I like it except...

I bought an alienware 17 r3 and got the plan for it. It broke and I returned the laptop to the store. They sent it out and a couple of days later they called and said that they could not fix the laptop. Because they no longer have that model they said that they would offer me 1400 dollars for the laptop. I paid 1650 for it. When I asked why I was getting a lower amount they said that it's because they offer current market value. I just don't think this is how it should work. I know it probably says it in the fine print that I didn't read but I think you should get the full price for it.

First they look great. Second they are super comfortable. Controls make it easy to adjust things like chat/game mix and overall volume etc.
Bad things:
The mic is filmsy and takes some work to make it stay in place. The end of the mic is really large. When you mute the mic it has a red light that is really bright. The Razer Kraken 7.1 v2 mic is far better in all those aspects.
The 7.1 DTS surround sound makes the headphones sound really hollow or its like the sound is very distant. There's no punch or life to the sound. On top of that with DTS the sound is very bright or tinny. So that along was enough for me. I got these to play Rainbow Six Siege but I'll just stick to the Razer Kraken 7.1 v2. The only thing I can say bad about the Kraken is that it's corded.
Really disappointed lots of reviews say that this is a great headphone with great sound quality. It's is subjective but I just didn't like them one bit. But they do look nice.

Lasted 4 Months

Reviewed these initially under a different name. They broke after four months of use. Normal use never dropped them. The inside of the headband where it attaches to the left earcup broke. Then there was something rattling inside. Took them back. Got a new pair which had a really loud static sound that came out of the left earcup. Took it back and got some Bose Quiet comfort 25. They're not wireless, my fault. Took them back and asked BB if I could get something else and they said sure. Got some Senn M2 Wireless. BB was great throughout.

I got both the reg 700 and the Elite 700s during a flash sale so I got a really good price. I got the Elites for 200. If you can find them for that then I think they are really good. I wouldn't pay 300 for them though.
To me these fit differently than the reg 700s. The cups don't come down as far as the reg 700's. The openings seem smaller as well. Just go to Best Buy and try both of them for yourself.
I have done a critical listening comparison with the reg 700 vs the Elite 700s. But just casually listening between the two I really can't tell the difference between the two. The active noise cancellation def makes the headphones plays softer. Turn it off with the app and it plays louder. The app really sucks by the way.
These are bulkier looking on your head than the Beats if you care about that. Can't say they are better than Beats or Bose. Sound quality is very subjective. Just try them all and see which one sounds better to you with music you like to listen to.
I just bought these because they were 100 dollars off. I certainly didn't need to buy two headphones but oh well.

These are the first Bluetooth headphones that I have owned.
These headphones are really comfortable to me. I wore them for several hours and they were not a problem. They definitely fit snug but don't press too hard for me. They fit different than the JBL Everest Elite 700 (I bought both# and feel better than the Elite 700s. Like most headphones if you're doing something active then your ears will heat up. The best thing to do is to go try them on at Best Buy and wear them for at least 30 minutes.
Bluetooth pairing is not a problem at all. They do a good job of automatically pairing #after initial pairing# with my Samsung Galaxy S5 when I turn them on.
Looks. They look good if you care about that. They are not as slim looking, on your head, as Beats are.
Sound quality. So very subjective. I'm not a trained audiophile but sound quality does matter to me which is why I choose these instead of Beats. Beats definitely have a more bass heavy lively sound. That's not a bad thing if that's how you like your music to sound. These sound more neutral to me. I didn't listen to any Bose headphones.
The bass is a bit more boomy than my Audiotechnica M50s #wired). And the highs are not as detailed. The M50's sound more open. More like you're not wearing headphones compared to the JBL's. The JBL's are more in your ear.
I don't know if I would pay 200 for these but 160 is fair. Honesty can't tell much of a difference between these and the Elite 700's. I got the Elites for 200 so it's all good. I need to listen more to them.
I don't know what that one person is talking about in terms of noise cancellation being a problem with these headphones. The regular 700's don't have active noise cancellation. The Elite 700's do. They do however do a good job of passively blocking out outside noise do to the fit of the ear pads.

Just not comfortable to wear

The packaging and the build is really nice. The sound is good as far as I can tell. But they are really uncomfortable to wear. Took them off after about 30 minutes of playing Rainbow Six Siege. Went back to the PS4 Gold headset. Way better. So I didn't realize that surround sound doesn't work on console. Should have done better research on them. I'll stick to the Gold headset and hopefully they will let me take this back. Probably get the Astro A40 if they do let me return. But they are just not comfortable to wear if you got a big head and I do.

4K for 1700
on October 16, 2015

Initial Impression: For the price its hard to find a 4K matte screen, 10 key and a GTX 970m laptop. The screen is great. No dead or stuck pixels. The keyboard feels good. Not mechanical but it feels a lot better than the other laptop keyboards out there. It does have Bluetooth which is not mentioned on the product page. It's big but not as bulky looking as the Asus ROG laptops.
Haven't tried playing any games on it yet. Note that the GTX 970m is the 3g version not the 6g version that other pc guys use like Maingear or Origin. So if you are a hardcore pc gamer that might matter. But this is mostly for school (overkill).
Only concern so far is that it went to sleep and didn't wake up. So I had to hold down the power and then turn it back on.
Windows 10 makes you input a password or a pin every time you start up. Do a internet search and you can see how to turn this off. Also the numlock is always off when you startup. That's Windows 10 issue and not the laptop. Haven't figured out how to fix that.
There's not too much bloat in this thing. Some of the things though you can't delete like the xbox app.
So I'll update this later as time goes by. Got a great financing deal with it.

Much better than the old hand me down vac I was using. Feels solid. Got it for a really good price. BB matched Amazon. No problem. The only thing that seems like it will break in the future is the lever that adjusts the height. It picks up pet hair really good which is what I was looking for most in a new vac.

The W key is wobbly and gets stuck if you press it really hard. It doesn't affect typing in Word or anything else but its annoying (OCD). Don't know if its worth taking back and seeing if Best Buy can fix or replace.
Also tried Company of Heroes. I know it's old but it has a performance test. Set resolution to 1080 and max everything. Average 42 FPS with the min being 31 FPS and max 52.

All good now.
October 18, 2015
So the first one had a broken key, Bluetooth wouldn't turn on, wifi would just turn off randomly and if the screen turned off then it wouldn't come back on. Under the settings system > power and sleep there is an option for the screen to turn off by itself after a stated period of time. The time was set shorter than the time for it to go to sleep. If the screen ends up turning off then it doesn't come back on unless you hold down the power button and then turn it back on. Contacted Alienware and they flashed the BIOS for me and said that would fix the issue. I didn't really trust that so I just set the turn off screen function to never. Any who when it goes to sleep now it wakes back up fast and with no problem. If you are really interested in new a 17" gaming laptop then I would wait a little longer and see what the prices are for the new Asus ROG refreshes. I don't think any of them have a 4K screen though. Now that this laptop is working though I am really happy with it. I am not too impressed with the gaming performance though.

Bluetooth one day bluetooth gone the next.
October 18, 2015
This is strange. It says on the webpage that this laptop does not have Bluetooth. When I got it though there is a section within the settings for Bluetooth. I hooked up a Logitech MX Master mouse to and it work. I was using the mouse and then all of a sudden it didn't work. Looked at the bottom of the mouse and it was flashing, looking for a connection. I go back to the settings and click on the devices (Bluetooth, printers, mouse) and the Bluetooth tab is gone. Strange.

By solat152
Its great. Setup was easy. I have a 1070 in it right now. The 1070 will play just about anything at 1080p with ultra settings. Don't use the amp as a docking station or you will hinder performance in games. Looking at youtube videos you can expect to attain about 70 to 85 percent of the cards power. Still its better than the 970m or 980m. The locking mechanism is really bad though. Hard to open and when you do it makes a sound like you broke it.

Does not work with external monitor
By BAPROV
This laptop does not work with an external monitor when the lid is closed. The lower right hand tool bar continually updates and the laptop processing slows down after an hour needing rebooted. I tried with multiple monitors and HDMI cables to the same result. HP's response - purchase an HP monitor to resolve compatibility issues.

Pretty sure you need two. The regular versions of the Everest headphones have this feature. The Elite versions don't which I think is strange.
