I should have expected it. I bought this machine for my office, and along with it the $120 grind-and-brew version for home. That one lasted all of 3 months. This one held out a bit longer, almost 2 years. But for the price, that's not too good. It replaced a Mr. Coffee machine that cost me $14.99 and lasted 18 years. Yes, 18. I think that Cuisinart got so caught up in adding features that they forgot the one feature that really counts, and that's quality. The front switch won't turn the machine on anymore. When it worked, it was a pretty good machine, but I didn't notice any appreciable difference in the quality of coffee over any cheap machine. It still drips hot water through coffee grounds. Oh, well. Some lessons are more expensive than others. This machine is now in the trash and sitting in its place is, you guessed it, a $19.99 Mr. Coffee machine.
