I purchased this to replace an older 5.1 Sony that had the center channel fail on me.
Pros: What I immediately noticed was the sound! It had more bottom end, incredible sound separation. It just seemed like the speakers sounded better. I placed my ear up against the front speakers & there was absolutely no dialog from the center channel bleeding through, unlike my Sony.
Cons: What I don't like is that there are no dedicated buttons or dials to get into the menu. If the remote breaks, I don't think that you could do much with it. My old Sony had the setup buttons, tone buttons etc on the front.
Overall, if you're looking for a basic receiver & mainly interested in sound quality, I would recommend this receiver. I looked at several models & it seems as though they don't make receivers like they use to with the bass & treble controls on the front.
My Best Buy number: 2527157663
What's great about it: Excellent sound quality, very good separation, inexpensive, good bottom end, legacy connections
What's not so great: Most things have to be done with the remote, difficult user interface, no dedicated knobs for tone control
I would recommend this to a friend!

I just installed this on my desktop pc running Vista. Had a very minor issue while trying to install it but after a few attempts, I got it.
At first, I thought that I was about to return it because it was running so slowly & showed a very weak signal & then I realized that I was connected to a neighbors unsecured network. Once I accessed my network & entered in my access code, signal strength showed 8 of the 8 bars & the internet was just as quick as my computer directly connected to the router.
So far, I think that it was a good buy.
What's great about it: inexpensive, easy to install, compact
What's not so great: nothing yet

This movie blew me away. I watched it on a big screen TV with 5.1 surround and it was awesome! I don't want to give away too much but for me, it had a great message behind it about nature & how everything is somehow connected. It reminded me of our rain forests & the indigenous people that live there & how they don’t need technology to live. It also reminded me of our American Indians & how they were connection with nature & animals. You must watch it! It will take you away to another world & you'll realize how we've become detached from nature & how dependant we are on electronics.
What's great about it: The soundtrack, the action, the positive message behind it, the special effects
What's not so great: Special features weren't included with my copy. Wanted to see how it was all made.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This little cable saved me from having to replace my Sony stereo receiver. I am currently using an older but good Sony DVR player with 5.1 RCA outputs & it is going to the 5.1 RCA inputs on my receiver but the inputs on the receiver have had some kind of short causing my front speaker's sound to cut out. I would have to jiggle the wires to get the sound to come back. I decided to try this optical cable, thinking, how could 5.1 sound go through a single cable. All I can say is "Unbelievable!" I am using Polk Audio 5.1 speakers...they're little ones & they have always sounded a bit mid-rangy & tinny for my taste. After using this optical cable, the sound has greatly improved. The sound seems to be more even, richer, and warmer sounding. If you're using RCA cables, ditch them and buy this!
What's great about it: Improved sound, low price, replaces 6 RCA cables!
What's not so great: Nothing!

Like someone else had written in their review, it’s most likely going to take trying it more than once. I would have to say that I ran through the steps about 5 times when I was about to give up. I had all the print outs on the latest DVD players Best Buy has and was just about to grab my car keys and go get one when I thought I would try it one last time. On my last try, I began hearing the audio come through the speakers, then my DVD player turned off on it’s own displaying a dirty disk message. So I tried again, and the next time I got further into the track than before and it shut off again. I kept repeating these steps several times. You won’t see any video with this product, just audio. There are several tracks in different languages. You go to track 1 and you hear music with instructions to skip ahead to track 5 when the music stops. My problem was that it took several times before my DVD player would read it. Good luck!
What's great about it: Saved me from replacing a perfectly good 5.1 Sony Dvd player
What's not so great: Almost gave up thinking it wasn't working

Only at Best BuyLenovo S8-50 Tablet: Play games, type documents and fire off e-mails while you're on the move. This tablet's thin, light frame makes it ideal for students and travelers without sacrificing power or screen space.

battery charging

When I have it plugged in to charge but still use the tablet, for some reason the tablet doesn't charge but runs on the main electricity. Any reason why this happens
I checked all throughout the settings menu & couldn't find a setting that would disable charging.
If the charger is pushed into the reseptical properly, you should be able to use while charging. If the tablet is charging, you'll see a tiny lightning bolt on the battery indicator.
If you've checked all this, I'd return it for another one.
Hope that helps.

Adjusting start-up volume

How do I turn off the start-up noise? It is incredibly loud! And toggling the volume switch doesn't do anything while powering on-and I don't want to turn off the main volume for everything - just the start-up logo volume.
That's easy! I too didn't like it & that's not good turning it on & off if someone is trying to rest nearby.
OK.... So go to settings, then audio profiles, then select standard ring, then just simply make sure the box next to Switch Tone is unchecked.
That's it! : )
Hope that helps! Paul
