I really wanted this item to work but I ended up taking it back after trying to make it work consistently. It would sometimes work and I'd be abe to watch shows but most of the time it just wouldn't work as advertised. It would always disconnect from my wifi and trying to get it to reconnect wouldn't work most times either. Very frustrating.

Ive read you need August Connect in order to access the lock and number keypad when away from home. Im assuming this IS NOT THE CASE if you use Apple HomeKit..meaning I can access both devices through the internet because of Homekit. Is this correct?
You don't need August Connect if you have a 2nd generation lock or a pro lock. They both work with Apple Homekit. You can use 4th generation Apple TV as a hub or an iPad. If you have the 3rd generation lock you need August Connect to access the lock remotely as it doesn't work with Homekit.
