I purchase this drive because it was recommended by an associate. I feel like I should have purchased a 2TB drive instead to cover both of my laptops. The set up was very easy, I didn't have to do much at all except plug it in and say yes backing it up. However an apple associate had a better choice to back up my computer. I understand that this model FGRC0844U1 is the current model and that FGRC0844S1 is the older model. Has anything really changed or been improved on between these two units? Is the newer model more reliable? have newer features? Quieter?
I don’t know about the older model but this one is not quiet by any means. Eco setting is nice for efficiency but it’s way too loud as it shuts off and on at night. I’m typically a heavy sleeper but this definitely wakes me up. It would be nice if it was quieter but I just leave it on Cool at night and it’s loud operation noise just becomes white noise as I sleep.
