Yes, the Sonos Sub is expensive, very expensive. Is it worth it? That is up to you to decide. For me it was. I bought the Playbase a few months ago and while it has an integrated sub I still felt the bass was lacking compared to my old 6.1 system. The room I have my home theater components in is large with cathedral ceiling so I felt the sub was needed to fill up the room. It does the trick. Music sounds great, movies are even better.
Setup was a breeze as will all Sonos products and the Sub is not just an ugly box like some Subwoofers. Very happy with my purchase now the question is which room do I buy a set or speakers for next.

I have held off for a bit on jumping on the home assistant bandwagon. Bust as I have purchased more smart products the integration with the echo is becoming more and more intriguing.
The tipping point for me was Echo Show integration with the Arlo camera. So now of I get a notification that someone is at my door I no longer have to reach for my phone, type in the passcode, open my Arlo app, type in the passcode again and then wait for the video feed to come up. I just say, Alexa show me the front door camera and the feed pops up. Killer App for me. I have also integrated the Echo show with my. Nest thermostats, WEMO switches and Rachio Sprinkler controller. All nice functionality but still kind of a novelty.
My wife uses it as a pretty handy kitchen timer, and my kids use it to play games, so it has been a pretty popular device around here.
If I have to complain about something, it is pretty pricey. And as many have complained about it is kind of ugly. I don't mind how it looks though. The music functionality is a bit limited for me as I am not an Amazon prime member but I can easily listen to music on YouTube.
Overall a pretty cool product that undoubtedly will become more and more useful as Amazon releases new features.

Trying to build out mu connected home and after a summer of high water bills I knew I needed to do something. Then I found Rachio. Rachio replaces your dumb sprinkler controller and connects to the internet. Local weather stations know when it is raining in your area so Racho will not water when it is raining. Racho has a great web and mobile app so you have total control of when and how much you water no mater where you are. I had significant savings my first year using it. Plus it is just cool to control your sprinkler from your phone.

Almost Perfect Security Camera

Was looking at the original Arlo cameras but didn't like the idea of buying new batteries every few months. Then in 2017 they released the Arlo pro with a rechargeable battery and I pulled the trigger. Loving these cameras so far.
Pros:
-Wireless Cameras (base station needs a network cable)
-Free 7 day video history in the cloud
- Rechargeable battery - between 2 and 6 months life depending on activity
- Local USB Storage
- 2 way audio
-Can be used outside
-Siren in base station
Cons:
-Video Quality is not 1080p - It is good enough for me but some competing products feature better video quality
- need to experiment with placement to eliminate false alarms and not miss what needs to be captured. A bit of trial and error.

This is not a wired 24 hour surveillance DVR system. If you don't have good upload and download speed on your wireless network this is not the system for you. Most people who are not happy with the system are expecting it to be something that it is not.

Was looking forward to the release of these panels and picked one up as soon as they were released. I love my Arlo cameras but one of my cameras gets a lot of activity and I was having to charge it every couple months. Installed the panel facing south about a month ago and my camera is maintaining its charge at 100%.
Was a bit more expensive than panels from competitors like ring but it is the only option from Arlo.
Not much more to ask for from this panel. Will be interesting to see how it performs in the winter with shorter days, cold and snow.

Great Sound, East Setup, Pretty Pricey

Have been searching for a soundbar for a while. Was have issues finding a sounder that would work without blocking the IR Remote of my TV. My Sony sits really low. Started reading about Sonos and really liked the idea of setting up my whole house for sound wirelessly.
Yes Sonos products are pricey, very pricey. But they sound great and are easy to setup. I wish I had not waited so long to but this soundbase. Makes a huge difference when watching movies, dialogue is clear. No more turning the volume up and down. Base is good, not great. The Sonos app is excellent, I can stream my whoie music library, Pandora or ant local radio station. The problem is now I want to add the Sub, some rears and get speakers for my other rooms. Good thing is I can add components as I can afford them.
