And no, I am not going to download the app for every website I goto that occasionally has a flash video embedded.
I cannot wait for windows 8 tablets in a few years. The future is promising for these devices, and as usual apple will be behind in features, while every other company pounces ahead, if apple didnt make the tablet popular someone else would have - and done it right.

yup we probably do because I am not stuck in the stone age of the internet. I stream music from multiple websites, stream video from break, youtube, engadget, gizmodo and go on digg a lot where flash is a must have. It turns out most websites do make a mp4 version of their videos, but you almost always need an app downloaded form the app store to access the dumbed down version of the site.

No good for biking
By Gibhunter from Maine
As far as downhill mountain biking goes, I have the camera mounted pointing as far up as possible due to the design of the mounting system. Without a screen on the gopro I had no idea how my video was turning out, and sure enough at home all my video footage from the chesty was pointing straight down to the ground.
It is impossible with both me and the person I was with and his chesty to get useful footage of the bike and trail ahead while going down a mountain. The only good footage was while i was sitting up - which only happened for a few seconds at a time while going slow.
This mount I am sure is great for other things, but come on, make it more adjustable!!!!

Woot?!?

The 2011 Subaru WRX does 0-60 in 4.7seconds. The STI is a tag slow due to gear ratios, but has a faster 0-100. In this game its aggrivating to see such a fast car go so slow.. like the game is in slow-motion. I counted a 0-60 of over 7 seconds, which makes everything feel so slow.. the car drags at 80+mph gaining unrealistically slow speed.

My non-turbo base engine impreza gains speed faster than it does in this game in the 60-100 section. I want to feel the speed, and for a game all about realism they screwed up the most important part.

Game Long Overdue
By Rick2000 from Central NY
Blizzard initially was to release Diablo 3 in 2006 but was placed on back burner to re-establish a better playing style while working and updating World of Warcraft their winning bread maker. (Honest I don't think Blizzard wanted to put time into D3 ). D3 process took MORE than 5 years just to get to the Beta stage. My expectations is this product won't be as good as WoW and previous Diablo 2 followers will not commit to D3 after Blizz failed to Support the Consumers with the Original series. Only Time will Tell if D3 will make or break.

December 30, 2011
While this is obviously a troll post.. there is some truth in blizzard taking too long to finish their products.. Starcraft 2 took so long I lost interest.. played the beta... got bored since it was the game game over again and never bought it.. All the while they pump out expansion after expansion for WoW which I could never get into. I dont know if Ill be able to get into D3 like I did with the previous 2 as its just been to long and it looks again, like the same game revised with better graphics - and took away what I liked most (customizing/focusing skills). If there is an open beta Ill try it, hopefully I will be addicted unlike SC2.

Do not waste your money
By Enojado from Vacaville, CA
It is an excellent movie. The media is wat is not worth a $3 bill. If you were wondering why a $55 disc is sold here for $30, wonder no more. It does not play in most players. After spending almost two hours finding a thumb drive, updating the BD firmware, it just wouldnt load. I am guessing that you have to pay up the wazoo for an expensive BD player that would play this. I have a Samsung BD-C5500 and this is the only BD I have had problems with. I tried it in my friends Pioneer Elite BDP-23FD and it played wonderfully. Never mind that the Pioneer costs $400 more than my Samsung. So if you have a new (less than a year) BD player and paid $400+ for it, go ahead and buy this piece of worthless...

Got It Quick....Everything's Perfect
By jimmy40 from Minnesota
Lots of room for air flow......this is the first pre-built or barebones desktop case I've had with bottom mounted PSU. Air vents in bottom front create a great flow of air from th efront to the back. Nice big clear window on the left-side panel. Air vent on the back, front, top and bottom are capable of holding 120mm case fans. I ordered this online on Monday evening, and the free 2 Day Air shipping got the case to my apt Thursday afternoon.
The manufacturer does not feature a PSU with this case, so the money you'd spend on it goes back into the case. Black painted exterior and interior.
Toolless on drive bays and both side panels.

There is nothing to ventilate on that side, very few cases have vents on the right side.

Pair them with a Sub
By TRiAC from Minneapolis, MN
LOCATION:
I installed a set of these in the factory locations of a 1999 Honda Accord sedan. The mids are in the doors near knee level and the tweeters are on the dash close to the windshield (swiveled to follow the slope of the windshield). Installation was quite simple; however, I have been installing for several years so I still recommend Geek Squad Autotechs.
UPGRADE – After winter, when it is warm enough, I plan to flush-mount the mids (modify the door panel and move the speakers forward so they are no longer behind the door panel). This should increase the mid-bass response and overall impact.
POWERING:
I am powering this component set straight off of the head-unit, a Pioneer AVH-P2300DVD (50Wx4@4ohm). Instead of just using 2 channels from the head-unit to power this component set (which Alpine boasts is possible with the low RMS handling), I am powering the tweeters with the front channels while the mids are powered by the rear channels. This is possible without a built-in high/mid/low crossover as the mids have a passive low-pass crossover built on the speaker itself (little coil wrapped in black plastic on the speaker by the +/- terminals – ensures you do not send frequencies too high to the mid) and the component set comes with passive high-pass crossovers for the tweeters (the crossovers you see in the product image – ensure you do not send frequencies too low to the tweeters). Separating the components in this fashion allows a slight power increase and better tweeter adjustment (use the fader to increase/decrease the tweeter level). I have not checked with an ohmmeter, but according to Alpine's technical support, the ohm load should still stay at 4ohms for the tweeter and the mid.
UPGRADE – I am satisfied with my current power level, but adding an amplifier would definitely be an improvement.
LISTENING:
My immediate reaction was that the mid-bass was lacking. There seems to be a drop in impact around 100hz, but then they played 40-50hz quite well (only for testing – on the head-unit, I set the HPF at 80hz). The tweeters are very crisp and reproduce sound very well. After proper tuning and adjustments, I am very happy with the overall sound from this component set. I listen to a wide range of music – rock, dubstep, country, rap, and even a little classical every now and then. The only music that seemed to stress this set up so far was rock. Crashing cymbals seem to distort the vocals; however, I have not tested many rock songs. Dubstep / Techno sounds amazing.
RECOMMENDATION:
Pair this component set with a subwoofer. I have an Alpine Type-R 12 (SWR-1243D) powered by an Alpine MRP-M500 amplifier combined with my Alpine SPR-60C components and the result is amazing. This subwoofer blends amazingly with these components – I have it set to cover 80hz and lower. This setup is affordable and light on the vehicle's electrical system (cheap amp, but it is 80% efficient – can't go wrong for the money)
Also – check these out on Alpine's website for more info and a demo video: http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/spr-60c

Best radar detector on the market! =)
By RANGE from Las Vegas
Let me start of by saying that I love this radar detector, and the VR1 is a very distant second. The futures and the GPS make this radar detector leaps and bounds ahead of the rest.
Let me also explain why I didnt give it a flawless 5.0 which it deserves. So you drop 540.00 roughly after tax on this thing (and trust me it's worth every penny# and you open the box to find out that they don't even give you a smart cord to connect it to the computer #e.g. any cord that charges a Droid# which you need to fully utilize all of its potential #i.e. red light camera updates, speed trap updates, false alarm upates, etc.#. They also have a subcription fee to keep you updated after your trial period, which I expected but was maybe hoping for a longer trail period since you did just drop 500 on this thing. Because once you buy it they know they have you so you really have no choice to but to buy it to keep it current.
Now let me give all the praise that it deserves. The GPS with the "auto learn" feature alone makes this thing worth the 500+ dollars you drop on it. False alarms suck and they really do elimanate it. Wether it is you, yourself hitting the store button at a false single #which it will never beep from that false alarm again since it is stored becuase it has a GPS inside the radar detector) or the "auto learn" which does the same thing but, by itself when passed by one #i.e. any large store, casinos, some banks) The reasoning for these false alarms are big stores with there motion sensors for the doors or the alarm systems.
So after it is stored it will never beep from that false single again! = AWESOME! =)
They also have a "escort live" cord that can be plugged into your car then you plug your Droid or Iphone into to see what speed traps are around you# Very cool#
Also just the bottom line of almost never having to listen to a bunch of false beeps and havign to weed them yourself# When this thing beeps you pay attention, because its always dead on# =)
Overall: Best radar detector out there just sad they dont hook you up with a little bit longer of a trial period and a cord# C'mon man!! =)

Broke on first use
By Gibhunter from Maine
I took this to Sunday River with hopes of mounting it to the seatpost for a behind my bike shot of the person in back of me. I had it mounted and tightened with a screw drive since this mount will move no matter how hard you hand tighten it with only a little force.
When mounting it, it felt cheap and I thought it might break at the base since the half circle grips are really really thin and flex a LOT when tightening.
Anyway, I got down the mountain using Level 2/5 (easy - step up from a gravel trail down the mountain) trails. At the bottom I noticed it was gone.. see pictures below for the break off point. My camera made no sound or feel when it popped off.
Anyway, after 2 trips walking down the mountain and wasting an hour I gave up. Lucky for me though the guy I was with spotted it on the chairlift up reflecting back at us.
The camera corrupted the last 20 seconds of the video so I lost the part where it fell off unfortunately, but in putting the camera back up against the broken mount I know with 100% certainty that my back wheel did not hit the camera - it is impossible at the height it was mounted.
GoPro NEEDS to make $30 mounts out of metal, the place this mount snapped off has no effect from how tight it is mounted which wasnt overly tight IMO or loose, it was at the start of a plastic arm!
I almost lost a $300 camera because GoPro cheaped out on ALL of their mounts. A $30 mount shouldnt be made of thin flimsy plastic.

You are right, it is an extension - the one it came with..
Also, I did get it replaced at best buy however, I broke another at that connection between the rollbar mount and the initial extension mount - so that time it was the mount that was bad. I was able to use the replacement several times biking in the same way (with a cord attaching the camera to my bike in case) before this happened.. I still wouldn't reccomend this mount for any use with high amount of shaking with the older gopro. The newer one is a lot lighter it might not have any issues.
THey still should be a stronger material that doesnt flex so much.

What camera to buy?

I'm looking for a more portable digital camera which has: at least a 6x zoom; view finder; quick shutter speed (like instant); and requires common batteries (like AA or AAA). Brand does not matter, but the camera has to be pretty stout as I'll be using it outside.
Check out the 2 cameras attached, these are point and shoot sized cameras, but the internals are nearly equivalent to one of those big DSLR cameras for fast picture taking and adjustment. The lenses are interchangeable on these as well. As far as battery goes, most cameras now in the 300+ range will use their own special sized battery, however they will also get 400-600 photos off a charge or about 1.2 hours of HD video recording with continuous auto focus.

can you put a memory card in a waterproof camera?

for olympus stylus 8010 can you add or change the memory card?
Yes, it has the usual doors for battery and SD card removal as other cameras, the doors are just rubberized to prevent water from working its way in. Waterproof cameras generally warn the user all over to make sure there is no sand/hair/dust on the rubber that might break the seal.

Take a look also at the Panasonic DMC-TS1 DMC-TS2 or the upcoming DMC-TS10 too, it is olympus's main competitor.

What is the best laptop for me?

I plan on getting a new laptop before the end of next year. With very little computer know-how, I don't know what to buy. My laptop is my life, and I use it for everyday tasks. It has replaced my regular hard drive using PC. I'll be taking it with me to college. I need something for:

- Pictures
- Music
- Gaming
- Programs
- Fast
- Lightweight and preferred big screen

I'm going to be designing video games, programs, and writing a lot. I have a tons of pics and music and some useless programs, and video game emulators.
Honestly it sounds dumb, but a macbook pro with windows 7 would meet your needs best in my opinion. The problem is finding a PC that is "lightweight" for gaming. The macbook pro's have decent GPUs for gaming and game design. Otherwise toshiba/gateway usually offer one or two gaming computers in each of their lineups but they are very thick and very heavy with low battery life.

Don't know what I need

Want to create my own website. browse web, email, etc. nothing fancy,no game playing.
For what you list you could get away with any laptop or desktop offered at Best Buy, however your experience will be much better if you make sure to choose a laptop with a dual core processor. They usually start at $470. Single core processors are just slower to run the applications you list above and honestly most single core processors can barely play youtube videos today, and some of the low end dual core computers can play youtube fine even in 720p but cannot handle 1080p video through youtube.

If its in the budget pick a laptop with an Intel i5 processor, they run 700-900 but are far superior in performance of everyday tasks. Go for an Intel i7 if you have a lot of money to spend.

how many gigabits?

so im planning on buying a laptop for the first time soon and i have no clue how many gb i should get.. i'll mostly use it for music, chatting, e-mailing, storing pictures and a lot of surfing the web etc. but not much more than that and im not exactly sure how much each gigabit will hold. Help please?!?
Hi, first off to clarify, gigabits are for measuring speed while gigabytes are for storage.

There are 2 types of memory you might be referring to, memory and hard drive.

Memory for what you describe I would recommend 3-4 gigabytes. The computer manages your memory and will use more if you have more so I cant say how much a gigabyte will hold.

Hard drive, you could get away with 160GB but I would recommend at least 250 Gigabytes if you store photos and music <--- so you have room to grow your collections. A gigabyte is 1024 megabytes and a typical music song is ~4 megabytes while a typical photo ranges from 2-6 Megabytes depending on your camera. So each gigabyte can hold either ~250 songs or photos. And expect a computer to use upto 20GB for a recovery partition, 12GB for windows 7 and ~10GB will just disappear because of how drives are formatted for windows.

WiFI..

so im getting a laptop and i despretly want Wifi for the surfing webs and stuff like that and i heard a wireless router will give me Wifi to my laptop but does it matter that at my house i have slow AOL dialup?.. do you need like roadrunner or sumin to recieve internet conection to your laptop?
You cannot get wireless to work on dialup internet like AOL. You will have to get something like Time Warner's Road Runner, FAirpoint DSL, HugesNet, or a wireless broadband card which works through cell phone towers.

All laptops for sale at best buy have wireless built in so you just need a wireless router at your house and one of the high speed internet providers listed above.

How do i get my laptops product key?

I bought my laptop at Best Buy like 2 months ago. I need to use Microsft Excel and the computer is asking me for the product key to register it. Under my laptop there is a microsoft product key number with the same number of digits that the computer is asking me. However my computer does not accept it. Is there any other way i can get the product key for my computer?
That key on the bottom is the microsoft windows 7 key. There is no microsoft office key because computers only come with a trial for that program. You will need to purchase microsoft office 2007 OR switch to using microsoft works which should be included as a full version OR try "open office" a free alternative available online OR download the office 2010 beta which is good until some time in the fall this year.

Battery won't stay connected

I have had my Gateway laptop since January and now the battery will not connect to the computer when it is on. The battery icon always says the battery is at 0% battery life, when it has been charging all night. The only way I can connect the battery back is by popping it out and then back in. This happens usually when the computer gets shut down, put on standby, or moved at all. Any suggestions to fixing this problem?
You have a couple options here. This sounds like a hardware issue but it also sounds like one covered under the manuf. warranty and also Best Buy Black Tie Protections if you have added that. You can since it is less than 1 year old contact gateway through the chat on their website and see how long the repair would take them (It will need to be sent out for service either way) or take it into your local Geek Squad and they can send it out for you. Geek Squads turn around time will be around 2-3 weeks so if gateway says they can do it in 1 week, I would take them up on that. They will mail you a box to ship it back to them in.

What's a good computer choice for someone entering high school?

The saying "you get what you pay for" goes strongly with computers. You may see a few offerings on laptops in the $350-$400 range, and they often wont cut it for a pleasant experience. For around $480-$550 you should be able to find a laptop well suited for high school. Take a look through the weekly ads as they come and in particular look for computers with a dual core processor - in particular I would recommend an Intel i3 for basic use or the Intel i5 if you have $600-700 to spend. The i5 is a processor with enough power to handle future applications which looks to be soon based on youtube and other websites moving to high definition content. The sub $400 laptops usually have single core processors and really struggle to do the simple tasks such as browsing the internet while working on a document or playing music while doing homework.

GPS that works in Honduras, CA

I'm traveling to Honduras ,CA and need to get a GPS unit that will work down there. Any sugestions?

Joe.
Any GPS will be able to connect to a GPS satellite in central america, but none of the GPSs sold in America have the maps preloaded by default. Most only come with United States and Canada - the answer is yes any will work, BUT you need to get a map update for central america. This does not from my searching look to be a product Best Buy sells currently, but a quick search on google bought me to some sites selling SD cards loaded with the maps ready to pop into your new GPS and use.
