Good mechanical keyboard but there's no setting to have all of the keys back lit at a low setting. The backlighting is a left to right scrolling action and the only control is to vary the brightness - you cannot stop the scrolling action and it is annoying and I question that it would be useful to anyone.

Very useful accessory

I have used battery grips on all 5 Canon camera's I have had since the 10D and it is one of the most useful accessories you can get. It makes holding the camera much easier as there is a lot more area to hold on to. This latest grip has even more of the controls duplicated from the main camera body which helps when using the camera 90 degrees from the normal position. My only issue is that every time they come out with a new model you have to buy a new grip because the old one is not compatible but that is due to changes in body and feature design - it's a tough thing to accept due to the cost of the grip but if you can get past the price you will be happy with it. Look for it on sale to ease the pain. I wouldn't go without it though, battery life is much longer with 2 batteries. I never use the internal flash so I get a lot of time between charges on the batteries. It has an adapter so you can use AA batteries if you need to.

Great camera with many features from the 1Dx

I waited a few years since buying my Canon 40D to upgrade and decided to go with the 7D over the 5D because of the high speed shutter rate and a few other features - I believe the 7D has newer DIGIC processors than the 5D at the thime of this writing. If you can get this when on sale it's a real value. AF has 65 focus points so that has been the biggest change to get used to. It's a much more advanced AF system than was in the 40D and takes a bit of adjusting to get used to. Other than that it's a great camera you just need to spend some time with the online manual to be sure you fully understand all of the menu items and how they affect the images. You don't necessarily want to go with the defaults in every case.

Don't be tempted to buy 3rd party batteries as they have a tendency to explode. These are OEM DJI batteries and are a good deal when you catch them on sale. Remember not to store these batteries with more than a 50% charge per DJI.

what kind of cable
I bought my daughter a blueray player, but the HD tv I'm hooking it to is old and does not have an HDMI port. Can I get an adapter to hook it up with an HDMI cable
If the TV is old enough not to support HDMI then it is unlikely to have the resolution to support Blueray. You will not see the improved quality offered by Blueray on a TV that only supports lower resolutions. You can still watch the DVD but it will be at HD resolution or lower depending on the resolution of the TV.

If I use a vga to vga cable to connect this monitor to my laptop, will I lose the hd picture quality?
Laptop had vga output. Monitor appears to accept vga or hdmi.
VGA does not support HD resolutions.
