My husband and I bought this BluRay player as a means of avoiding cable bills and not having to continuously plug his laptop or mine into the TV for entertainment before bed each night. I have burn-up many DVD players over the past two or three years from all-night running, so I hoped stepping up to a different option would help. Unfortunately, there is not a "sleep" option on this player and it will continuously run a disc if there is one in the player itself. Additionally, though this could easily be an internet-related problem (but we haven't had issues with other devices), it sometimes completely freezes while we are watching Netflix.
I would suggest either paying the extra money for the newer model or stepping your TV up to a SmartTV...that is, if you are like us and are only looking at buying a streaming BluRay player because it is the "best" of both worlds: streaming Netflix and playing DVDs/BluRays.

I bought this laptop as I started med school. It has been amazing, and so useful for class since I can just flip it over and write on PowerPoints (sent to OneNote) for reference later. I have not had issues related to the laptop's software since purchasing it, though the software I need for school sometimes gets buggy on it.
Overall, it has a great interface and is very easy to use and become adjusted to. It also has a good battery; on most days, I go to class without my charger and spend the entire day worry-free (of course I take it on test days, just in case!). I definitely recommend it!

No. That is a completely different streaming device.

Will this get the sling tv app.
Unfortunately, we have yet to find it...that is not to say that it isn't lurking somewhere in the hidden parts of the player menu etc though. It's not an obvious option on the channels to choose, if it's available.

what other apps does it use?
im looking for a player that has hbogo , wwe network, ect.. on it as well as the usual netflix and hulu and im wondering if this does as well?
I don't believe this player has anything more than your standard Hulu, Amazon, Vudu, Netflix, and a few other random apps. However, there could a world of apps that we have yet to unlock. In terms of downloading more apps than what comes on the BluRay player itself though, it appears like what comes on it is what you're stuck with.
Unless you're really sold on the idea of a BluRay player that can stream content too, I'd probably just go to a SmartTV or a ROKU player...at this point, it seems to be a better streaming option.
