I bought a Bosch first and although it cleaned fine, the dishes were too wet afterwards and the tines we slanted and couldnt fit tall glasses in well so I returned it and got this and so far so good. It cleans well, dries fine and i almost as quiet as my Bosch was but I never have heard of people buying a dishwasher because of quietness anyway. The Bosch also had a smell after each wash and this does not.
Also I read that a lot of people didnt like the handle but it actually looks jazzy in my contemporary kitchen. All in All, I'm satisfied.

I didnt do any research before purchasing this. My husband wanted me to have the TOP OF THE LINE and it was either THIS or the KitchenAid from what we were told. We chose this one because of the 3rd rack. We didnt particularly like the fact that it didnt have a handle but we werent going to pay an extra $100.00 for it so we went with this model.
Now, before it came I did my after purchase research and I saw a few things that weren't positive in reviews. A lot of reviews made claims that there was a horrid smell reeking from the unit after washing and it was true. There was a smell but it wasn't as bad as people claimed. It DID permeate the room a little but didn't last. Next bad review was about the tines being slanted and it was hard to get the dishes in and that part was true. We couldn't stand our glasses up because they would fall over but again, not a BIG deal breaker. Next was the 3rd rack. In THEORY it sounded good but in reality it really is a waste of real estate. My silverware was not clean at all but in the bottom rack it was fine when placed there. The 3rd rack gets in the way of anything remotely taller than 6inches so you have to remove it. Last but not least, I didnt know that it didn't have a heating element until I read the reviews afterwards. They have what they call steam dry which isn't efficient enough for me. You can't open the dishwasher for a few hrs AFTER the cycle completes for the dishes to semi dry.
So all n all we returned it and got a KitchenAid before the 15 day limit was up and Im glad we did.
One thing though about this unit, it's incredibly quiet and it actually DOES WASH GOOD. We had hardened oatmeal in a pot and baked on cheese from a lasagna and it got both SPOTLESS.
So would I suggest buying this, ummmmm MAYBE. Let's be real, non of them are going to just clean and TOTALLY DRY without one spot no matter HOW MUCH you pay for it.
Customer Service from Best Buy was excellent though and the installation.

When using the dishwasher only 2x a week, does it have a smell?

We now Have a Bosch dishwasher. We only run it 2x a week. When you open the door, it has a strong smell.. I was told we need to run it a lot more. I had a KitchenAid dishwasher for 15 years and ran it maybe 2x a week and no smell. Just checking to see if the new KitchenAid dishwasher
would be the same?????
Not at all. I had the same problem with the Bosch and I returned it and the Kitchenaid doesnt have it.

How many inches does the handle stick out from the dishwasher?

That was a concern of mine but its fine and I have a very small narrow kitchen and its not problem at all.
