I am not a fan of the Barracuda series drives. Some work great - some die early. Seagate will probably not repair or replace a Barracuda drive after 30 days (if even then). I have had excellent luck with Toshiba warranty service but you can count on an instant electronics failure in about 2 years (backup frequently). I have 4 WD drives that have held up well with one being over 10 years old. I do not know how long the new WD or Seagate drives will last. Seagate has several different drive lines built in different plants. I purchased the ST310005N1A1AS because of low cost and better reputation than the Barracuda series.
