Fantastic for homes, small office or school dorm!

This is a monochrome laser printer! That means it doesn’t and can’t print in color! For someone that doesn’t print very often, laser printers are the best option since toner doesn’t dry out! And if you print a lot, then toner tends to be more cost effective as well as producing a more professional result. HP sets the standard for personal and business printers, and they’ve added a lot of value-added features. This unit can print, scan, and copy and has a 21 page per minute stated speed! The printer comes with a free 6-month enrollment in their Instant Ink program, and you can cancel after that with no penalty. The Instant Ink programs has different enrollment levels based on the number of pages you print per month, and they allow a roll over credit and include an extra year on the warranty. There are premium advanced productivity features available for free for the first 2 years. The unit is sized right for a home office and is just a little over 14” wide and 10” deep. The unit works best when paired with the HP app, there are also limited manual controls on the top of the device. The print resolution can be as high as 600x600 and the copy resolution 600x400. It will print from the HP Smart App, Apple AirPrint and Wi-Fi Direct printing. You can also integrate your scanning to save documents to Dropbox, Google Drive or email, and you can print directly from these the 2 cloud services with their app. There’s also a ID card printing feature that enables you to print both sides of an ID card or other small document on to one side of a sheet of paper. The ease of use and print quality is fantastic!

Great mid-level starter set

The wheel has a nice leather-like material on the outside, and contours on the inside making it very easy to grip. There are a good number of face buttons within easy reach, the shifter paddles on the back feel okay but make a loud click when pressed. The clamp mount for the wheel is sturdy on a flat surface, but if there is a support bar running along the front it may be hard to get a good grip.
Force feedback is where it really shines, can really feel the “fight” through turns, and can experience every bump and texture in the road.
Going over to the pedal set it's made primarily of plastic with metal heads, the gas and clutch are smooth with almost no resistance, while the brake takes a stiff press, and has an interchangeable spring to make it stiffer.
Unfortunately, there's very little grip on the bottom so it will work better if you have a desk frame to put it against to keep it in place.
You can easily move all the pedals left or right, and the gas pedal can also be moved up and down to get everything in the perfect spot for you. Overall, I would highly recommend this!

Going electric might feel like a big step, but with this brush you’re in safe hands. Its slim ergonomic design and familiar-shaped head gives you everything you need, and nothing you don't. Sonicare technology gently pulses water between your teeth, for a difference you can feel. With two intensity settings, you can also choose a more gentle clean.

Not your typical motorized toothbrush.
on January 11, 2022

I was expecting a typical electric toothbrush, but this was a pleasant surprise. I was expecting a brush where the bristles moved basically duplicating (at a higher speed) normal brushing action. This unit has 2 speeds, and initially, you want to start using it on low. There's an option to have the unit gradually increase the intensity over time. The built-in timer is set for 2 minutes and can divide your brushing time into quarters. The battery life is stated to be 14 days, and the charging base uses a standard USB-A connector but no charging block is included. From what I can tell this technology is a game changed when it comes to oral care.

Good entry level laptop!
on December 25, 2021
Posted by: IndyTechGuy

As configured this laptop is adequate for 60fps games, but it won’t perform at levels that justify the 120Hz display. The display is acceptable for the price, but the black was a bit lacking. On the plus side, there was no notable motion blur when it ran at lower refresh rates. The heat load was attained using "HITMAN™ 2" (released in 2018, not to be confused with "hitman 2: silent assassin" released in 2002), a notoriously intensive game that stresses the GPU and CPU very highly. The heat felt on the keyboard during gameplay is minimal, and there was no notable heat around the touchpad area. The fan noise is as expected but unexpectedly whiny for the case size and full blown “jet engine” when the gaming shift is engaged. All case temperature readings were mild when playing an intensive game that stresses the GPU and CPU. I’ve included screenshots from 3dmark's timespy benchmark and hitman 2's built-in benchmark. Hitman 2 was running at identical 1080p ultra, and I let it loop a couple of times to let it heat up to show saturated heat performance in actual gaming. The laptop ships with 8 gb of ram which is less than the norm for any serious gaming, multi-tasking or graphics use. I haven’t opened the case, but per the spec sheet there’s only 1 memory slot, so you would have to upgrade to a 16 GB DDR 4 module and not just add 8 GB. The laptop has Wireless-AX and a 10/100/1000/2500 Ethernet card, both of which are more than adequate. The sound is really good, and the built-in microphone and camera are fine for video conferencing. Putting performance, this is a very stylish laptop that will be the envy of any passers-by!

Really nice watch...with caveats.
on November 17, 2021
Posted by: IndyTechGuy
from Chicago, IL
This watch is very stylish, and unless someone looks closely, they won’t notice it’s not a standard analog watch. The Scanwatch is marketed as a device that focuses on health, not fitness. This is not the watch to buy if you’re looking for stand-alone GPS, connected sensors, or detailed fitness data. There is no option to download or play music. You can see snippets of texts that are received or a limited number of app notifications, but you can’t respond to them and they can’t be referenced once they scroll off the screen.
This watch requires a phone or tablet with the Health Mate app installed to set up! It will function as a watch once set up without being connected to a device, but a device is required for the ECG feature and any workouts where you opt for GPS tracking. Given the limited display size on the watch
15 to 30-day battery life depending on the frequency of the notifications, SpO2 and ECG usage, and Respiratory Scans
On-demand ECG and SpO2 as well as nightly SpO2 tracking.
Respiratory Scans can be turned off, set to automatic which scans a couple of times every 3 months, or always on which will give you a result every morning but really decreases the battery life.
Irregular heartbeat tracking alerts you to signs of atrial fibrillation. HR monitoring is every 10 minutes during regular use and constantly while in workout mode.
Daily step goal configurable in 1,000 step increments from 3,000 to 15,000.
The watch does not have an accelerometer, so steps generally won’t be recorded on a treadmill.
Steps counts are very accurate for outside walks including pushing a shopping cart, but aside from this, they are substantially lower than any other device I’ve used. Specifically, it’s 35 steps in my office from my desk to the printer, so 70 round trips. On my last count, I made that journey 15 times one day aside from any other walking. My total step count when I left work was less than 700 steps. That includes my mourning routine and walking to my car, parking and walking in the office, and all my movement around the office. I get up and leave my phone at my desk often, and my iPhone step count was still 35% higher than what the watch recorded. But it’s all about baselines, so if it’s consistent in undercounting steps at least you’ll have good data to discern if you’re increasing your step count.
Stride length IS NOT configurable. Sleep tracking results in a Sleep Score for comparison purposes, but the only data provided is Deep/Light/Duration and interruptions along with your average heart rate based on 10-minute samplings. There’s no estimation of REM, and in my experience the sleep tracking is inaccurate. Most nights if I get up to use the facilities and go right back to sleep, it ends tracking for the night at that point. You have the option to edit your sleep/wake times and have it fill in the missing data with sleep. It’s hit and miss whether this data will populate as solid sleep or fill in what actually happened or would have happened had you not left the bed. Calories burned are based on your height/weight/activities. Heart rate is not considered when calculating burned calories.
You only have the option to set 3 alarms, and they can only be set in the Health Mate app.
The display can be configured to display all of the following with the exception of the digital date and time which is a fixed option.
Heart Rate – Sampled every 10 minutes unless you’re in an activity.
ECG – To activate and be told if it’s “normal” or not, but the Health Mate App is required to see the results.
Oxygen Saturation
Steps
Settings – Reset and battery % and turn Quicklook and Do Not Disturb on and off. There is no option to turn the watch off.
Breathe – Guided breathing
Workouts – 6 configurable choices on the watch from the following options.
You can also start any workout from the Health Mate app. The watch will not pair to or receive data from any external devices like a speed/cadence sensor on a bicycle. Indoor Cycling, Cycling, Walking, Fitness, Elliptical, Other, Swimming, Running, Hiking, Weights, Indoor Walking, Indoor Running, Rowing, Yoga, Pilates, Dancing, Zumba, Tennis, Badminton, Squash, Ping Pong, Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Football, Rugby, Handball, Volleyball, Hockey, Ice Hockey, Climbing, Golf, Boxing, Windsurfing, Kitesurfing, Surfing, Skiing, Snowboarding, Ice Skating & Horseback riding. There are no options to add other apps, so you have to use “Other” for things like gardening, etc.
Clock – Stopwatch, timer, or turning off preset alarms
Calories
Distance
Elevation
This watch has a lot of potential, but it's limited by the features
and limitations of the accompanying Health Mate app.

Lightweight Powerhouse
on October 27, 2021
Posted by: IndyTechGuy
from Chicago, IL
“Lightweight” doesn’t adequately describe this mouse! It’s literally lighter with the built-in rechargeable power source than most mice without batteries and weighs in at 79G. The stated operating time between charges is 60 hours with the 2.4GHz Slipstream dongle and 90 hours on Bluetooth and it can operate as a wired mouse with the included paracord. It is a 26,000 DPI mouse with 5 selectable report speeds from 2000Hz to 125Hz for all your gaming needs. The mouse becomes full-featured with the addition of the iCUE app available for download. You can program up to 3 onboard profiles, and add countless other game or task-specific ones through the app. iCUE uses close to 123 MB of memory operating on the background and over 400 MB when active. The glide pads are replaceable, and the mouse can be used with a claw or palm grip due to the multi-sensitive top buttons. This is billed as a “competition-grade” mouse and nothing I’ve found would lead me to disagree with that description. There are 7 programable buttons, custom RGB lighting, the option to calibrate the mouse for different surfaces, and specific key assignments. But aside from performance, it’s comfortable to use for extended periods.

Fantastic space saving hot/iced coffee maker!
on October 17, 2021
Posted by: IndyTechGuy

This is one of the easiest to use hot or iced coffee makers that I've tried. Obviously, any coffee maker can make hot coffee, and then you could pour it over ice, but this system makes it easy to get a consistent brew time after time! It includes a 2-sided scoop for measuring your coffee depending on whether you are making a hot or iced beverage. The included tumbler has a water measurement for iced coffee to make up to 22 oz, and the machine can make up to 16 oz of hot coffee. This is a pod-free coffee maker so it’s good for the environment and saves money! The unit comes with a single-serve reusable filer, a reusable tumbler, a lid, and a straw. But you can also brew into your favorite cup! As with all drip coffee makers, the closer the top of the cup is to the coffee outlet the less splashing will occur. It has a very slim form and will fit on the smallest counter, and the scoop is stored in a recess in the coffee maker, so you don’t lose it! The only clean-up required is to rinse the coffee filter and brew basket.

The heat felt on the keyboard during gameplay is tolerable, and there was no notable heat around the touchpad area. The fan noise is as expected but unexpectedly whiny for the case size. The outer edges near the vents get warm during intensive gaming, so a lap pad would be useful if you weren’t using a table or desk. The temperature readings are higher when playing an intensive game that stresses the GPU and CPU. Less intensive games will stress the system less heavily overall, but if you’re streaming at the same time (which this hardware can handle with ease) you would most likely have higher heat loads than you’d experience during daily use but they’re still within reason.
I’ve included screenshots from 3dmark's timespy benchmark and hitman 2's built-in benchmark. hitman 2 was running at identical 1080p ultra, and I let it loop a couple of times to let them heat up to show saturated heat performance in actual gaming. The RX6700M appears to be too new to appear in the 3dmark database. I ran 3dmark twice, once from an idle cool state and once after running stress tests to heat up the laptop to see how much the performance drops. The only downside for me was the lack of a wired ethernet port, but it does have wireless AX networking.

Good choice for a gaming HDD
on August 11, 2021
Posted by: IndyTechGuy

The Western Digital Black series drives are always rated in the top 3 for reliability in most trade mags! I've used these drives for 20 years since the "special edition" drives were released and have never been disappointed and now they have a 5-year warranty! This is a bare drive with no cables, screws, rails or other hardware included. The stated speed is 6 Gb/s with 256 MB Cache. The drive does runs “cool” even during large data transfers, and the benchmark performance is about 30% faster than my old drive. Of course, this doesn’t match the performance of an SSD drive, but it has much better response and access times than any “standard” PC drive. I’m not including a list of benchmarks since all systems vary, and the high level of performance for these drives is well known and is what gamers expect! This is a great drive for gaming in general or your Steam library!

The ROCCAT Syn Pro Air is a versatile over the ear headset that can be used for gaming, entertainment, or any office functions. It charges fast via USB-C and has a stated 24-hour battery life with a 5 hour use time from a 15-minute charge. There is a USB-A transmitter dongle included for connecting to your computer and a USB-C adapter if needed. The dongle pairs automatically to the headphones when they are powered on. A detachable omnidirectional boom microphone is included that has a “swing to mute” feature and the quality if very good. My friends were able to understand me speaking in a range from a whisper to yelling! There’s breathable “athletic” fabric in the headband and ear pads to minimize any discomfort from heat or sweating, and the padding is memory foam so there’s no need for adjustments. There is a power button, volume wheel, mute microphone button, and microphone volume wheel that are positioned for easy usage on the headphones. The headphones also have an illumination feature that will work with other AIMO-compatible devices. The yokes for the earpads fold flat for storage. The headphones are configurable via the ROCCAT NEON software available for download.

Not a good phone
By BAronson
I bought this phone after reading the what seemed to be amazing reviews. I was slightly disappointed after the third day of having my phone when it would reset itself about 5 times a day due to it over heating. Bearing with it i kept the phone. The phone eventually stopped over heating but with that problem going away, another arose. the camera. No matter what you take a picture of it comes out grainy and slightly blurred. I, being a photographer, was highly disappointed at this. The battery power was another concern. I am on my phone for maybe, 2 hours total a day. My phone will be at 100% at 8 AM and by 10 AM it will be on 22% without me even using it yet. I turn on battery saver and it seems to make the battery die faster. I have now had the phone for a year, the phone now, will not display the keyboard and then after it being frozen for 5 minutes will completly restart and come back on and repeat the process over again. When the phone actually remains on it will consistently bring up the "Ok google" voice activation without me saying a word. Data and storage is not good. I am supposed to have nationwide data, but don't get it ANYWHERE through t mobile and the storage on my phone is constantly full even without any pictures or apps on it. Apps crash on a daily basis and the phone is very delayed (after pressing the home button, it is usual to have to wait a half minute before anything shows up). I would NOT buy this phone. I would spring for the slightly more expensive but oh so worth it LG Stylo. I had the stylo for 3 years and had no complaints about the phone at all. Very durable and very fast.

The LG Stylo was released in May of 2015...I'm confused as to how you could have had it for 3 years.
Statements like this make your review "suspect".

I'm planning on purchasing these headphones for my daughter, whose attending college. I have no idea what color she'd prefer and since it's a gift I don't plan on asking. Is one color preferred over the other?

I would think they'd be a little small for a college age young woman!
