Was so excited to see my clock come in the box. I had it all setup, projection on and everything. Then, out of the blue a few days later, the projection stopped working. The whole clock didn't even work. The only thing that worked was the actual clock, not even the radio or alarms. I contacted Sony, and initiated the very long claims process. About a month later, and 10 times of me trying to see what was going on, I was given the specific email to send my proof of purchase to. Then, 10 days later, I got an email with a shipping label and instructions. I sent it back. Now, at least a month later, I finally got a check in the mail. I was told that I would get a clock, but I got a check. Again, another inconvenience. I really had high hopes for this clock. I will buy it again and give it another try. Hopefully this one won't fail.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Would a low battery cause every single one of my buttons to stop working? My alarm was sounding off and I wasn't able to turn it off without pulling out the battery and now I can't reset because my buttons don't work.
I think you should contact Sony about that. Similar to what mine did. (Read my review about it.)

During a power outage, does the radio still function using the backup battery?
Yes, it does. That is the main purpose of the battery backup.
