Experience immersive entertainment options with this Sony 4K Blu-ray player. Its Ultra HD resolution provides exceptionally detailed screen images with increased brightness and more realistic color, and its support of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X provides cinema-quality sound. This Sony 4K Blu-ray player supports high-resolution audio formats for more accurate music reproduction.

Best 4K Player yet
on March 2, 2017

Compared to other 4k players on the market at this price range, it's the best one to buy. Possibly with the exception of the Panasonic, but that one is more than twice the cost of this player. It has Dolby Atmos which was really important to me.

The Definitive Technology SoloCinema Studio includes a slim, cloth-wrapped soundbar that delivers five-channel sound and looks great either mounted on the wall or resting on a stand, plus a wireless subwoofer that offers discreet placement options while filling in the low frequencies that really bring movies to life.

Don't buy this but get the newer model
on February 12, 2015

Due to reliability issues, I highly recommend spending the extra cash to buy the W model from DT. Other than that the sound is amazing for a soundbar. I had a Polk theater system and although this isn't exactly a direct substitute for a true theater system, this does come sonically pretty close. I like the fact that you can still adjust the center channel sound as well as other basic sound functions. There is however a slight delay in starting sound coming from the bar, about 1 to 2 seconds when you play anything. I'm using all HDMI input/throughput,/outputs.

Love this TV. Compared with Samsung 65"
on February 11, 2015

I really love this TV. I went back and forth and initially bought the Samsung curved tv that was on sale as well. After having that for a couple of days and playing with the picture settings, I just couldn't get it right. This tv however, looks good straight out of the box, and there are so many adjustments you can make to make the picture even better. Only thing it doesn't have is the Triluminous display, but I really could've cared less about that feature as I like a more natural tone versus an in-your-face color tone. Hardly any motion blur, and unlike some other reviews, there is no smell to it out of the box. The tv simply rocks, paired with Audioquest cables, simply a good solid tv with an elegant look. The price point was good too. I did a lot of research before buying, and had to go through 2 Samsungs to get to this TV. So do yourself a favor and get this TV if you are in the market for a new one, especially the 65". I have a medium sized living room and it looks perfect. Love this tv!

Between this tv and the Sony XBR 65 800B Series
on February 7, 2015
Posted by: Chen
This tv and the Sony XBR 65 800B is similarly priced and I was on the fence and couldn't decide between the two. I literally went back and forth checking for motion blur, picture quality, etc. I honestly think I made the right purchase. The Sony 800B, not the higher priced 850, doesn't have triluminous color which makes the picture look a little pale/neutral compared to the higher 850 series or this Samsung. Couple things to keep in mind is to not skimp on the HDMI cables. I highly recommend Audioquest cables over ANY Monster cable because they are of higher quality and the cables are directional, meaning the cable signal only goes one way, not like Monster. Since this is a 4k capable tv, please do yourself a favor and get Audioquest cables. The picture on this Samsung for me out of the box didn't look too good. I had to tinker with the picture settings to get the picture quality I wanted. But once calibrated to your liking, it looks really great. Even standard 720p cable looks pretty awesome. On a final note, I think in terms of build quality Sony does have the upper hand. I had to return my first Samsung because there was this weird smudge and hairline scratch on the screen. When I exchanged the TV at Bestbuy and brought the second one home, the frame had a 3cm chip on the top left part of the frame. I think in terms of quality checks Sony is better. But other than that, this Samsung is huge since I have a small to medium sized living room and gives it a theater like feeling. The curve doesn't get too noticeable after a few minutes of watching. Actually like others have said sometimes it gives off this sort of 3D appearance when viewing because of the curve. The thin bezel and with the 8.1 ch sound bar it looks great. Lastly, keep in mind Samsung's 2015 line up will consist of a new Smart software as well as SUHD (I'm guessing it's Super Ultra High Definition) TV's that will be released soon. Hence the sale prices on the UHD tvs. Still it's a 4K tv and a good bargain. Don't know if 4K will sort of die out like a temporary fad how Blu-Ray's are (since most are streaming contents now), but the future is OLED and until then this TV will do more than just satisfy most buyers looking for a decent 4K TV.

What is the best hdmi cable to buy

Audioquest is the way to go if you have a 4k tv. Monster doesn't even compare. Simply looking at Monster's transfer rates makes you want to buy one, but Audioquest is Magnolia's recommended line . The best cable from Audioquest is very expensive. But I think maximum you should get is the Audioquest Chocolate. It does the job very very well. Audioquest cables are directional with arrows on the cable, which I think places the cable a notch above any Monster high end cable. You can even confirm this with Bestbuy workers in Magnolia .Hope this helps

What is the Best Viewing Distance for this TV?

I can find the Optimum viewing distance for regualr TV's but Not the Curved Tv's!
HELP!!!
Also: What is the optimum viewing Height?
Hey Brian, actually I saw a formula for curved tv's at my local BestBuy store, but I just can't recall exactly what it is. But if you can I'd go into the store and ask an associate or watch the demo video that keeps looping. Hope this helps. (I think it was 1.5 x the vertical height of the curved tv, whereas flat tv's are multiplied by the diagonal height)
