Verified Purchase:Yes
First turntable arrived DOA. It would not run after being plugged in. Took it to my local Best Buy store and received very prompt, trouble-free replacement. (The unit was available only on line, so there was a week's delay in receiving the unit both times.) I have three minor criticisms (suggestions for improvement?) to offer. First, the power cord is very long, but the RCA cables were too short to reach from the unit to my receiver on the shelf above. I had to fashion extensions. Second, there is no lock down for the tone arm when moving the unit. You have to replace the twist tie that secured it during shipment. (There is a plastic stylus guard, but it would still leave the arm unsecured.) Lastly, the dust cover is very large. I am unable to open it fully in the allotted space in my entertainment center, so I have to hold it open while inserting or removing vinyls. These are minor items, but they might be of use to a prospective purchaser.

Can this turntable convert vinyls to a digital format such as MP3 ?

Not by itself. You will need software and/or hardware to accept the signal it sends out and digitize it.

Can this be used wit ha boom Box that has RCA inputs?

FROM THE MANUAL: "The AT-LP60 connects without adapters to devices equipped with RCA connectors. For maximum flexibility, we have included two adapter cables to fit other popular audio inputs." One of the possible connections listed in the manual is "a stereo boombox." They do say to set the output switch to the "LINE" position for this connection. Hope this helps.

Do you need a receiver for this?

Yes and no. The turntable has a switch allowing two levels of output. When you set the switch to "phono" the output is that of a preamplifier which is then sent to a receiver's phono input. The other setting is "Line." This can be fed to the line input on a sound card with a recording feature or some other recording mechanism with line input. If the receiving apparatus is not a sound card you probably won't be able to hear what you're recording. That's why my answer was "yes and no."
