Router with no features
on February 7, 2015

I have been using this router for a few months. The router has been working with no interruptions which is very important. Once in a while it gets updates which means they are improving the device and that is good but here are the downs:
I had to contact the support on the phone and after a decent wait I had a rep with an Indian accent who sounded like has not much understanding of the router! What more frustrating was the poor connection. I have tried to use blocked keyword for certain websites and this feature has been blocking me to book a hotel online and this guy, after a long hold he came back saying he had to do some research was not able to advise me anything but remove the keywords.
This router is capable emailing the user a weekly activity report and I have tried long to set this up but could not make it to work so since I had him on the phone I asked him to see if we can make it work and he put me on another hold after 5 minutes of which the hold-music stopped playing so I realized that he hung-up because he never called me back.
At the beginning he had asked me to give him another phone number in case we get disconnected. I don't know why he took my number in case we disconnected to call me if he was not going to call me? I do not have time to call again and because I never have time I almost never rate products but I took my time to leave this review for other customers who want a router with all the features it comes with.
Apparently while on hold I heard that NETGEAR does not provide phone support if you are beyond your 90 day from the date of purchase. I used ASUS prior to this one and Asus customer support reps know what you are talking about when you have an issue and they helped me on the phone almost after 1 year from purchase. I removed 2 stars for after sale poor customer support, 1 star for the advertised features not working. 1 star for the rep's integrity to promise a call if disconnected but never calling back. I rated it only one star because it is working just like any other routers. As a result; I am not a NETGEAR customer anymore...
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
