It was between this and the Bose QC35 the tie breaker is these go $100 cheaper both have their pros and cons. The Beats Studio has superior bass to the Bose and the Bose just can't handle the base of electronic and hip hop music. The Bose has superior noise cancelling the Beats can't compete and is merely a gimmick attempt at noise cancelling in comparison. But its $100 cheaper and sounds better in the type of music I often listen too but if you are getting headphones to block out the world around you the Bose might be a better bet but you might be disappointed in the sound which biased Bose fanboys won't admit to.

Bose was the former standard for home entertainment was Bose but his renew of an already solid Sonos 5 play is even better and blows the Soundtouch out of the water this is the only model of the play series that has an audio jack so is you want to attach and Airport Express to give you native Airport Airplay then this is the only model you choose and was the deal breaker for me.
Don't ge me wrong the Sonos app is really good but for search functionality nothing is going to beat a native app. Bose sound touch series no longer has Airplay so that kind of soured me on Bose again. The Bass on this is just fantastic and you can crank this up to neighbor hating levels and it won't distort at all unlike the Bose which does distort at high levels. With Bose you have to rely on Bluetooth a lot if you use Apple music which kind of defeats the purpose of a hifi speaker in this price range.

Sony still hasn't figured out surround sound

I put these as rear speakers with my Sony sound bar and it must have put out 25 percent of what the sound bar put out. Disappointed that you have to spring for the very expensive systems like Sonos and Bose to get surround sound done properly but you have to pay a premium to get it done right. I returned this after the failed experiment.

Hey I am a bass head and like music with deep bass so this speaker that plays clean and crisp and is perfectly adequate for music like rock and jazz this would be just fine but if you like Electronic music this just won't cut it. I returned this and for a hundred dollars more opted but the great bass of the Sonos 5. Sure its more money but if you want a compact speaker with great bass you spring for it and won't be satisfied with this.

Has good bass and a very loud volume with a balanced sound. Note this is for smaller tv's and to be placed under a tv 40 and under. If you are looking for great bass that would require a system with a separate subwoofer but those systems take a lot more room this is for a situation when minimal room is wanted a nice compact system it is with good sound for a banging system with deep bass look elsewhere but for the price and space requirements you can't beat this.
