The Windows 7/8 hybrid

I was one of the few that actually enjoyed Windows 8. It was a bold approach, a detour in the humdrum updates of past Windows or tragic missteps (*cough* Vista *cough*) along the way. That said, I am pleased with what was kept in this version of Windows from version 8. Windows 7, I thought, was a backstep but is was solid and people took to it. Windows 10 is the best of the last two put together into a solid yet forward moving version of Windows. But it's Windows. If you're not using OS X, Linux, or Chrome OS, you're using Microsoft's OS and reviews abound about it. Let me tell you about THIS purchase.
Very nice. No disk, it's a tiny flash drive in the box with a card holding the product key. I bought this for a friend and installing was a snap. The flash drive is made cheaply and I'd be wary of leaving lying about. It's small and easily lost but I don't believe it'd take much to break it. The box is sturdy and can easily be used to store it.

This is why we go to the movies. This is Art.

Story. Character. Plot. The integral and minute ways these elements affect and evolve one another. If storytelling and emotion is why you like movies then Fury Road is a no brainer. This movie is so engrossing and consuming, I think it transcends a franchise and a namesake. It is a cinematic feat. It is a long movie yet one that never dawdled.
I am not there are any words that can describe it. You can read a synopsis or a review but, if you're up for it, this is an experience. At least attempt it. If not your cup of tea it's still what a movie experience is supposed to be.

Worth what I paid

I tested out many headphones leading up to the purchase of these. Because of the hype I admit I leaned towards Beats though I checked out Bose, Sony and many variations of them all. The Beats, to me, had a better sound. None of them blew me away. Obviously better than mere earbuds, I favored the over-ear models due to the complete isolation from the noise around. I decided on these for two basic reasons: they were on sale and Beats was just acquired by Apple.
I am an unapologetic Apple fanboy. While Beats lack some of the aesthetics of the Big A, if they thought it was a brand worth investing in there must be some merit. Also, these were nearly 70% off. THAT was quite a motivator! So I bought them. I do not regret the purchase. I am listening to them as I type this. Good sound. It's a complimentary color to my Mac's aluminum finish. I do not travel with them so I can't say of their ability to take attack and strain. I wish the cable, with its volume rocker and mic, was on the right side like other earbuds I use (I get confused when I need to pause, etc which side it's on) and the L-shaped minijack is a pain when plugged in to some devices. I also would've preferred the (Product)Red model but they weren't on sale. These were a nice alternative.
Overall, Beats are overpriced. They may not be the best but I do enjoy the sound of them for the price I paid. I'm not sure the sound I'm looking for exists but these were the best of all I tried out. It may come down to personal preference but definitely try these out.
And keep an eye out for sales. I see the over-ear and wireless models drop in price too!

Great Capacity Inside, Cheap Shell on Outside

This was an amazing deal during Best Buy's Deal of the Day sale. I purchased two for the price of one normally. Eight gigabytes seems the perfect capacity for a flash drive today. As far as that goes, this is a great purchase. However, the build of the device just feels cheap. The white housing has a look and feel of the cheap toys you find in a dollar store. The blue sheath seems made of sturdier plastic, which is good since it's the moving piece on the device (slide it back on the device to expose the USB connector), but I already have stress marks (white blemishes in colored plastic) from being slid back and forth.
All of that would have been permissible, you get what you pay for, but I'm concerned about the USB connector itself. It's also of plastic, the cheap white of the device. It's thin and I feel one too many times of sticking it in a USB port the wrong way (perhaps even the right way) may break it causing damage to the device and computer. Hold it in your hand and you can hear the piece rattle, probably the actual flash stick inside which isn't adhered or secured to the outer shell.
All the above is just concern for a rugged lifestyle. The piece works and was a great price. I feel it should run faster (a concern I have for all flash drives however, and it's used with a Mac which never reads/writes well with flash drives). If they went on sale again I would without a doubt suggest to friends. For full price, I'd expect a little better build.

I was a fan of Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi many years ago when that game pitted Luke against Fett against Vader against Leia. There was a probability issue. Yes Luke and Han may have a disagreement, but nobody can deflect a light saber. The same logic goes into this game. As much as i want to see Batman beat up on Superman, WHY would he? Easy, it's an alternate dimension. But such storylines do not appeal to me. Yet, I admit, playing through the story mode of the game revealed a planned out story (similar to the story mode from the recent Mortal Kombat, made by the same people, by the way) with enough plausibility to make it enjoyable.
Within that fighting, the controls are simple but mastering them are not. A whole slew of counter moves make the game more challenging against you and beneficial when you are the underdog. The story can be finished in a few hours but there's plenty of STAR lab missions and there's incentive to do them for the unlockables. Skins, promo art. And then there's online play that will keep the fights coming on and on. I am not one that cares for online play, mostly because my friends have given up online play and the strangers I am paired up with are much more adept in the game than I.
One of the biggest selling points for me was the interaction between the console version of Injustice and the mobile. Using each, and a WB ID, many extras can be unlocked within both versions. Gives a little more incentive to play both for a while. Kudos for the replayability. However, one glaring thing I noticed different between the two versions is the graphics. Yes, the console is 3-D and interactable, but after playing the mobile on my iPad, with limited moves and no environment interaction, with crisp graphics I found the console version to be fuzzy, muddled. I know the screen is smaller and there's less demand on CPU and GPU on the iPad, but this is a fighting game on the console. I've seen sandbox games look clearer and more polished.
All in all, it's fun. Plenty to do after the story is through, even if one does not like online interaction like myself. Daily challenges both on and off line add replaybility and, c'mon, who hasn't wanted to punch Aquaman at least once?

Card unusable in adapter
on January 30, 2013

I use it with:DSLR camera
Verified Purchase:Yes
I have a Canon XTi which uses a Compact Flash card. I found and bought a SDHC-to-compact flash adapter so that I could use SD cards in my camera and utilize the SD card slot on my MacBook Pro to transfer photos. I previously bought a PNY SD card just for external storage for my Mac and it worked perfectly with my adapter (perhaps a little slower than usual). However, this Kingston card cannot be read by my adapter. I've changed the formatting but an error always prevents use. I've studied the specs of this card and others, taken into account the limitations of the adapter and certain hardware, but I cannot figure out what is wrong.
That, my personal caveat, aside, this card has worked well as a storage device. Since I don't have a camera that uses SD I cannot speak to its primary purpose, but read speeds from and to it using my MBP's SD slot and using a card reader on other computers are quite nice. I've also used it to transfer photos and movies from these computers to my iPad (via Apple's camera connection kit) to provide external storage for that device.
The card is perfect as a storage device. It cost me a little over $1 (end of year deal, Reward Zone certificate... only had to pay shipping) so I can't complain for it not doing what it wasn't specifically made to do. Storage is nice (my other 8 GB card can hold over 4000 photos from a 8MP camera). If you use a camera with SD this device should serve you well. Using it as removable storage (like a thumb drive) will work as well.
What's great about it: good storage, price
What's not so great: not compatible with Compact Flash adapters

Solid, multi use controller

I bought this controller to play games on my computer. I use a Mac with Windows installed via BootCamp. This controller is usable on both platforms I use. I've been partial to Sony consoles over the years and have little use of any XBox. I love the Dual Shock controller on their products but found switching to this for computer gaming wasn't too weird. I'm having difficulty remembering the buttons (A, B, X, Y) due to unfamiliarity and don't care much for the direction pad (one solid piece, wherein a Sony Dual Shock are four separate "buttons" up, down, left, right, which felt sturdier). It is claimed that due to the offset joysticks that this controller is more comfortable and ergonomically correct. I didn't find it intuitive though that may be because the layout is completely new to me. All in all, I found hand cramping to be as frequent with this as any other controller I've used.
Ultimately, if you want to do PC gaming there are no alternatives. This IS the controller you want. Particularly, any game marked "Games for Windows" MUST support it and most other and older games make it mappable. This is a great investment if you're a gamer.
What's great about it: multi-platform use, plug and play, allegedly ergonomic
What's not so great: person preferences, learning a new controller layout

Not the end all, be all; good enough

First off, I opted to apply this screen protector myself so some of my grievances may be from poor labor. Such problems would be debris caught under the film (one speck, dead center of the screen) and the "shifting" of the film after application which caused bubbles and wrinkles (though I meticulously and carefully applied it). It took a couple of weeks for this shifting to occur where the instructions said that in the same amount of time it would become nearly invisible, not buckle and scrunch. It looks like a piece of plastic slapped onto my iPhone. Granted, when using the phone it's not noticeable at all. In fact, a previous scratch on my screen is no longer visible with the film on. When the phone is off, the plastic is quite visible like a slab of plastic slapped on it. The poorly aligning cutouts add to this, ever so slightly not aligning with sensors, speaker and Home button. My thumbnail catches the edge on the Home button while the cutout for the microphone is flush.
Again, problems may be from applying it myself. It does offer good protection as I've been more careless with my pocket's contents and no damage or snags show up. For the price, I expected it to fit my phone better (the sides don't cover the whole front of my phone; it would bother me more if I wasn't using in conjunction with a bumper case that covers the gap) and that it would simply disappear (what with INVISIBLE in the name). I don't think there is a better protector out there, cheaper ones peeling off after little time, others perhaps applying more evenly but make display darker, cloudy.
One true dislike I had was the amount of liquid I was instructed to use on my electronic device. So much, the directions were to dampen, apply, and leave phone to sit 24 hours to dry so any liquid that found its way into the phone would dry. The chance of water damage and being without the device for that long a time are severe, if limited, drawbacks.
What's great about it: good protection, crystal clear, covers previous damage
What's not so great: bubbles, wrinkles; custom cut doesn't line up

Best backup, best initial purchase!
on June 29, 2012

I have a routine I normally follow. I buy a Western Digital My Book external drive, the drive fails, I crack open the case and replace with a Seagate, and the drive works without issue from then on.
Reliability. That's the word I use for Seagate. Any drive can go bad; the first drive I had fail was a Seagate Barracuda. But not one since has failed me. I bought this drive to replace yet another failed Western Digital My Book and found the case for it had failed as well. I bought a external enclosure and put the Seagate in it (a practice I recommend; build your own external drives). Works like a dream.
With Solid State Drives becoming more ubiquitous and hard drive manufacturers pushing the limits of the form factor, I think the prices for these drives are a bit steep. Also, be careful when buying. Though I was purchasing this for backup storage space it crossed my mind to swap out my main drive. Unfortunately, it wasn't until I arrived home that I saw it was a "green" drive. While a good move environmentally, such drives are not good if you want the best performance from your computer (i.e.- don't use "green" drives as your startup disk). I had scanned the boxes in the store and didn't notice it on this drive's packaging. Other manufacturers mark their packaging with a leaf or color the box green. Besides a thin strip, no markings are on this case.
Reliable drive, plenty of storage, easily formatted for Mac or PC. As a "green" product, better suited for a backup disk.
What's great about it: Reliable, storage, plug and play
What's not so great: price, poor box labeling

Since my Mac Pro runs continuously 24/7 I didn't notice one caveat to this drive. I put together an external drive with this and an Initio external casing. Any time I've had to restart my Mac (just updated the OS) the four internal drives mount and one other external does. I get an error every single boot that a drive could not be read, given option to format the drive. In Disk Utility it shows up as a 2.2 GB drive. If you get this error DO NOT format the drive.
While it could be the external case (not likely, I've used it with other drives without this issue), I have heard complaints about this drive, because it's "green" and power usage fluctuates, a computer has a difficult time with its initiation; it doesn't spin up fast enough to be recognized. I have to unmount the drive, usually power it off and back on for it to mount correctly. All the data is still there (that's why my warning gives me 2.2 GB capacity, I've used .8 GB of the drive).
This will happen every time a computer is turned on with the drive attached. Since I use it for backups it is connected all the time, to a desktop where disconnecting is a inconvenience by itself and also for a product to be less than optimal as an external drive. I am not sure if the same thing occurs if the drive is installed internally (I doubt it, internal connectors are faster) but I now DEFINITELY do not recommend this one as a startup drive. For me it's less of an issue since I don't reboot my system that often. But had I known this, I would have deducted a star from my review. Still good for a backup drive but it's usefulness is marred by it's inability to be ready when needed.
