Does NOT work w/Linux Mint (is Realtek not Ralink)

If you are a Linux Mint user looking for a wireless adapter that works out-of-the-box then look elsewhere. I run Linux Mint 13 LTS (Maya) and thought I was buying the older ASUS NSB-N13 adapter. Although all markings on the box and on the adapter label this as the older ASUS USB-N13 adapter with the older Ralink chipset (which reportedly DOES work out-of-the-box with Linux Mint), it is really the newer ASUS NSB-N13 B1 adapter with the Realtek chipset (which DOES NOT work natively with Linux Mint). I verified this using 'lsusb' which shows the vendor:model code. The older adapter using Ralink had native Linux drivers which worked, the Realtek does not. The "installer" (really a BASH script that compiles the driver) fails. The driver downloadable from Realtek's website is older and will not install/work either. Linux Mint's built-in driver also cannot drive this adapter. The only way to make this unit work would be by wrappering the Windows drivers for it with NDIS. I already do this with another wireless adapter and, although that other adapter works, the connection is dropped at random times. The whole point of this exercise was avoiding having to use NDIS to wrapper Windows drivers. Also, emailing the company was no help. I was sent a "we received your support request" and then no follow-up. Perhaps this adapter works natively with Linux Mint 17 LTS, but it certainly doesn't with Linux Mint 15 LTS. I wish I could rate this as zero stars, but the website doesn't allow it.

Bar is NOT too long for a 51" TV

I wanted better sound than what could be supplied by my 51" plasma flat-panel (Samsung). Contrary to what I had read, the sound bar does not extend wider than a 51" TV and 'look weird'. I used the optical connector from my plasma to the sound bar (a little tricky on a wall-mounted TV with back-facing connectors). This soundbar came with stands for the rear satellite speakers as part of a special package deal, otherwise I may not have bought them. I found having the satellite speakers on movable stands is better than wall-mounting them, if one is picky about rear sound. The wires from the subwoofer to the satellite speakers are shorter than expected, they reach to the end of my couch (and up the speaker stands) but not much father. The stands also help to hide the wires, making for a less cluttered appearance. The system can pump out a lot of volume, to avoid hearing loss I tend to set the volume as low as possible while still being able to hear dialog. The subwoofer can pump out a lot of sound, I've actually adjusted it down to 20%-30% (from 50%). I have not used the Bluetooth feature. At some point I would like to connect my Blue-Ray player directly to the sound bar to learn whether the true 5.1 sound is much better than the stereo that I understand most TV's put out through their optical out.
