How is this powered?
I read through specs and several reviews, but I can't discern how it gets power. Does it have a battery/rechargeable? Does it have to be connected to a power source via usb? I want to know how "portable" it is... thanks!
a battery rechargeable, just plug in to a usb port and will charge. I use mine for short periods while I transfer videos or pictures from the iPhone to the usb like 10 - 20 mins then I turn it off, probably two hours or so I've been doing this procedure.

Can you also wirelessly transfer files from the drive to an iPad?
To an iPhone 6S Plus is Ok, but sending large files (1 GB) to an iPad Air 2 I have trouble.

It says it can transfer data through wi-fi, but what if you just want to plug it in the computer and want it to pop up like a regular flash drive, would that work?
Yes, it works like a regular USB memory on Windows 10, but doesn't work on Mac Sierra.
