This company is onto something

As a coffee aficionado, I've owned 2 super automatic machines in the past dozen years - one for $600, the other $750. While these look very impressive on your counter, and offer an array of features, one has to ask oneself "am i really using all these options?" I just want a good cup of coffee that's not weak; not burnt.
Get a Keurig you say? I don't quite understand how these machines have endeared themselves to the public. Pay $10 for what amounts to a few ounces of coffee for the sake of convenience? Not me? And if you're the least bit environmentally conscious, what about the waste of all the packaging?
I think the Ninja people have recognized a market niche and have gone in headfirst. This machine, the CF021 is on the lower end of their product line, but still has some very nice features. It has the timer for those into that (as a usual 1 cupper, i prefer to wait for the brew as opposed to those mornings i want to sleep in a little longer only to have a lukewarm cup waiting for me.)
You get the choice of size - one cup, half carafe, full carafe. You get the choice of brew - classic (mild), or rich (bold) . And I love the inclusion of the over ice setting - no more weak iced coffee at home.
So what am i giving up over my expensive super automatic machine? Suppose i want a latte? Well, I could go for a higher end Ninja with a built in frother, but really, I have one of those battery powered frothers you can buy for $10 or $15, and they do a fine job. Also much neater than playing with the steam coming out of a full service machine.
I will say being a diehard, i do miss the grinding function of a fully automatic, but after i thought about it, as long as you buy ground coffee fresh, it'll taste great. I had just gotten in the habit of ordering 5 lbs of beans at a time, and storing them in the freezer. Now i have more freezer space!
The one time i really don't miss the super automatic is when we have a family gathering. At dessert time, I felt like a Starbucks barista grinding out single cups on order while everyone enjoyed their pies & cakes. I was never impressed with carafe style coffee makers, but this one does very well.
I did some research on the Ninja, and came across a technical review of how it extracts the various brews. These guys used refractometers to measure total dissolved solids, extraction percentage, etc. Serious coffee guys!
For the bottom end of the Ninja lineup, this machine produces a good cup of coffee at a good price. I think i'll be taking a look at some of their higher end machines; right now i have my eye on one that does specialty brews (read espresso.) Then i'll be able to pass down this one to a needy relative that's going broke buying k-cups!

Full featured unit for small to medium rooms
on June 4, 2017

I was quite impressed with the sound from this piece. Especially bearing in mind that being "slim", it's meant for tv's on a stand with low profiles, or those with space concerns for soundbar placement. It might be lost in a larger room, say over 400 sq. ft, but the power & spacious quality of the sound can make a bedroom or small den start to approach the quality of a home theater setup.
For it's size, it's surprisingly hefty. The Sony build quality is evident both in its finish and weight. Given the quality of the speakers in today's tv's, I've been through a bunch of soundbars, and the only one I have still in service is a 10 year old Sony that I use on a tv with only rca outputs. You pay a premium for Sony, but they have lasting power.
There are many reviews here that delve into sound specifics, but I'd like to focus on a couple of other things.
The first is, if you're buying a new tv, make sure it has ARC (audio return channel), as this soundbar does. With the newer high speed HDMI cables, this simplifies setup, allows the best quality sound, and most importantly, gets rid of the highly annoying lip sync issue that plagues so much of the audio equipment sold today.
The other thing is... well, let me tell you a short story first. I recently purchased a bluetooth transmitter to hook up to my vintage stereo system so I could listen to my vinyl records with bluetooth headphones. I hooked it up, and it worked great. Listened to the new 50th anniversary Sgt. Pepper's, when I finished, I noticed I had a text. It was from my neighbor (this is a private home, neighbor 50 feet and 3 walls away). The text said "Hey, if you're gonna take over my soundbar, at least play something good!" (He hates the Beatles!)
Point is, I hijacked his soundbar without trying. Later, speaking to him, he described his soundbar as "dumb" - technical term I guess.
To some, this might be an annoyance, to others, unnerving - Big Brother style.
To avoid this, the Sony has "Secure Link" to lock the soundbar to the subwoofer to avoid this kind of intrusion. This is something I was unaware of, but now am. How would you like to finish up a movie in bed one night, only to be awoken by your phone's alarm ring blaring through your soundbar. Then again, maybe some of us need that - lol.
Overall, I'm very happy with this unit, as I said, if you have a newer tv with ARC built in, this would be a good choice.

Excellent choice for most

I"ve spent a few days putting this headset through its paces, and have reached my own conclusions; however, before writing I wanted to read some of the other reviews to see if others are in the same vein as me.
As another reviewer stated, headphones are a highly subjective area - what's good for me might not appeal to you. You buy them for a myriad of purposes, and what works well for one application is not so good for another. I would place these in the "relaxing home in your lounger listening to your home theater or stereo" category.
The unboxing of this set is an experience - the box within a box opening into a jewelry style display on soft cloth is impressive. While it doesn't come with a carry case, the leatherette style storage bag is nicely done.
The unit itself is nice to the touch with glove soft leather for the earpieces and headband; and feels well constructed in spite of the use of plastic enclosures as opposed to using an aluminum or other metal body.
Very comfortable and adjustable, they cover the ear plushly and the headband is soft to the head. While not noise cancelling, the excellent fit knocks out a lot of ambient noise.
I'm not one to delve into the specs, there are plenty of resources out there if you want them - the point is... how do they work?
My first goal was to check them for latency - I recently had a chance to try out a new Bose Soundsport Revolve portable speaker. First thing I did was to pull up a youtube music video on my phone. I was very disappointed to see quite a delay causing a bad case of lip sync. So I figured that was a good place to start. My phone is a 6 month old Google Pixel, so pretty recent technology. I was happy to see the Audio Technica passed the first test - no discernible lip sync - yea! That means I can use these not only for music, but can enjoy them with my tv & home theater.
Now on to why I really wanted a quality set of headphones - my extensive vinyl record collection which I wanted to enjoy in peace without disturbing the rest of the family - including the dogs! My equipment is vintage McIntosh - so no built in bluetooth. I picked up a TaoTronics bluetooth transmitter, plugged into the Mac's outputs, and voila - instant bluetooth.
I was pleased with the result - crisp, clean sound, no interruptions, overall excellent quality. A little bit of acceptable tape hiss during quiet passages. If you don't know, there are various levels & codecs to bluetooth transmission, the led's on the AT's are able to tell you which codec you are currently connected with, which is a nice feature. The better your transmission is, the better the quality of sound you will receive.
One issue that kept coming up in other reviews is a low bass level. I tend to agree with the other reviewers in that I would have liked to see a bit more bass response. It's good, but definitely not in your face. If you're listening at home, you can use your tone controls/equalizer to compensate, but if you're looking for boom box or high power car stereo type of bass, maybe this is not for you.
The other issue that caused me to downgrade from a 5 star review is the volume control & tap feature. It just didn't seem intuitive to me, I seemed to fumble every time i reached for it. That and the fact that the volume switch appeared a little cheap for an otherwise well done piece.
Another concern for the long term is the lack of a replaceable battery. I'd like to know that after a couple of years of use I could pop in a new battery, but this seems to be an industry wide issue rather than a product specific one - your phone's battery goes dead, throw it out, or go for a big repair bill. It's the sign of the times - everything's disposable.

Easily the best short of a hair salon

The Nanoe is a quality piece of work. Feels solid, weighty, and well built to the hand. If you're used to cheap, light, throwaway driers, might take a bit to get used to, but once you get the balance of handling it, you'll love it.
First impression on unboxing it - wow - nice long 9 foot cord - a rarity today since manufacturers seem intent on making their product with the shortest cord possible - great feature.
The air flow is strong & consistent, and the 3 heat settings are nicely progressive. The cool shot is a nice feature as when you feel you're getting a little too hot, instead of having to switch the heat off, just hit the cool shot - nicely thought out.
The fact that it's certainly quieter than most is the final thumbs up. Overall, the nicest drier I've seen outside of a hair salon.

A good choice with qualifications

This should be rated as excellent, but the product needs some help. As far as being a functional trimmer, it does a great job. Feels nice & solid to the hand, nice smooth adjustment, doesn't pinch as some cheaper ones do, and cleans easily.
Why isn't it excellent? The whole charging thing is a mess. The charger takes up too much space, and the charger has no cord, so the trimmer needs to be plugged into the base. For most people, bathroom outlets are at a premium, we don't need a product that demands space.
How many times have you reached for a trimmer and found it's dead? Get the cord & plug it in, right? Can't do that here - no cord. The fact that it has Nicad batteries is no help either - at this price, you should be getting lithium batts for a longer run life.
I've spent my life buying $15-$25 trimmers, if I'm spending double the price, I expect a little more. So, good device, poor execution.

Not the best for the price

Let me preface this by saying I've had the Netgear Orbi up & running in the house for 6 months now.
This is a two story home, 20'x50', with the entry point at the far point of the lower level, so getting good signal to the opposite end has always been an issue.
After unboxing, I did experience some of the issues reported in other reviews - very quirky in initial setup, meaning failed attempts in connecting & placement, going back & forth between the mobile & laptop interface. Finally got it set up, but it was anything but an intuitive process.
Once up & running, I have no issue with the coverage or speed. Streaming Amazon & Netflix simultaneously on multiple devices with no buffering.
I'm not interested in advanced settings such as static ip's for each device, I just want to plug something in and forget about it. No such luck. I don't want to hear the wife & daughter yelling "there's no internet!" while I'm watching the game or my favorite show. And that's what I got - 2 system reboots in the course of a week. Fail! The unit went back in the box, and the Netgear Orbi which had worked flawlessly without me having to think about it, went back in service.
Bottom line, good hardware, bad software, and not worth the price.

Solid charger
on April 6, 2017
Posted by: ferrari
Not much you can say about a charger, (well, really a cradle) although this one is somewhat unique. The Revolve+ unit nestles nicely into it, and it charges quickly.
The reason for only 4 stars? You need to use the cable that comes in the Revolve package. One would think that at this price point, they could put in a cable to make it complete package. Especially since this is for a mobile speaker, would be nice to leave one at home lest it gets left behind in your travels.

Deep. Loud. And immersive, too. SoundLink Revolve+, the best-performing portable Bluetooth speaker from Bose, delivers true 360° sound for consistent, uniform coverage. Place it in the center of the room to give everyone the same experience. Or set it near a wall so sound radiates and reflects. This wireless speaker is durable, water-resistant and easy to grab and go - with a rechargeable battery that plays up to 16 hours.

Solid choice for Bose fans
on April 6, 2017
Posted by: ferrari
If you've previously purchased Bose products, there are no surprises here. The Revolve+ is a well designed and solid product. If you've previously listened to Bose speakers, the audio will be no surprise either. It's instantly recognizable with that deep rich sound associated with Bose. I can't think of another speaker that is so easily identifiable with one's eyes closed. In that regard, the Revolve+ does not disappoint. The design, shape, voice prompts, and the fact that it has 360 degree sound will lend comparisons to the Amazon Echo; but make no mistake - the Revolve has far superior sound, especially when you pump up the volume - it's quite a bit more room filling.
The setup was very simple, aided by voice prompts, although I would appreciate some text with the accompanying skimpy manual that uses pictograms. I downloaded the compatible Bose Connect Ap, and was in short order listening to my playlist.
The one thing that kept me from a 5 star rating was Bluetooth latency. While this is not a problem if you're using this only as a music player, but I had visions that it might serve as a speaker upgrade for my Bluetooth tv. I connected to my Samsung tv, and the lip sync delay immediately crashed that idea.
I thought that this might be a Bluetooth compatibility issue, so I went to my laptop, made the connection, and went to Youtube. Same result - the video doesn't line up with the audio. Made a third test with my Google Pixel phone playing video clips, and still encountered the delay.
I realize this is a common Bluetooth issue, so I don't blame the Revolve so much as the technology.
However, if you're looking for a solidly built portable music device, not interested in syncing video, and appreciate that distinctive Bose sound, the Revolve is an excellent choice.

The name says it all
on March 18, 2017
Posted by: ferrari
My qualifications - owner of 2 Golden Retrievers and a 2 story home with wall to wall carpet throughout - need I say more? I've gone through more vacuums than I can count - including 2 expensive Mieles. I've come to regard vacuums as a throwaway necessary evil. I most recently had a Shark Rotator, as I had given up on spending $500+ for what is basically a disposable item. But this one might change my assessment.
What's your least favorite activity as a pet owner? If not #1, detangling brush rollers has got to be in the top 3. I'm totally impressed at how clean the brush head stays. I didn't own the Animal 1, but this one supposedly has an improved brush head. Between that and the amount of suction, the hair doesn't get a chance to get stuck.
The first time I used this, I had just cleaned with the Shark the day before. I was completely amazed at how quickly the Animal filled up with what was left behind.
There are downsides to the pulling power of this vacuum though - the tremendous suction makes it somewhat more difficult to navigate than a standard vacuum, especially depending upon what type of flooring you're on. Not so much an issue on hardwoods or short nap rugs, but on a deep shag it requires some effort. If your carpets are loose or you have throw rugs - forget about it - it'll try to eat them! But this speaks more to the awesome power. If you looking for raw power, this has it in spades.
Having over the years being used to canisters with automatic cords & built in tool storage, it's a minor annoyance dealing with winding up a cord, and having to reach for a crevice tool (this unit can only carry one tool at a time, so if you're someone that tends to lose your tools, this is a minus.
The ergonomics are a bit funky too. I'm not intuitively going back & forth from an upright lock to release position, and vice-versa - although I presume I just haven't gotten used to it yet. It does feel quite solid & well built.
One thing that put me off about the Shark was the Febreze filter - I totally dislike "scents", and I always had an annoying tickle in my nose after a cleaning session. The Dyson's Hepa filter does a great job - it just smells "clean" without introducing anything added.
The other major "feel good" item about this vacuum is the name. As I've said before, I've come to recognize vacuums as disposables. I don't feel like that about this one. It's a quality name, it feels solid, and I know if something goes wrong, they're not going to be gone tomorrow. And that's how you should feel when you're spending in the neighborhood of $500.
Bottom line, you have to decide whether this is for you. If you're not a shedding pet owner, have a lot of loose rugs, or have a problem using a bit of effort to push the machine around, maybe this is not for you.
But if you want a quality name, a unit that can suck a golf ball through a garden hose, and willing to spend the $$$, the Animal 2 deserves a strong look.

A good choice with qualifications

Wireless earbuds - I don't believe there is a single product on the market that receives universal acclaim. The buds don't fit or drop out, the sound or bass is not good enough, the battery doesn't last, etc.
I would say this is a better than average product in the current marketplace. I found the sound quality and connection to be excellent overall. I've seen reviews that mention the bass is lacking, but i believe much of that is predicated on the type of music you enjoy. If you're used to 100 watt subwoofers in your home or car, well yeah, it's not enough bass! But i found the sound to have be pleasing and have an overall correct balance.
I thought the build quality was overall excellent, while not bulky, the wiring gave a solid impression as compared to those thin wires that constantly deteriorate on Apple products. Seems like they'll hold up over time.
I won't waste much time talking about ear fit - this is the biggest bone of contention when talking about buds and where you get the most disagreement. While I'm not an avid jogger, I found the twist lock feature to work better than most - I didn't have a problem with it.
But - here's why I didn't go to 5 stars with it - I'm spoiled! Having a set of the Bose sound cancelling buds, there's simply no comparison. Yes, they're $100 more, but once you're going over $100 for a set of earbuds, you're probably looking for top quality.
I would say if you catch these on a sale, it's a solid choice.

Can you listen to music or not? One answer says only the sounds from the app and another answer says yes you can listen to music. I want to listen to music from Youtube? Can I do this?

No - there is no input from anything other than the Bose App it comes with. Maybe on a future update, for now all you get is the built in soundscapes.

Nothing puts a vacuum to the test quite like a home with pets. That's why the BISSELL® Pet Hair Eraser® was developed from the ground up by pet parents for pet parents. Whether it's shedding season for your dog or your cat tracks kitty litter all over the house, this revolutionary vacuum is designed to make cleaning up after pets and the people who love them a breeze—from beginning to end. Say goodbye to hair wrap with its Tangle-Free Brush Roll, remove embedded hair everywhere with specialized pet tools, help capture allergens and eliminate odors with the SmartSeal™ Allergen System, and when you're finished cleaning, enjoy a hands-free tank empty with our patented Cyclonic Spooling System™.BR>

How load is it? I've used an Oreck XL upright and a Eureka Mighty Mite and would hope it's no louder as those. I prefer bagged vacuums but want to try the BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser because of its claims of not getting hair tangled on the roller.

I don't own the units you mentioned, I have a Miele canister, and it's no louder than that. I was surprised at it, as it does have great suction, and would have thought it should've been louder for the power it has. So far happy with the unit.
