Works well, but beware of the setup

Good product, easy to get installed, but it went down and was unrecognizable to my network on the 2nd day. Searched online and this seems to be a fairly common issue that requires tech support to fix. Calling Western Digital Customer Service is an adventure to put it nicely. I would suggest calling during the day when more experienced technical service is available. After 2 days of phone calls I finally got a tech to remote into my cpu and change network settings. After that I reset the drive to factory settings by poking a paper clip into the back of the drive for 40 secs. This got me access to the dashboard and an opportunity to map a drive letter to the unit. Bottom line, this is a good solution for storing and serving information but it is not as plug and play as people make it sound and the lack of documentation / instructions packed with the unit is mostly to blame. I would recommend this unit, but beware that this could require a good to advanced level of NAS setup and configuration knowledge to get it running smoothly.
