I read a lot fo the reviews about this item before I bought it. And, to be honest up front, I was buying it for it's "Cool!" factor. And that is definitely 5 stars! The speaker quality probably is really about 3 stars. It wasn't too bad, but I have bought $39.99 speakers that were every bit as good. But none of them levitated like this Death Star!
It does take some time to get it floating. The magets are quite strong and it has to be exactly in the right spot to levitate. Otherwise, it just "jumps out of orbit" and crashes into the base. It does come with a plastic guide to help you get it in place. And once you have it figured out, it isn't too bad.
The speaker itself is made out of plastic, but it seems pretty durable. The sound is not great, but not bad. But if you are buying this for a Star Wars fan, it will be appreciated!

Compact, Light Weight, Solid Performance

To begin with, the only reason why this laptop didn't get 5 stars is because of the keyboard. But more on that later.
I had been trying to get my 5 year old laptop to survive another year as I really didn't have the money to buy another one. However, after one too many "blue screens of death", I realized it was time. I first started looking at what was on sale (I'm poor!!) and decided to go with an ASUS Q504 model. I really like ASUS and was happy with my decision. I ordered it on Saturday and then found this Lenovo Yoga 710 on sale on Sunday.
I really like having a solid state drive as it makes the boot up process MUCH faster. I decided to return the other one and buy the Lenovo. I wasn't sure about Lenovo as some time ago, my office had to return about 75% of our Lenovo laptops due to defects. However, so far, this one does not disappoint.
The start up time is FAST. I like being able to turn it on, and then start working within 20 seconds. The power button is a bit hard to find at first (right hand side) but it's not an issue. You don't ever touch it by mistake when opening the screen.
Speaking of the screen, it s GREAT! Super clear and great colors. I think that is one of the reasons why I chose this over the ASUS Q504. The screen on the ASUS is just not as crisp as the Lenovo screen.
There are a couple of USB ports and a mini HDMI. I wish it had a regular HDMI as I hate having to buy another adaptor, but it is what it is. There is no USB C on this one, so if that is a must, look elsewhere. The body is aluminum and has a very solid feel to it. It just feels like a high end laptop (which for $750 on sale, it is!).
So far, it has been VERY responsive. The i5 processor combined with a SSD and 8 GB of RAM has kept it running great. I haven't seen any lag time for normal use, and I usually have up to 3 to 4 programs going at once. You can expand the RAM, I just personally haven't seen the need to.
The only issue is that doggone keyboard! Others have commented on it and it is all true. I can see what Lenovo has done which is make the same keyboard for the Yoga line. However, cutting the shift key on the right hand side makes for a LOT of errors. You really have to think about that shift key to hit it. If this is going to be your only computer, you'll get used to it. I jump back and forth between this and a Surface Book, and I always wind up hitting the up arrow instead of the shift key for the first few times.
But, I personally didn't find the keyboard to be a deal breaker. Would I prefer that they change it? If course! But, for a light weight computer with solid performance (fast), a great screen and a solid feel, this Lenovo does great.

I was asked to purchase a dvd or bluray player for our training room at work. I bought this player "blind"; i.e., read no reviews and didn't check with anyone. It was a good move! Got this back to the office and set it up. The menus are easy to follow and it is packed with features. We had just upgraded all of our audio/visual equipment and were using another product to stream images wirelessly to through a projector. I wish we had saved our money and just used this player. We were able to stream video and audio through this player seamlessly. It was very easy to use and even our most "computarded" employee can use it. Great product. We will be buying a second one for another room.

Good keyboard/case combo

I recently did a review on the Samsung S2, which I bought this case for. While I was looking at the S2, a salesperson showed me this case/keyboard combo. The price did shock me, so to be frank, if you are only looking for a basic keyboard and case, then this product probably isn't for you. It costs more than some entry level tablets!
But, it does have some features that, when combined with the S2, make for a great product. First off, there is the track pad. When using a tablet for productivity reasons, such as word processing or an excel sheet, I have always hated having to touch the screen which takes my hands off of the keyboard. The track pad basically adds mouse capability to the android platform. I don't use it all the time, but when I want it, it's nice to have.
It is also very easy to connect and then re-connect. You can connect this up to two devices, and then reconnect with the push of a button. There are two Bluetooth buttons on the keyboard, and depending on which one you pushed to initially sync the device, you can then simply push that same button later on to re-connect. Quick and easy. Battery life has so far been great. I charged it up 2 weeks ago, and haven't had to charge it since with basic normal use.
The keyboard can be quickly detached from the cover as it is held magnetically. When I want to start using the tablet as more entertainment (reading, watching movies, etc), I like being able to remove the keyboard and thus reducing the weight of the cover. This cover/keyboard combo weighs quite a bit more than the S2 tablet does, so I like being able to reduce the weight.
The one downside, other than price, is attaching the S2 tablet to the cover/keyboard case. There are two set points on the case that fit into two corresponding holes on the back of the S2 tablet. They fit VERY snug, requiring you to push quite hard on the tablet to get them to go in. Make sure that they are aligned or you will scratch the tablet or cause other damage. It was definitely more pressure than I was comfortable with initially. But, I have removed the tablet from the case a couple of times and so far, no breaking. But, it still isn't something that I plan on doing a lot.
So, overall, if you are willing to pay a bit more for a case/keyboard combo that provides real functionability, then this is the case for you.

I have been looking at tablets for some time now, and I have purchased a couple of Samsung tablets in that time. I have bought a Samsung Tab E and a Samsung Tab A. Both are good tablets, but they don't stand up to the S2. Here is a quick breakdown of the pros and cons that I have found.
Pros - Light, very light
- Fast and smooth
- Great screen (very clear, much better than Tab A and Tab E)
- Has some great accessories (Samsung keyboard case combo)
- Decent battery
- Very reliable

Overall, I have really enjoyed this tablet. It is very light, yet it has a great screen and the battery life isn't that bad. There is a battery savings option that has helped extend the battery life. I usually don't spend all day watching videos or anything like that, and with my normal usage, I can usually get five days or so before I have to re-charge it.
The only downside is the cost, but when you compare it with an iPad, it isn't that much at all. Overall, if you are looking for a tablet that can do a lot, is pretty smooth in operation and are willing to pay a bit more, than this is a great tablet.

When I bought the Xbox One for the family, we wanted a family game. There are plenty of games for the kids to play, but I wanted to have some fun together. We got this bundle because, well, you gotta have the drums! I would definitely recommend getting the pro drum add-on (cymbals) as well. With the guitar, drums and microphone, we have a ton of fun as a family. And, I found out that I can buy extra songs from the Rockband library. $2.14 per song makes it so I can add on some of my favorites. There are some good songs on this one, but the library has so many more.

I bought an Xbox One for my family to play Rockband on and then we wound up buying other games. My kids wanted to be able to game with their brother who lives several states away. I bought two pairs of these because, well, the price was right. After dumping as much as I did on the Xbox One, I didn't have a lot left over! I bought these headphones for my daughter after her other Skullcandy ones (wired) developed a problem. I was working with Skullcandy to get them fixed but she wanted something less bulky. I saw these headphones and having had some good sound come out of the other Skullcandy headhpones, thought that I would give these a try. At first, she didn't think she would like the on-ear feel, but she has since told me that because these are so light, it doesn't really bother her. They were very easy to connect and the sound quality is fairly good. Look, let's be honest, these aren't the same as a $250.00 pair of headphones. If you are looking for that kind of sound quality, then don't buy these. But if you are looking for something lightweight with good sound quality that doesn't break the bank, then these fit the bill. As far as the battery lasting, she listens to these ALL the time. She has never complained yet.

Solid system, easy to use, nice touchscreen

I went in to my local Best Buy to buy a camcorder and quickly realized that handheld camcorders are a dying breed! There were four options to choose from. That being said, this was a good buy. I compared the Canon with a Sony model. I liked the lense of the Sony better, but truth be told, the Sony felt like a kid's toy. It was made almost entirely out of plastic and I just didn't like the feel of it at all. The Canon model also has a lot of plastic, but it felt more solid. I liked the touchscreen on it. It is simple to operate as well; just open the screen on the side, make sure the lense covers are open and press record!
The setup is also very easy. You can go in and choose a couple of different recording formats, with the options you have being the most common formats. I set this one up for mp4 and it was worked great. The slot for the SD card is easily accessible and I have been able to switch out SD cards quickly and without any issues.
The recording quality is good, but not great. I think this is where the Sony would do a bit better But, it was just fine for what I needed. You can record in HD, but I think the colors aren't quite as vibrant as other brands. The main reason why I bought this camcorder though was for some basic recording and to be used by different employees. For that reason, ease of operation was very important to me.
All in all, this is a solid, easy to use camcorder. I haven't had one employee yet who couldn't pick it up and begin recording with no issues. If you are looking for something that is easy to set up, easy to operate and still have a pretty good picture, then this is a good buy.

is this good for video editing?
Mike, that totally depends on the video editing software you plan on using. I use Sony Vegas software, and so far not a problem. If you are using the average video editing software you will be fine. If you plan on going professional grade, then I would suggest a bit more RAM and an i7 processor. But for the average video editor, this one has plenty of computing power.
