Sound quality is amazing for the size. Controls are simple and straightforward to use. Worked well with with both my iPhone and MacBook Pro. I am hard of hearing (I wear hearing aids, but not for listening to music) and the clarity of this unit works well for me.

Finally Switched From Windows

When my seven year old Windows machine started acting sketchy (an HP running Vista that performed flawlessly until recently), I decided that it was time to consider making the move to Apple. After finally having a smartphone for the past year (yeah, I know, I'm old and cheap), and loving the quality of it, I decided now was the time to make the change. Yes, the iPhone 5s convinced me to try a MacBook Pro...that and my wife also has an iPhone and and iPad, so the continuity of similar platforms was appealing. Was the change easy? Absolutely. Were some things a little difficult to figure out? Yeah, but that is what Google is best at. This machine is fast, light, cool running and a real pleasure to use. I have given up my cordless mouse for the great track pad Apple has developed. I have not missed the optical drive...yet. The SSHD is great. The fast boot time is wonderful. I did have some reservations about downsizing from a 15 inch screen to a 13, but it has not been an issue. I may never give another dollar to Microsoft. I know, I sound like an Apple fanboy, but at 57 years of age I'm not that passionate about anything. I would make this change again in a heartbeat.

Reminds me of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers from their "Darn" the Torpedoes era. Very listenable from beginning to end - a true return to form of the old days. Packaging is cheap and similar to many current releases - give me the old plastic jewel case.

Superb Headphones

I am older (57) and hard of hearing (I wear hearing aids but not when I listen to music). I have two pair of moderately priced ($100 - $150) Audio-Technica and AKG headphones and have never been pleased with their sound quality when compared to my speaker/subwoofer system. Being at a stage in life where I can afford the price point of the Bowers and Wilkins P7, I spent a lot of time researching higher end headphones. I had narrowed down my search to the P7s and the Sennheiser Momentums and then auditioned both at Best Buy. It was a hard choice, but I found the P7s to be a little more comfortable for my noggin. Both of these are a little too bulky and heavy to use while out and about with a mobile device, but I use them only at home. I have never owned a Bowers and Wilkins product but was well aware of their reputation in the audiophile world. If you appreciate finely crafted products, the P7s will not disappoint you in any way. Their styling (while subjective), material choice, and sound quality (again a subjective characteristic) most definitely met and exceeded my expectations. An all around wonderful product.

Do the headphones fit over hearing aid?
Dad is hard of hearing. Phone is difficult. He has hearing aids that go over the top of the ear.
I have behind-the-ear heading aids (Phonak Audeo S) and the Bose QC-25 headphones fit quite nicely over my ears with the hearing aids in place. I have found that I do not need to use my hearing aids while using the headphones however.

Is this model equipped with RVU feature.
I am looking for a tv with the RVU feature that will be used to connect to Direct tv through their receiver in another room
Yes, this TV has RVU functionality. I opted to have another Mini Genie client installed for this TV rather than use the RVU feature. When the DirecTV technician came to hook up ours (this was an additional TV for us, not a replacement), I asked about this feature and what his experience in the field has been. He replied that the Mini Genie was the way to go because there is still additional hardware that needs to be installed if you go with the RVU option. So if the hope is to totally avoid a little black box I think you are out of luck. Also there is no dollar savings with DirecTV...both installations will result in an additional outlet monthly charge on your bill. The other advantages I can see going with a Mini Genie is that all of the remotes you use will be identical and you will have the ability to move TVs from one location to another in the house if you choose to without having to make any changes to the cabling infrastructure.
