Recording?
Where are the recordings stored? Do I need additional equipment to record? How long of a recording will I get?
With this alone, you can only view with the app. Not record. A separate unit is needed called an NVR. Preferably the one from D-link. It works the easiest.

Hard drive setup
The Seagate Backup Plus Fast 4TB stacks a pair of 2.5" mechanical drives (2TB each) inside a metal enclosure. Would that still be considered just one hard drive?
As long as they can connect to the NVR through one single USB cable, then it will count as 1 unit.

is the camera visible to the intruder e.g. does it have any type of light on it
it has a low red glow from the inferred lights on the front and an indicator light on the back that isnt too bright but could be covered up easily.

Different viewing options?
How do I view what this camera records? I've seen a few answers to similar questions that you can watch the footage in real time from a smartphone app. Is that app a one-time purchase or a service you'd need to pay for monthly? I understand the camera itself doesn't store recordings (like, there's no memory card inside it). The D-Link website offers a service for this? How does that work? Do I log into my website account when i get home and get to view the footage from the day? Do you have to pay for a subscription to the footage storage and viewing capabilities on the site? Is there anything else you have to do? If the camera is tampered with, is the footage still backed up on the site for me to access (prior to the camera being shut off/destroyed by the intruder, that is)? Does it continuously record so you select a time frame of the day to view the footage from a particular window, or does it only show the times during the footage that motion was detected? Sorry this is long.
you can set it up to record to your PC computer by downloading a program on their website. you cannot set it up to record on your phone. you only need to pay for the camera, nothing else. if you have a mac I believe there is a way to set it up to record, you would just have to call their customer service.

How is this camera mounted, by the pictures it looks as though it just stands up on it's flat surface is this correct?
I am wanting to mount this camera in an out of the way place, how can I mount this camera? is it only able to stand upright?
