This device is SMALLER than you might think.
But to my surprise it's LOUD, perfect for a bedroom tv .
You wouldnt want this for your great room or MAIN entertainment video system, but as previously stated does well in a bedroom setting.
To get all this has to offer you should use the DIGITAL OPITICAL CONNECTION ( Cable NOT included ) to provide the best sound possible.
But to my surprise it's LOUD, perfect for a bedroom tv .

This little heater worked well. It heated the area ( about 12X12 room) in about 15 Mins
it cycled properly as to keep the set temp well.
I didn't .feel as though i needed to turn it off while i slept BUT I DID !

my tv does not have an optical input. how do i connect?
You will have to use a Splitter ( RED AND WHITE ) connection cord that goes to a 35mm connection jack ( looks like a earphone plug end ) just know you will get sound but it will NOT actually be true stereo sound .

Can be mounted horizontally or Vertically since the display has no words just symbols a Red standby light ,When Off.

How long is the Optical Cable that comes with it? No HDMI input?
About 3ft. But can be replaced if a longer length is necessary. And yes there are NO HDMI CONNECTION PORTS.

how far from the tv can the base be placed ?
As far as your connection cable is but keep in mind if placed too far will look funny when your picture is in front of you and the sound is somewhere else.

is this bar compatable with my 55 inch sanyo t.v. ?
As long as your TV has a DIGTAL OPTICAL output or you have a SPLITTER to use its ANALOG CONNECTION PORT ( stereo sound will be only simulated using this method) looks like an 35mm earphone jack on the rear of the bar.

Can I lay the woofer on its side?
I dont have room to stand it upright like in the pictures..... is the woofer also wireless?
Yes the Sub can be placed on its side and it is WIRELESS.

Unfourtunatly NO the unit only RECIEVES BLUETOOTH it does not Transmit.
