Do not buy

Laptop is less than 4 months old. When opening the laptop, the lower left corner of the cover separated from the screen and the screen cracked at the bottom. HP support called this accidental damage, even though I was merely opening the unit. this is not covered under basic warranty and HP said it would be minimum $349 parts and labor to fix assuming just the screen needs replacing. You should be able to open the laptop without the back coming off causing the glass to break...

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Does this computer come with word or do you have to purchase it

You have to purchase Microsoft Office separately, it does not come with any Excel, Word, etc.
