Even if you are going to place speakers in the same room, I recommend the bridge so you can move the speakers to other areas of the house temporarily,

Great Wireless Speaker System

I originally thought I would need two of these speakers per room with one set as the R channel and one as the L channel. It was surprising how well this speaker filled a room with music. For a whole house system, you really only need one speaker per room. You are not looking for HiFi with a whole house system; just filling the house with music.
I'm not kidding when I say the sound is really good with this speaker. It's amazing. When you pair them for stereo sound, it's really, really good!

What's great about it: Surprisingly good sound. It has humidity protection so you can use it in full baths without concern.

I originally thought I would need two of these speakers per room. However, they are awesome by themselves. When I pair the two I have for outdoor use with one as L channel and one as R channel (SUPER easy to do with the app) it's like I'm at an outdoor concert.
I compared these to the play 3's and went with the 5's. They are not much more and fill the air with music really well.
