Awesome & Compact

I bought this receiver to replace my 8 yr old Onkyo TX SR805 THX receiver. It was on verge of extinction, it wouldn't no longer recognize input signals until 5 mins later, surround settings were eardrum piercing distortions and so on. I didn't want to spend money on shipping and repairs, so a new receiver was needed for a low-budget audiophile. I was skeptical of this receiver at first because of the power 50 watts per channel compared to the robust 130 watts per channel on the Onkyo. Anywho I am happy that I followed my gut feeling and purchased it. At first I considered new speakers, but with the wife limit button in place I vouched for the receiver. After hooking it up to my Def Tech 3.1 set-up (Pro Cinema 600) FL / C /FR, line level to Supercube I, I couldn't believe the nuance of my small system. The new depth from my tiny footprint speakers were beyond words and put out sound according to what you read about at the Def Tech website. Wow! I Highly recommend this AV Receiver!

Great Pair of Speakers

I acquired these speakers after selling my Def Tech BP7004 for the sake of space. I have had these speakers now about 4 months and they truely amazed me. I wasn't to sure what to anticipate with smaller satalite speakers because I'm accustomed to towers. The setup is a 2.1 configuration: 2 ProCinema 600 L/R Fronts and a Def Tech SuperCube 1 subwoofer. The SuperCube 1 have been the pride and joy of all my prior setups. At 1500 watts nothing really can compete with the accuracy. A/V receiver is an Onkyo TX SR805 @ 130 watts per channel. I admit I lost some depth in the midrange moving from towers, but I didn't loose enough that would make me go back to my towers. I use them mostly for music, and for this purpose I have them wired through the SuperCube 1. Wiring through the sub gave them more body and a thicker soundstage. The highs are crystal clear and they can handle anything that I throw at them. I've been thru multiple other satalites that went to Craigslist not long after purchase. These little gems are marvels and the sound is incredible. They do have to be broken in. Before the breaki-in they appeared rather echy, but smooth out after the 40 hours subsided. They are great for movies, I sampled them with the "Pod Race" for Star Wars Episode I and they handle the grunts and roars of the pods flawless, I was so immersed that I didn't realize that my towers were missing. Really great speakers. You would definately want to upgrade the sub on this speaker system if anything. Nothing is better than a SuperCube at 1500 watts that can keep up with the smaller drivers accuracy.
What's great about it: Acceptional Sound
What's not so great: Mids
