Does exactly what it says it will

We've been a multi-dog family for over 25 years. And we've been a canister vac family for the same amount of time. That is - till last year when we got our first Bissell Pet Hair Eraser.
We've always owned brand name vacs - our last two canister purchases were Miele, one of them even the Pet model. And now, I shudder to think how much we spent on buying and maintaining them. After a vacuuming session, we'd be there with scissors & razor blades cutting the hair off the brushes.
I can't believe how easy the Eraser has made our lives. We've had the first one for a year, and we've had to tend to the brushes maybe twice. It's worked perfectly in that time, more than I can say about the Miele. I got the 2nd so we wouldn't have to lug the machine up & down the stairs.
Things to like - extra long 30' cord - plug it in a hallway & you can do multiple rooms. (not retractable though - need to wrap it around hooks on the handle)
The lighted crevice tool, and hand held pet Turbo eraser give the machine versatility. (although they could have designed the unit to hold all the attachments)
The dust bin works great - easy to attach/detach and empties easily.
The swivel function of the beater & low height design allow for good reach under couches/tables. Handles very well.
As I said, I've had one of these for over a year, and went for a 2nd. I guess that says something about it. No more canisters for us. All in all, best vac we've owned. Bissell knows something about pet hair!

An excellent all-in-one solution
on October 12, 2018

The Ninja is an impressive piece. And big. And heavy - but, then again, so is my hand me down 30 year old pressure cooker that's been sitting in the closet. If you have cabinets extending out over all your countertops, better check dimensions, because this might not be for you. Luckily, I have an island with an outlet so it has plenty of space.
That's the worst of it. Beyond that, I have nothing but praise for it. Haven't gone near the stove or toaster oven in the week I've had it.
The front panel is clean, legible, and intuitive. Since it is a pressure device, I did read through the manual to make sure I was using the controls correctly. It's a nice feature that you don't need to babysit it - the digital display has circling lights that indicate pressure buildup, and then automatically goes into cook mode with a countdown.
First night - beef stew w/ potatoes & veggies in an hour. Second night risotto & steamed broccoli. We tried the air fryer on the third night with a generous serving of frozen french fries. I was genuinely impressed with the outcome. Thought I'd miss the fry oil, but the fries were crispy on the outside, tender & flavorful on the inside.
Prior to receiving this, I had seen the infomercial they were running on local tv. As with all infomercials, I was extremely skeptical as to the possibility of me producing similar results. I had to try a couple of the things they did - one was cooking dry pasta in the sauce. Using a quality sauce, the results were terrific - it wasn't just pasta with sauce, it was pasta infused with sauce. Then we tried the mac & cheese finished off by air crisping the top - great!
In very short time, the Ninja has become a kitchen essential - making great meals in record time. Highly recommended.

Prepare a variety of meals faster with this nonstick Ninja cooker. It operates as much as 70 percent faster than traditional methods, and the digital control panel lets you select the function your recipe needs. This 1000W Ninja cooker holds up to 6 quarts and includes a stainless steel rack for steaming.

Goodbye crock pot!
on October 12, 2018
Posted by: ferrari
from New Jersey, USA
We've had an assortment of crock pots over the years, and love the hearty stews & slow cooked ribs, especially on a cold winter night. What we didn't like was leaving a 1000 watt heating device plugged in all day & having to think about it when running out to the store, etc.
The Ninja solved this problem beautifully. After a quick review of the directions, we first gave it a test of the pressure function. Added 3 cups water, secured the lid, hit the pressure button, set a 2 minute timer, and let it go. While in heating mode, the display shows a circling pattern, when it hits steam, the countdown function starts. Worked nicely, and shut down on target. We were at first leery about the pressure release on the lid, the way it loosely lays might give an impression that it's broken, but it performed as it should. If I had a suggestion, I would say to redesign it so it gives a positive click.
First meal we tried was a beef stew with potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, in a tomato sauce base. Put a little oil in the pot and proceeded to sear the meat along with the onions. The Ninja heated up quickly and seared nicely. Added the rest of the ingredients and closed it up to begin pressure cooking. We went with the recommended 45 minute pressure time. I wasn't clocking it, but I estimate took about 10 minutes to come up to pressure.
The result - a wonderfully savory stew in less than an hour. We had used baby Yukon Gold potatoes, and they were fork tender, as were the carrots.
While I'm not going to say the old crock pot wouldn't have produced the same result, the Ninja put it out in 1/10 the time. The only thing missing was the anticipation from aromas wafting around the house all day, but I'll take the instant gratification instead!
Great product, can't wait to try it for a variety of items.

Another top of the line piece from Logitech
on September 26, 2018

After working with a stock out of the box Dell mouse for the past 2 months; spending the last week with the G Pro was like parking my Geo Metro and being handed the keys to a new Ferrari. Mind you, this is about the weight of any no name $5 or $10 mouse you'd pick up at the big box store, but that's where the comparison ends.
After unboxing & downloading the software, DPI setup was my first mission, as the default setting didn't allow as much of a throw as I'd like. A little confusing at first getting it right, but once i got it to my liking, I was amazed at the range of settings. At the low end, it's practically pixel by pixel (which I suppose would lend itself best at photo editing type tasks), at the high end, it feels like you could throw the cursor across a 20 ft wide screen. Once set up to your particular needs, all of this is available at the touch of a button on the fly.
As for the touch, the tactile feel of the clicks is superb - light enough to avoid repetitive strain from repeated rapid presses, yet solid enough response feedback. As for the scroll wheel, I would have preferred a rolling wheel as opposed to a notched one, but this is likely due being so used to enabling a glide setting on trackballs & laptop touchpads.
So far, the wireless has been flawless, not skipping a beat. Would never know you're not connected. I've tried using the Pro on a few different surfaces including soft & hard pads, as well as my plexiglass desktop, which i prefer. But that does bring up my one knock against the Pro - Logitech, in this price range, would it have been that hard to throw in a weight or two? On a really smooth glass type surface, I'd like the option to have a little more heft. From what I've read, the G703 weight would fit right in there, and the magnetic cover on the receiver plate makes it easy.
While I did want to take off a point for not including weights, I've really enjoyed swapping over the the G Pro over the past week. It's that, plus the fact that given my experience with Logitech, it should give me long & reliable service. I've handed down two older computers to parents & relatives, both of them with original Trackman Marble trackballs. Logitech introduced them in 1995, and they're both clicking like new two decades later.

Good upgrade for a tired PC
on September 12, 2018
Posted by: ferrari
from New Jersey, USA
There's a good chance if you're looking at this product, you have some knowledge about drive cloning and installation. I'll repeat what some of the previous reviewers have said, namely that there is absolutely nothing in this package but a bare drive. If your thought is to use this to replace your boot drive, you'll need to go to WD.com and download the Acronis True Image software.
Other reviewers have stated that this is not the fastest drive on the market, nor does it have the best warranty, so if you're looking for the top of the curve, this is not for you.
How I look at it is, this will be a substantial improvement over a mechanical drive, and if you're not a power user, this is something that is seat of the pants noticeable.
For an example, I used this to clone a drive on a 5 year old PC. As Windows PC's do over time, it was getting over 2 minute boot time. I also had concerns that the original drive was nearing end of life, so I could revitalize an older pc; have a backup copy of my existing files, and not have to go through the trials & tribulations of transferring files & setting up a new PC. Some people think this is fun, I don't!
The transfer went well, and the boot time dropped to well under a minute. My most used applications became noticeably faster - Thunderbird with thousands of emails in various folders; Firefox that I like to open with half a dozen tabs containing my daily most visited sites; functions like sorting files in Explorer are near instantaneous.
So for someone bent on having a high end gaming or photo editing machine, maybe spend a few bucks more on a higher spec'd drive. But if you're doing something similar to what I did, upgrading an old horse, catch this on a sale and you have a good deal.
Finally, knocks to WD for not providing anything in box but a bare drive. Maybe I'm too old & remember the days when drives came with software & cables. Oh yeah, there is some tiny pamphlet in there, but the print is so microscopic that I literally needed a magnifying glass to read it. Luckily, I had enough knowledge to figure the software would be on the WD site.
These SSD drives have been coming down fast in price, keep your eye out for a sale!

A very solid choice
on September 12, 2018

I've been using backup power supplies for both my computer systems and audio/video components for over 20 years now. As we're in an area that gets more than a few momentary power blips, it's an essential for us. The power will blink for a second, and the cable box goes into reset mode for 3-5 minutes - very annoying. Same thing working on a computer - have to restart, most likely losing or corrupting whatever I'm working on at the moment the power died.
Here's the difference with this unit - in the past, when the batteries had gone through their life cycle, the cost of replacement batteries was just about what I'd pay for a new UPS, so it just wasn't worth it. But this is such a solid unit, I'm pretty sure I'll be keeping it around for awhile.
The unit packs plenty of power, more than enough to keep an LED tv, cable or Roku box, and a soundbar running. The display is big, bright, bold, and has all the pertinent info you need. The front USB ports are an excellent upgrade to units I've had in the past. I was happy to see one of them was a C port; I didn't check the amperage for the ports, but I was surprised to see how quickly it charged my phone.
You might think I'm crazy, but there is one feature that endears this to my heart - a silence button right on the front that works! Hold it for 2 seconds, and the speaker icon comes up on the display with a line through it indicating sound disabled. My dog hates beeps - from the smoke alarm, microwave, toaster oven, whatever. She'll whine for an hour after hearing a random beep. My previous UPS beeped continually while on backup power. We've had 2 power outages since I installed this unit, and it's been totally quiet.
The only caveat I would issue is that this is a heavy piece (22+ lbs) so it's not for a flimsy computer desk, tv stand, or shelf. But if you're basing it on the floor, or have sturdy shelving, it's a very nicely designed unit that's not ashamed to be displayed.
My unconditional recommendation.

Stunning monitor. The super thin profile along with the the practically non existent bezel combine to make this piece a stunner. The wife does a lot of Photoshop tinkering with her shots, and the sharpness & clarity it adds to her work is miles above anything we've previously owned.
2 HDMI inputs?... Let's see - what can i add? A Roku box, a tv tuner for 4K displays? I see other reviewers have commented about no speakers, but in a monitor this thin, they'd either have to be tiny or backward firing. Ask yourself when was the last time you were happy with the built in speakers of your flat panel tv. That's why they sell so many soundbars.
I have this placed on a corner desktop in my dining area, so it's readily in sight of any household visitors. Running a screen saver or photo collage on it, I've never received so many comments on a computer screen. So, not just a monitor, for us it's a bit of an art display as well for the wife's handiwork.

Very capable unit for most applications
on August 19, 2018

Setup on this unit was trouble free & straightforward, other than the usual Windows updating. The keyboard/mouse is a throwaway, no surprise there, they'll be soon replaced with Logitech units. The case is mid size, sleek, good looking, with a lack of crevices, so an occasional swipe with a cloth should keep it dust free.
With 12GB ram & 1TB hard drive, these are more than ample specs for a basic household tasks, web browsing, homework, etc; and it's not going to choke on a steady diet of Office, photo or video editing. My wife does Photoshop, and she remarked at how snappy it was vs. our last unit, an i7 with 8GB.
This was connected as a wired unit, so cannot comment on the wireless capabilities. The Bluetooth, however, had no issues connecting to my Android phone, as well as a pair of Bluetooth headphones. And while I was perfectly content with the graphics package, my gaming regimen doesn't include games that require a high frame rate. I do use streaming services, both Netflix & Amazon came through beautifully.
Here's what I didn't like. After 2-3 years of service, I get quite uncomfortable living with a single hard drive. I prefer to segregate my personal data & files onto a separate drive so that in the event of a crash, I can system restore the unit and be safely transfer my date to another pc or a backup drive. Yeah, I know all about web storage & backups, but I'm an old school type of person - I want my important things close at hand in something i can see.
This is where the Dell fails. Yes, I looked inside. No room or bracketing to install spare drives. Even if you did, there's no spare power splits, and worst of all, proprietary cabling. I hate proprietary cabling! If I need to clone a drive, or add an SSD in a jif, I don't want to be calling Dell, pay a list price plus shipping, and wait for UPS delivery to show up. I either want to go local, or, at worst, get a cable from Amazon the next day - and they work 7 days a week.
If you're like me, looking to install a spare drive, or a gamer that wants to install a higher powered video card, then you run up against the power supply. It's just about adequate to run what comes in the box.
Finally, there's the issue of the RAM - no spare slots.
If you're the type of user that wants solid performance (BTW, should also mention this is a nice quiet box - no fan whirs & groans); and has no interest what's inside the box, this is an excellent choice.

Impressed

I've had 3 or 4 HP laptops over the years, my experience has been that they've seemed somewhat oversized and clunky as compared to the competition that was available at the time. This one has given me a fresh perspective. It's very stylish - the smoke grey aluminum finish looks great and has a nice tactile feel. (That's a word I usually associate with keyboards, but yes, the keyboard does have a nice touch to it.) The thin profile is deceiving, it has a good amount of heft to it, and a very solid & well put together feel.
That all means nothing if it doesn't work, but I found the performance to be better than expected. Whether it's the AMD chip, the solid state drive, or a combination of the two that does it, I'll leave that to the detailed technical specs to determine. I can just say that I found it to start quickly, both initially and on returning from sleep.
The initial setup was the best I've seen so far, it set up quickly including connecting to the wifi network.
The Vega/Radeon graphics were crisp, clean, and bright. Logged onto Netflix, sampled both film & animated clips, and found the quality to be excellent. This was enhanced by the B&O speaker setup; this unit sounded better than the built in speakers on the last 3 flat panel TV's I've bought!
I was happy with the full boat of outputs, including an HDMI & USB C ports. All nicely & neatly arranged & accessible. Very well put together.
If I had to throw a knock on this unit, it would be for the touch screen. I found that I needed to give a bit more of a press than what I would expect; definitely needs a bit more of a heavy touch than say, an IPad. An active stylus would seem to be a very welcome addition; I'll be shopping for one shortly.
If you're in the market for a convertible; and don't mind the heft of this piece (close to 5lb), this is a good value for a solid unit. Good job, HP!

Not everything i expected
on June 27, 2018

As my partner is a light snorer, I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of this new product. Given the Bose reputation along with my satisfaction with previous products purchased, I was expecting these would be the end of my sleep disturbances. However, there are a few flaws that prevent this from being a top notch product.
My biggest issue is that i was expecting these to have at least some level of noise cancellation built in. Not so. These will do a pretty decent job of negating light snoring, but if there's a tv playing, conversation, or a neighbor's dog barking, it's gonna come through. You can crank these up to the maximum and filter out some of the ambience, but i believe true noise cancellation circuitry would have been the better way to go.
The sleep buds also have a major annoyance - you have to fiddle with them to get them to work! Just what you want to do when you're ready to crash into bed. They're supposed to engage when you pull them out of the case, but it's hit & miss. If they fail to connect, you need to go through a procedure of re-seating them in the case, unplugging the case, plugging it back in. Sometimes more than once. Fun. Especially when you're dead tired. Maybe this can be fixed with a future update, but for now it's a fail.
Speaking of updates, the app went through an update when i first loaded it. You know the feeling you get when your pc freezes on you? Should i wait? Is it still downloading? I didn't clock it, but seemed the update took a good 10 minutes or so, & i'm connected to hi speed wifi. C'mon Bose, add a progress bar!
One more issue I had - if you're a side sleeper, with the earbud contacting the pillow, there is some conduction of noise if you move your head - kind of like the scratching you'd get from touching an open mike.
On the good side, the fit & build of the buds is excellent. It's the mechanics of it that needs some thought. As they stand, I can't see these helping against anything but some light snoring. It's really not going to do much more than a $50-$75 white noise machine. For $250, you're reaching up to the price point of a good set of noise cancelling headphones or earbuds. Think about it.

No - there is no input from anything other than the Bose App it comes with. Maybe on a future update, for now all you get is the built in soundscapes.

Nothing puts a vacuum to the test quite like a home with pets. That's why the BISSELL® Pet Hair Eraser® was developed from the ground up by pet parents for pet parents. Whether it's shedding season for your dog or your cat tracks kitty litter all over the house, this revolutionary vacuum is designed to make cleaning up after pets and the people who love them a breeze—from beginning to end. Say goodbye to hair wrap with its Tangle-Free Brush Roll, remove embedded hair everywhere with specialized pet tools, help capture allergens and eliminate odors with the SmartSeal™ Allergen System, and when you're finished cleaning, enjoy a hands-free tank empty with our patented Cyclonic Spooling System™.BR>

How load is it? I've used an Oreck XL upright and a Eureka Mighty Mite and would hope it's no louder as those. I prefer bagged vacuums but want to try the BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser because of its claims of not getting hair tangled on the roller.

I don't own the units you mentioned, I have a Miele canister, and it's no louder than that. I was surprised at it, as it does have great suction, and would have thought it should've been louder for the power it has. So far happy with the unit.
