Luvnewgear's Reviews

Add deep, low-frequency bass impact to your movies and music with Polk's PSW108. This subwoofer is powered by a high-current amplifier producing 50 watts RMS/100 watts clean, dynamic power for loud bass and a wide dynamic range necessary to recreate a life-like home theater experience. Features front-firing 10" composite polymer cone driver that adds depth to your audio tracks and provides more bass impact for your sound system. The cabinet is constructed from non-resonant MDF with internal bracing for superior bass clarity and accuracy. Features flexible inputs and controls like power-saver on/auto switch, independent volume control and a toggle phase switch on the back panel for a cohesive unit. Place the subwoofer on the same side of the room as your system's front speakers for the best performance

Bang for the buck!

My system consists of a Denon X4000 avr, B&W 683 S2 mains, B&W HTM61 S2 center channel, and 6.5" in ceiling rear speakers. I originally bought the matching $650 B&W ASW610 10" sealed subwoofer to fill in the low end, but was unsatisfied. The B&W subwoofer was very tight and clean for music, but lacked in overall output for movies. I didn't want to spend any more money on an additional matching B&W subwoofer, so I figured I'd now try 2 less expensive 10" ported subwoofers instead for increased output. After reading many great reviews for this $200 Polk Audio PSW108, I exchanged the B&W for 2 of them. They are not quite as tight and detailed as the B&W for music, however they make up for it with much more power and impact for movies. With 2 subs vs 1 I also get much more uniform bass response throughout my listening area. I am more than satisfied!

Great audiophile headphones!

I have been collecting headphones for about 10 years due to a heavy travel schedule at work. I prefer over the ear headphones for comfort and sound isolation. I've probably owned 15 different pairs of headphones in the $150-$500 range. These are so far my absolute favorite. They are supremely comfortable and have great sound quality. The bass is tight and strong and the midrange and treble are very balanced and detailed. They fit nicely over my ears and do a wonderful job at drowning away the outside noise. If you are an audiophile and need a good set of closed cans, I think you will be very satisfied with these AKG K545's!

Very musical speakers

I bought these for a 2 channel setup in a secondary room powered by an older Denon 3808 AVR. My main theater room has Klipsch reference speakers in a 5.1 setup. (RF-82 mains, RC-52 center, 8" in-ceiling speakers for surrounds, and a Denon X4000 AVR. I bought these B&W's for mostly music listening, but also for watching tv and movies when my wife is in the main room. I actually demoed several different pairs of speakers from different brands in my home before deciding to keep these amazing B&W's. With music listening as my main objective, they handily beat out the Martin Logan Motion 40's, and the Polk Audio TSX 330t's. I intentionally tested speakers from different price brackets, and listened to everything in the Magnolia room under $2000 a pair. The B&W's were the smoothest, most balanced, and most detailed of all that I tried, even better than my own Klipsch.
What's great about it: Balanced and detailed sound
What's not so great: Speaker grill covers not very sturdy

Shocked at the quality for only $89.99!

I tried out several small 8" subwoofers before settling on this Yamaha. I'm pairing it up with some Definitive Technology studio monitor 55's, and running them off a Denon AVR-X2000 receiver. I first tried out the polk audio psw-111, and then the Definitive Technology pro sub 800. There's not much difference between these three subwoofers, except the PRICE! This Yamaha is great for music and movies and fills in the low end very well. The polk was $299.99 and the Def Tech was $399.99. This Yamaha was only $89.99. It provides comparable sound quality for only a fraction of the cost. If you are looking for a good quality small sub for a small to medium sized room, you can't go wrong with this Yamaha.

Great job Sony!

Most Important to Purchase:Sound quality

After several solid years of use my $100 Shure earbuds stopped working properly. I immediately started researching online for a replacement pair and decided on the Klipsch s4's. I headed to the local Best Buy and picked up a pair for $80. I went straight home to audition them and was a bit disappointed. They seemed a bit flimsy and the sound quality was lacking. The bass was deep and solid, but the mid range left the vocals underrepresented, and the highs were harsh and fatiguing. I proceeded to break them in by continuously playing music through them for 72 hours to give them a chance to grow on me. This helped slightly, but I still felt the mid range kept the vocals overly subdued and the highs were still a bit edgy. I decided to return to Best Buy and exchange them for the Sony MDR-EX310LP's. Once again I headed straight home to give them a try and WOW did these babies surprise me!! The bass was similarly deep and solid like the Klipsch but everything else was much better! The mid range was smoothe and warm and brought out vocals beautifully. The highs were crisp, clean, and precise. For $80 I think these are a great value and the best sub $100 earbuds I have heard. Way to go Sony!
What's great about it: Sound quality, comfort, value!
What's not so great: No complaints so far!

What are some good computer speakers?

I have an HP computer that I would like to buy speakers for with nice deep bass. I'm looking for something under $200. I would like to be able to connect the speakers to my mp3 player as well.
