Broken Hearted -Loved this phone

This is a remarkable phone and I was tearing-up as I packed it to return. It does everything they say it will - and then some. Plus, for lots of extra tips & tricks and help, go to YouTube there is a lot of info. there from Mate 9 experts and others. So, why the broken heart ? It's not you, it's me. I have a spinal situation which is affecting my left side, arm, hands, hip balance etc. I trip a lot and drop just about everything. I fall down, often. It's lovely. I'd wanted a phone with a really good camera and call capacity. Camera that I could fearlessly take outside for photoing my dog on the beach or in the snow, in all kinds of weather, a phone that I'd not be afraid of slipping out of my hands. I realized too late that this beautiful, flagship, incredibly- priced phone (it was $499 in December) just won't cut it if I want something that won't die in the sand, snow or sea or toilet. this phone can't take humidity nor rain. Living in Boston w/only two seasons - wet & hot, wet & cold, I"m outta luck. Anyway, the Mate 9 is a fantastic phone. It's "affordable* and beautiful (I prefer square things to rounded things) and if I didn't have this disability,coupled with age, it'd be a no brainer, it's a keeper. If Huawei would market & sell the P10 in the USA I'd take out a loan to buy their first water resistant phone. I love my moonlight silver Mate 9 but it makes no sense to own a phone which I'm afraid to move around with. On day 2 I almost drowned it at The Porcelain Bowl . I forgot it was in my jeans, back pocket and after a trip to the loo - couldn't figure out why I was having trouble getting re-dressed WTF ?!? If this phone wasn't so big stuck in the back pocket it would have taken a dive. The one thing I had difficulty with is, ironically, the camera. One should be adept at digital shooting to capture low light photos and have the patience to learn how to work the camera ( as well as everything else) on this almost- perfect, higher-end, phone. Note to iPhone Worshipers: Being that Android is against all principals of your universe you'll probably hate it but you should at least take a look at it,,,you may be pleasantly surprised.

It works but is tempermental & logs me out for no reason. Logging in is time consuming trying to remember the login information & metimes the system doesn't recognize me. If you can't remember there is no help unless you call an 800 number and pray you get a rep who can help expiditiously . Wifi is not an option so it's a step up from that . DO buy the top up card DO NOT buy mg's w/very limited time constraints.
What's great about it: It works
What's not so great: It's a pain in the neck to actually get on line with all the security I have to pass to use my private modem and top up
I would recommend this to a friend!

HOW MANY MGS for $20

works fine, setup is easy but I've tried since 3/21/10 to add mgs. to my original top up card from VM's site and it's literally impossible even tho they have an area dedicated to purchase in two places.
Naturally, Best Buy doesn't list how many mgs. $20 purchases
It's so frustrating to deal with VM I wouldn't bother if I hadn't jus shelled out $99 for the ubs device. It's unfortunate bc other wise I would recommendthe product

What's great about it: easy to set up
What's not so great: impossible to add mgs from VM's site regardless of what is stated
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased broadband2go and this top up card only to find out they don't accept $20.00 plans anymore. Why are the retailers still selling them? I plan to return both tomorrow.

Agreed, very frustrating. Even worse? Virgin Mobile Broadband site continues to show it as an option if you try to reload it thru their website. Jump thru the usual hoops to find what you found here at Best Buy, which had it not been for your review, I'd also be trying to purchase.

As soon as the 1 yr. plan to own the modem (warantee ? I'm still not clear what I'll need to pay for after my 1 year) to own the modem is up, I'm ditching it. It's too slow, encumbersome, and now top up cards are too expensive for what you get.

you will lost your minutes with text even if you do not open them something that i did not know its 1 minute for incoming text and the same one less you put a picture in it ..it will be more 8 gigs is not a lot ,i would think they would give more then that but there is none on less you pay 500 for the phone

Overall my wife likes her range. The cook top heats up very quickly, and the glass top are easy to clean (with the right chemicals). The only thing that bugs my wife is the oven. With the induction system, she cannot get the top to go on broil only to give her bake goods a nice brown top. She tried using the oven broil but it didn't give her the light brown on the top like she wants. The broil system just heats everything (and you'll end up with over cooking).

My phone was just over a month old and failed. It went dark when charging and would not power back on. Being just out side the return policy by a few days I was instructed to return the unit to Huawei. Well it's been a month and no phone, no update and just excuses. Agents accusing other agents of supplying me with false information and pointing blame at the service center. I would caution anyone as I've been told the service center is being "overwhelmed" with Mate9 customers like me to avoid this device at this time.

Ut oh, have you gotten resolution to your problems or have they sent a replacement phone ? It made me uncomfortable to read the patented, robo-response to your post, advising the next steps you should take when you outlined the steps you've taken which are identical. I have a few more days to decide if I will keep mine or not. The issue I'm struggling with, or that which has me most spooked, is the customer service aspect, or lack-thereof. Poor customer service has been the biggest, most repetitive complaint in the negative reviews.

People who say that other reviews about this subject are wrong are clearly not educated about the issue. we are talking about the UNLOCKED VERSION.
The problem is that they have consistently updated the s7 & s7 edge late. Android 7.0 Nougat just got pushed out, IN MAY!!! While other carrier locked phones got Nougat them several month in advance as early as December.
I am a person who travels and I always buy the latest phone UNLOCKED whether its Apple or Samsung. I switched from iPhone to Samsung with the s7 Edge, but because of the update issue I am looking for another reliable brand. NEVER SAMSUNG AGAIN

I bought an Huawei Mate 9, unlocked , US Version, in April (Amazon has a great 30 day Return policy, no fees) which came with with Nugget 7. Within 2 weeks I received 2 updates. Why would Samsung be any different ? The *only* reason I'm returning the Mate 9 :-( is because: no water/dust/rain/snow/humidity resistance - the cost increase just to protect phone from *me* (glass cover, cases & waterproof.bags) due to constant dropping, tripping, falling and photograph my dog outside wd. make the phone as expensive as the other Flagships. Also, in the end the increase in size with all that protective gear would turn it into a laptop sized phone to lug around. All the other phones were out of price range for me and I shunned the Samsung 8 bc of reviews like yours-- until tonight- when I found a reasonably priced open box which I realized is *not* a used phone. The price difference w/extra ta$ betwn. Sam 8 & Mate 9 is only $50. So, w/regard to your update issues, I'm thinking that u purchased u'r Sam 8 elsewhere & got the Internatl. version and not the US/N.American model.

I've wanted H.Mate9 prior to Best Buy's reps knowing. how it functnd. However, not water resistance cd. be. an issue. I've also read complaints @ other sites re:Customer Service not so great, not sure if it's a US or only Intrnl. model issue. Comments ?
Customer service, at least directly from Huawei site in Chat , was very helpful, the Mexico group was fantastic.

Is it possible to have a monthly payment plan for this unlocked Mate 9 instead of having to pay full price for it?
You can get a BB store credit card and finance it that way ---if BB will allow you . It's based upon your credit rating etc. I can't believe they never answered any of these questions. How rude !!
