like polaroid film but smaller

I buy this for an aunt who is a technophobe. It does exactly what it says it does. Best buy usually has good prices and availability. The inserts are smaller than you might hope.
The product itself is fine but the camera they go in eats batteries and can't take close ups as detailed as we'd like. That said, its what my aunt is comfortable with. She still gets a bit initmidated every time she has to swap the film, but has done it often enough now that she has the hang of it. so while I don't think its great, it does do what it says it does and it gives her the nearest she could get to using her old polaroid camera, that we could figure at the time we bought the camera

looks better than the packaging in real life

the marshmallow figure looks more adorable in front of me than on the computer screen or the packaging. The terror dog model is very impressive given how small the bricks are it is made out of.
I got stuck at step 4 trying to figure out how to do what it said but eventually realized there was only one day to do what the picture said to do to build the model. There are 2 rebuilds you can download the instructions for but I haven't tried to build them yet. The design was very impressive for the model I did build. The set comes with a few spares for the smaller bricks. It was better more impressive and more fun than I expected for under a fiver - the price at the time I ordered it with the gamer discount

the tina figure is quick and easy to put together.
the brutal bloom or green and blue thing - well I put it together following the instructions I downloaded from lego website because the included instruction booklet is pretty useless and learned you could do things with lego I didn't know you could do if you use the right combination of included bricks but I haven't watched the film so the characters don't mean anything to me and as such this might not have been a good choice to buy. The model uses spiky lime green arm like appendages which you might want to be careful of around kids.
I'm really ambivalent about recommending this set. Its clever use of lego. It does what it says but I'd buy most of the other sets before this one from a fun point of view

I downloaded the instructions for these based on this set from the lego web site - they were not included in the box. the box instruction booklet was pretty useless other than as an inventory of what bricks were in the set. I am not commenting on the computer part of this game just the lego. It's likely well worth msrp. but without the instructions this is another set I ended up dropping pieces and getting stuck on. It is fine once you have instructions to follow. I guess I got better at building lego models by using this set and did eventually get the train built.. and the car. I'm sure it shouldn't have taken me so long though.

I am only going to comment on the lego aspect not the computer -
I tried to build these without the instructions. The included booklet was useless. I didn't realize I could get the instructions from the lego web site and tried to build based on the pictures on the box which did not go well. I ended up with bricks stuck together and dropping bits and generally making a mess. Anyway. Once I downloaded the instructions I got on a lot better. I still managed to put bricks in the wrong place ending up with bricks stuck together but that said, they did some really neat use of bricks in building these models and I am very impressed At MSRP I don't think I'd buy this one again, but if you are a fan go ahead. There were quite a few models and rebuilds so its not bad value even at full msrp. It is just that other sets are higher in my recommend list

so I am ignoring the computer aspect of this and just looking at the lego.
I had to download the instructions from the lego website - each model and rebuild individually downloaded so I got a lot of value out of the bricks. First time round I just downloaded the included booklet which is just as useless as a pdf as it is on paper - but the other sets of instructions are far more useful. I loved learning about what I could do with the different bricks and wondering why they had you put bricks together in a certain way - and then seeing things tilt or rotate. Things I likely wouldn't have figured out on my own. You don't get many bricks but it is a very nice set. possibly even worth paying full price for. I'd consider buying another one if they even had it in store to give as a gift.
